Open Houses
Our famous Open Houses challenge the
concept of art galleries. Residents and local
artists across Saltaire village open up their
Grade II listed homes, letting you enjoy
contemporary art in an intimate, domestic
setting, whilst getting a glimpse of life behind
the doors of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Open Houses Trail showcases a wide
range of contemporary art by both local artists
and artists selected from across the UK. The
Arts Trail provides a unique chance to see their
work, meet them and in most cases the art will
be available to buy or commission.
Full details of the Open Houses will be
published in our Trail Guide.

Makers Fair Image: Sarah Waterhouse
Taking place in Saltaire’s spectacular Victoria
Hall, our Makers Fair promotes the best
independent artists, makers and designers from
the North of England and beyond, displaying
and selling their contemporary and original
creations.
We showcase new designs in ceramics,
jewellery, glass, silver, metal, books, paper,
leather, wood, plastics, furniture, textiles,
accessories, interior textiles, printmaking and
photography... It is a fabulous opportunity to
meet the makers and see demonstrations of
how they work.
This is your chance to take home something
original, handmade and unique, and when you
see what’s on offer, we know you’ll find it hard
to resist!

creativity, there are plenty of chances to get
involved and try your hand, with free and
fun drop-in arts activities for all the family
throughout the weekend. We offer free taster
sessions and demonstrations in a wide range
of art and crafts practice, as well as bookable
