Home Learning Pack

Dear Pupils and Parents,

This booklet contains some ‘how to’ guides for accessing our subscribed online
resources, as well as some possible tasks and links to other, free online resources you
may wish to access. Glow can be used to view your child’s own blog (P3-7) and class
blogs.

Some tasks online will be consolidation work, some may be new learning and some may be
challenge tasks. It is up to you to decide how and when you wish to complete tasks. We
also encourage families to get as much fresh air as possible, spend time together
reading and having fun!

You will receive updates via our school app from East Ayrshire Council and from the
school. You can also send emails to the school email address:

[email protected]

Mrs Kelly, Mrs Stark and I will endeavour to access these and respond, as and when we
are able to do so.

Please take care of yourselves and your families and we hope to see everyone back in
school as soon as we can!

Best wishes,

Robyn Davidson

Head Teacher

Fenwick Primary’s tips to staying safe online -

 Think before you post
Don’t upload or share anything you wouldn’t want your friends, parents,
carers or teachers seeing.

 Don’t share personal details
Keep things like you address, phone number, name, school and date of birth
private. Always check your privacy settings or ask an adult to do this for
you. When using a username, use one that isn’t your real name.

 Watch out for phishing or scams
Never click links you are unsure of, or links that ask you to share your
personal details.

 Think about who you are talking to
Even if you trust someone online, never share any of your information with
them.

 Keep your device safe
Use strong passwords, log out after using shared devices and be careful
what websites you are using. Remember to never to give out you passwords
to people you don’t know.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND MOBILE PHONES –
The internet is an amazing place to be creative, learn and chat to friends.
It is important to make the most of it and enjoy it, whilst being safe,
sensible and respectful to others.
Think of online friendships just as you would in the real world. It can be
just as hurtful to be left out of an online game or chat as it is in real life.
Be careful how you word things. Things can be picked up in the wrong way
when speaking online.
Be respectful to you friends on social media, thinking about others’
feelings. And remember to respect other people’s views.
Only accept friend requests from people you know in real life.
Think before you upload and share photos, post photos that show you and
your friends in a positive way. Once it is upload it’s no longer private.

If you are worried about online issues don’t hesitate to speak to an
adult and remember to “Speak out Stay Safe”.

Personal Project and News

A jotter has been added to your learning pack and you can use this for any task
you choose. You may wish to complete your own personal research project and
use this jotter to evidence your findings. Some suggestions for a personal
project are:

 Country
 Animal
 Famous Person
 Inventor
 Sports Personality
 Science topic, such as Space
 Sustainable Development
 Climate Change

However, you can choose to research anything you wish that can be shared with
your class when you return to school.

Primary 3-7 also have their own blog on Glow – a suggestion is that you update
your blog each week with a ‘News’ section and record some of the activities you
have done that week.
