IHM Sisters Raffle

The IHM Sisters raffle continues to be one of our most successful fundraisers. During the 2015-2016 raffle
season, we raised more than $230,000! Proceeds provide financial support for the care of our retired sisters.

Each year, our raffle
season kicks off on
July 1 with the start
of ticket sales and a
gathering at the
Motherhouse where
we celebrate the high
ticket sellers from
the previous year.
Drawings are held
monthly between
October – June. A
number of our sisters
and staff members
gather on the third
Wednesday of the
month to draw the
winning tickets. Each
ticket has 144 chances
to win!

Thank you for supporting
our raffle and assisting
us in continuing to
provide quality and
compassionate care to
our retired sisters.

Special Events

Christmas Tribute Tree

In December 2015, sisters and staff gathered in the foyer of the Motherhouse for the annual blessing and
lighting of the Christmas Tribute Tree. With your generous support, we raised $16,000 to help our retired
sisters with much-needed upgrades in the assisted living community within the Motherhouse.

This event was a prayerful remembrance and celebration of the many
tributes that were sent in from our friends and benefactors. Each tribute
was recognized in a memory book that was on display near the Tree.
This book was also carried in the Christmas liturgy offertory procession
as another special way to celebrate our benefactors and tributes.

The Christmas Tribute Tree is a unique
was to celebrate the birth of a child or
grandchild, recognize the accomplishment
of a loved one or commemorate the passing
of a beloved friend or family member.
Mark the occasion of a friend or family
member’s birthday or anniversary or give
a gift to the person who … has it all.

Students Making a Difference

Sydney Still

Sydney Still, a student at Marian High School, class of 2018,
raised $835 for the retirement needs of the sisters!

Sydney created and implemented an introduction to field
hockey camp for girls, grades six – eight. She invited girls
from St. Hugo, Holy Name, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and
St. Regis to participate and encouraged them to bring friends
from other schools as well. She asked each participant to
make a $25 donation to the IHM Sisters. To help her run the
four Sunday sessions, Sydney enlisted the help of Marian
High School field hockey coaches Ted Opie and Karen Wick,
and varsity field hockey players Annie Philips and Madelyn
Nowicki. The program was a great way to for the girls to
learn and play field hockey, meet new people and support
the retired IHM Sisters.

Sydney did this as a way to show her gratitude to the IHM
Sisters who helped make both her K-8 and high school
experiences enjoyable. She has been especially heartened
by IHM Sisters Margaret VanVelzen, Mary Ellen Keyes,
Kathleen Budesky, Lenore Polchelski and Michele Denton.
