CERTIFICATION AND ACCREDITATION

Our testing laboratories not only hold quality accreditations specific to their individual scope of work; the
majority of our laboratories are also certified for OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

ISO 17025:2005 an international standard establishing the requirements for the competence of testing and

calibration laboratories.

ISO 9001:2015 is the leading management standard for companies that trade on a business-to-business

basis.

OHSAS 18001:2007 specifies the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system.

Complying with this standard enables Bureau Veritas to control risks and improve OHS performance.

ISO 14001:2015 verifies that companies operate an effective environmental management system aimed at

supporting environmental protection and the prevention of pollution.

WEARER TRIALS

A wear trial is an additional service offered by Bureau Veritas CPS which uses an
independent evaluation service to support the legal, safe, quality and performance testing of
a product. We have an extensive database of over 500 trialists across both sexes, a range of
sizes and all ages who wear and evaluate products for characteristics such as fit, durability,

PROJECTILE TOY TESTING

Over the years, there have been a number of tragic incidents which have resulted in children
swallowing and choking on projectiles, or receiving eye injuries as a result of using
projectile toys. This has prompted ever evolving changes in the toy safety standards and
regulations.

Bureau Veritas has specifc tests to test the simulation and verifying the kinetic energy
produced when firing a projectile toy. We test for two types of projectile toys:
A projectile toy with stored energy where a projectile is propelled by means of a discharge
mechanism capable of storing and releasing energy.
A projectile toy without stored energy, where the projectile is discharged by the energy
imparted by the child using the toy.

PRE 36 MONTH TOYS

The standards for toys that are aimed at children under 36 months have some of the strictest
requirements of all product testing. Ensuring your product is fit for this age group and legally
compliant with the safety regulations can be a daunting task as the standards are constantly
being updated.

At Bureau Veritas we have a team of experts on hand to give you the latest and up to date
advice on bringing products to market. Toys that are aimed at children of under 36 months
are covered as part of the safety standards EN 71: Part 1, Part 2, & Part 3, Safety of Toys.

We carry out a wide range of tests within these standards which include:
