Treasurer change - Corina has moved to Switzerland to be our eyes and ears on the ground, working in a Swiss
Hotel. Paul Hill has returned from the UK and has kindly taken on the vacant position. Our financial position
continues to be sound, despite a heavy investment/subsidy in the 50th Celebration.
Coming up is the Annual General Meeting and I highly encourage your attendance and support for the club. If
you've ever wanted to join a dynamic team & club, I strongly suggest to put your hand up. We are looking for
members to help organise events and strengthen some areas we feel we need improvement (senior engagement
& child friendly activities).
After the AGM last year, we set the following three year club ambition to really drive the club forward in a
structured & focused way - we hope you agree we have achieved Year 1. Having said that, lots of work is ahead for
all of us in the club to achieve Year 2 & 3.

Thank you for your patience in this newsletter, and the next edition will finally be in PRINT for those of you who opt for it -
something I'm really looking forward to.

Ciao,

FABIAN MULLER

10 ways to know you are a Swiss

We’ve all heard the stereotypes about Swiss people. Apparently we are
all cheese loving, punctual chocolate-fiends. This is definitely not the
worst way to be portrayed, and I am not in a hurry to correct people,

but there are ten other ways to know for sure that we are Swiss.

1. You absolutely cannot drink from your glass of wine before you have
looked everyone in the eye at the table whilst clinking your glass to
theirs. So help you god if you cross paths with anyone, or don’t maintain
that eye contact. Bad sex for 7 years, or something like that, I think
that’s what I heard…

2. You don’t buy the usual knickknacks from tourist shops when you
visit Switzerland but you do always come back with Swiss serviettes.

3. When you meet new people you will be mistaken for a Swede at some
stage during the conversation.

4. You don’t even question that your nation’s most popular soft drink is
made from milk. I mean what kind of black magic is that?

5. You have a ridiculous affinity for Migros. Can you imagine people in
Australia getting that excited about Coles or Woolworths and reading
their catalogue/magazine religiously?

6. You think it’s normal that cows wear bells and can’t understand why
they don’t here. How does the farmer find his cows without them?

7. You learnt how to tell the time using Flik Flak or another Swatch
watch.

8. You don’t think it’s weird that when you go visit family in Switzerland
all the males have guns in their rooms.

9. You think it’s completely normal to be bilingual.

10. You get irrationally annoyed when there is rosti or spaetzle on the
menu and when you order it you have to put on a more Australian
accent to be understood.
