Geneva International Centre for Justice (GICJ) is participating in the review of Iraq at the 55th session of the United Nations Committee Against Torture (CAT), from 27 July to 14 August 2015.
Faced with the increasing threat of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the international community is once again interested in Iraq. With this comes an important refocus of attention on the challenges within Iraq such as the devastated infrastructure, broken social links and systematic violations of human rights. These are important issues and as the attention on Iraq sheds light on them, perhaps steps will be taken to combat these problems.
