meet your choreographers & Guest dancers
Alex Engelland Alex is a Salina native and frequent stage presence
dancing with here at Theatre Salina. Alex was briefly under
consideration as a choreographer; this ended once
Britton Zuccarelli organizers discovered 98% of his “choreo” consisted
of “The Monkey.” Thus he had to call up his old friend
Maggie to choreograph. Alex is a pharmacist at Salina
Family Healthcare Center, where he works with doctors
to serve up quality care for area patients. Tonight, Alex
hopes to transfer those skills to the dance floor and
serve up a win with Britton!
Claire Schmidt Claire is a Salina native and is a 2021 College
dancing with Graduate! She is a former member of the Wichita
Renee Duxler State Shocker Dance Team and is a current company
dancer for the Universal Dance Association. Claire is
an instructor and choreographer for Center for Theatre
Arts at Theatre Salina, as well as Revolution School
of Dance and is also the head dance team coach at
Kansas Wesleyan University. Claire loves iced shaken
espressos, squishmallows, and dancing, DUH! Claire is
hoping to take home another dub, but this year with her
partner Renee!

Jess Polzella Jess Polzella is back at it with DWSS this year! She
dancing with and hip-hop STAR Damon Boyer are thrilled to be
Damon Boyer taking it Back-to-School for all their fabulous fans.
This team of two teachers has had an amazing time,
and can’t wait to show you our new dance moves.
Jess has been around for a while now, and is thrilled
to be entering her 19th teaching season this year, as
full time Ballet Director at her second home, Theatre
Salina. She’s going to be busy this year with all the
new classes she’s got, (for all ages: yes, I’m looking at
you!) her beautiful daughter Rhapsody, and hopefully
a little time to see the world! When you cast your vote
tonight, remember: it’s “ALL about Popular! “
Lorenz Rincones Welcome to DWSS... to be honest I’m still trying to
dancing with figure out what that means... probably should have
Jessica Martin been wearing my hearing aids when they we’re
explaining that. Nonetheless, let me tell you about
myself. I typically don’t call myself the flashy type.
I prefer to be in the ensemble more than I do as a
leading part, mainly because I say “what” too many
times, which causes people to just say “nevermind”.
But, due to my disability that’s why I am here tonight
because I thought I was attending dinner with Steven
Spielberg. I hope y’all enjoy my two left feet and
remember: if you’re not yelling, I can’t hear you.
A Choreography thank you
and shout out to Maggie Spicer
Brown and Cathie Norris! Your time
and talents are appreciated.

introducing your
2022 salina “stars” :
Renee Duxler currently works
as the Director of Economic
& Workforce Development for
the Salina Area Chamber of
Commerce. Her background and
education are as a social worker,
and she’s earned degrees from
both Kansas State University and
Newman University (Wichita).
Renee always dreamed of
being a dancer as a child, but
unfortunately possesses no rhythm
or coordination. That does not stop
her from dancing however—much
to the chagrin of her husband and
three children-- and she continues
to be a legendary performer in her
own mind. She’s very excited about
pairing with Claire, and girl bossing
their way to a DWSS victory!

introducing your
2022 salina “stars” :
Damon Boyer Damon Boyer is excited to be making
dancing with his big stage debut at DWSS this year.
Jess Polzella After years of annoying…embarrassing…
enlightening the students in his classroom
with his amazing dance moves, he is
looking forward to the opportunity to
show some new dance moves to all of
his spectacular supporters. The hip-hop
duo of he and teacher Jess Polzella are
both stepping out of their usual routines
and taking a “leap of faith” on a routine
that their fantastic fans will enjoy. Damon
has just began his 24th year of teaching
in the Salina school district and currently
teaches 5th grade at Meadowlark Ridge
Elementary. Damon likes to stay active
and spends a lot of time coaching
basketball, whether it be as the 8th grade
coach at Lakewood Middle School or as
the director of the World Class Sports
Basketball club for youth. As you enter
your vote tonight, please keep in mind
that: It’s not about aptitude. It’s the way
you’re viewed, it’s all about popular; and
that with your support, he can leave the
stage a CHAMPION!
TEACH us your moves DAMON!
Bring home the mirror ball!
From all of your friends at Meadowlark Ridge Elementary.
