Bureau Veritas UK Warringon lab
campaign to promote a better working
environment and to support each other,

if and when we need it.

Evidence shows that helping others is not only good for the person
receiving the gesture, it is actually beneficial for your own mental health
and wellbeing. It can help reduce stress, improve your emotional
wellbeing and even benefit your physical health.
The main issue with mental health, is that you might not know someone
is suffering until it is too late.
The mental health foundation shows that the overall number of people
with mental health problems in the UK has not changed significantly in
recent years, but worries about things like money, jobs and benefits can
make it harder for people to cope.

It appears that how people cope with mental
health problems is getting worse as the number of
people who self-harm or have suicidal thoughts is
increasing.

Bureau Veritas CPS UK #BeKind Campaign

Something as simple as a kind gesture can make a big difference to how
someone is feeling and show them they have a network of support from
their colleages within BV.
Therefore we are going to launch our #BeKind campaign in our UK lab
and promote the giving of a kind gesture to a colleague.

1 Act of
Kindness
a week

We would like to suggest we all make 1 act of
kindness to a colleague each week.

It could be something as simple as:
Asking someone what they did at
the weekend and taking an interest
in their life outside of work.

If someone is busy offering to make
them a tea or coffee.

If someone is visibly struggling with
something, take some time to find

out why.
How about giving some praise or
recognition for the work they are

doing.

That little act of kindness could make a big
difference to how someone is feeling.

That act of kindess you receive might make
you feel a whole lot better!

If you have received an act of kindness, why not post it in the
suggestions box for us all to see. It doesnt have to show your name

or the person who showed the gesture.
The ones we receive we will share to help promote more kind gestures.

As well as the #BeKind campaign, there are a number of confidential
groups and help services which are available to employees. These are
all confidential and offer advice and support if you feel like you need
some help outside of this campaign.
We have the Employee Assistance Programme “LifeWorks” which can be
accessed by ringing 0800-169-1920

In addition to this you can access the following My Learning Modules
These modules are only 10-15 minutes long which may also assist you.
• Positive Thinking Module
• Dealing with Stress
• Healthy Living

An important step to take is to seek help as this will play an important
part towards getting and staying well. Even if you are not sure whether
or not you have a specific mental health problem, it is still okay to seek
help.
The best starting point is to talk to a health care professional e.g. your
Doctor or GP. Your GP can help you with:
• Making a diagnosis,
• Offering you support and treatments, and
• Refer you to a specialist service.
NHS choices - www.nhs.uk/livewell/mentalhealth - offers information
and practical advice for anyone experiencing mental ill health

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at
providing emotional support to anyone in
emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at
risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom
and Ireland, often through their telephone
helpline. Dial 116 123

Provide advice and support to empower
anyone experiencing a mental health
problem. We campaign to improve
services, raise awareness and promote
understanding. Call: 020 8519 2122 or
use 111 if it is urgent

FA Heads Up campaign
While the conversation around mental health has grown
significantly in recent years, mental health problems remain one of
the biggest issues in society today. Suicide is the biggest killer of men
under the age of 45 and it's time this changed.
We can all take simple actions to look after our mental health and it only
takes a minute to get started, whether that's looking after your own
wellbeing or reaching out to support a friend or family member.

This is why, as part of the Heads Up campaign, all Emirates FA Cup
third round games will be delayed by one minute to
encourage fans to ‘Take A Minute’ to think about mental health.
They have a set of simple tools provided by Public Health
England’s Every Mind Matters and Heads Up charity partners Mind,
CALM and Sporting Chance. It takes less than 60 seconds to complete
and can be used to support either yourself or others.
Remember we also have each other, sometimes it’s easier to talk to
someone you know and trust, or has even been through difficult times
themselves.

Remember, being a part of
Bureau Veritas Warrington,

you are never alone.

If you feel you need to talk to someone, why not try
speaking to a colleague and let them know you
are struggling.
If you would prefer to speak to someone in

confidence, John Evans HR is available to assist in
any aspect of your Well Being.
