Destination Information:
Lisbon is one of Western Europe’s most treasured
capital cities. It’s also one of the continents oldest.
First founded as a trading port city in 1200 B.C., Lisbon
pre-dates Rome. Most of the old city was destroyed in
an earthquake in 1755. But today, the “City of Light” is
thriving. In the last 50 years its population and annual
visitations have more than doubled as the rest of the
world discovers what this second city on seven hills has
to offer. Indeed, Lisbon checks all the boxes. Its home
to colonial architecture, destination museums, and even
its own genre of music. During your time here, you will
explore a fortified castle, a bustling waterfront, trek in
jeeps through mountain terrain and a meander through a
colorful maze of cobblestone streets.
Set among rolling hills, lush gardens and serene
mountain lakes, Penha Longa Resort, one of the most
stunning luxury resorts in Portugal, will offer you a rare
opportunity to explore the breathtaking beauty of the
Sintra Mountains and offers elegant accommodations,
world-class restaurants, Championship Golf, a luxurious
spa and wellness center.
Your Achiever’s Club hotel is located on a protected
national nature reserve just minutes from trendy Cascais,
romantic Sintra and historic Lisbon, Penha Longa Resort
is at once a rare blend of authentic European charm
and modern accessibility. Penha Longa, meaning “Long
Rock” is long on history and natural beauty. Today, Penha
Longa stands as a timeless link to five centuries of grand
Portuguese estate luxury. Its Tranquility, natural beauty
and plethora of outdoor activities make this one of
Europe’s most attractive and exclusive retreats
The mild climate makes this an ideal year-round
destination. During the month of October, temperature
highs are in the low to mid 70’s F and the lows are in the
high 50’s F. It is recommended to pack layers and a light
jacket or wrap as the winds can be quite strong in the
mountainous area. Resort casual attire is recommended
throughout your stay. Many of the activities and
sightseeing will include walking and in the old city, which
is primarily cobblestone streets, so plan for comfortable
walking shoes.
Know Before You Go:
Travel Documents
Current COVID Travel Requirements:
U.S. citizens traveling from the United States to
Portugal for non-essential travel are permitted with
proof of an accepted COVID-19 test. While vaccines
are not required for entry, they are highly encouraged
to avoid potential risk of contracting COVID.
• RT-PCR Test (or similar NAAT test) - 72h before
boarding
• OR Rapid Antigen Test - 48h before boarding
• If you have already been vaccinated, we encourage
you to travel with your vaccination card as well as a
copy kept in a separate, safe place
All passengers need to fill a Passenger Locator Card a
maximum of 4 days prior to your departure to Portugal
at https://portugalcleanandsafe.pt/en/passenger-

Additional Entry Requirements for U.S. citizens to
Portugal
• U.S. citizens may enter Portugal for up to 90 days
for tourism or business without a visa
• Your passport should be valid for at least three
months beyond the period of stay
• We encourage you to make a copy of your passport
and keep it in a separate location from your actual
passport. It’s also recommended to leave your
physical passport in your hotel safe when touring
any country – there is no need to carry your
physical passport with you during your daytime or
nighttime activities.
Pre or Post Travel:
European Union proposed new travel restrictions
for unvaccinated visitors from the United States
by removing the United States from a “safe list”
of countries whose residents can travel without
requirements such as quarantine and testing. If you
are planning any pre or post travel in conjunction with
Achiever’s Club, it is imperative that you check the
entry requirements prior to your trip. If your plans
have changed since the announcement of these new
restrictions, as it relates to pre or post travel outside of
Portugal, please contact us and we will work with the
travel team to make necessary changes to your flight
itinerary.

Cell Phones
Virtually all modern smartphones (iPhone 7 and newer)
are compatible with Europe’s mobile infrastructure
and every major US carrier has international data
plans. However, many of these international plans are
expensive so you might get hit with costly international
data roaming if you’re not careful and the speeds can
be slow. The easiest way to use your American phone
in Europe is to add an international data plan to your
current mobile service — every major carrier lets you do
this. Simply call them up or go online and they’ll gladly
upgrade your account to work with European carriers
they have service agreements with. In many cases, your
phone will automatically connect without you needing
to do anything.
To limit your international data use and charges, please
note the following steps:
• Turn off roaming and cellular data. Stop apps from
running data in the background. Turn all apps off in
your cellular
• If you keep your cellular data on, make sure to turn
off your apps that might be running data in the
background
• Turn off automatic downloads
• Track your cellular usage
Currency & Tipping
Currency: Euro
All gratuities for hotel, transportation and activities
have been paid in advance by RealPage. If you are
dining out in town, on your night of leisure, you may
choose to leave 5 to 10 percent of the final bill as a
tip or, to make it easier, round up the check. So, for
example, if the meal was €37, you can pay €40 and tell
them to keep the change.
Airport Tips
• Print and plan ahead! Make sure to print and pack
all of your personal travel documents along with
any medical equipment or medicines and keep
them in your carry-on bag. This includes your
passport, printed travel confirmations (airline, hotel
confirmation), all COVID related documentation
- both test results and vaccine card (if applicable)
along with your QR Code receipt from the Portugal
Travel Locater Card online submission (to be
completed 4 days prior to departure).
• Come early and be patient. Heavy travel volumes
and the enhanced security process may mean
longer lines at security checkpoints.
• Make your trip better using 3-1-1: 3–1–1 for
carry-ons = 3-oz. bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear,
plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in
screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the
total liquid volume each traveler can bring. Airlines
will vary on the size and weight restrictions as it
relates to luggage. It is important to check your
carrier’s website to confirm you meet their criteria
for carry-on and/or checked luggage. It will be your
responsibility to pay for any checked bag fees and
or weight overage fees if applicable.
How to Beat Jet Lag
Firstly, limit alcohol in flight. With the pressurized air
in the cabin, your body dehydrates substantially, and
alcohol affects the body clock by not giving you a full
and refreshing sleep. Try to drink as much water as
possible.
• Move around when in-flight to keep the blood
circulating and stop the joints from stiffening.
• Set your watch to the local time of your destination
as you board and sleep according to that. This helps
your body to start the change in its body clock.
• When you do arrive at your destination try not to
go to sleep, no matter how tired you are. Instead
try to go outdoors and into the sunshine. This helps
to alter your body clock, and will help you be back
to normal a lot quicker.
Safety Tips
• Always be alert and aware of your surroundings
• If you must carry a purse or bag, hold it in front of
you close to your body
• If you encounter a threatening, hostile person, do
not put up any resistance
• Travelers should share their itinerary with a loved
one or coworker and should check in
• All travelers should keep a copy of both passport
and COVID vaccination card (if applicable) in a
separate and safe location, away from the original
documents

Welcome to Lisbon! We hope your travels are
uneventful and you and your guest are excited for a
thrilling week ahead. Upon arrival to the Lisbon Airport,
you will be greeted outside of customs and baggage
claim by a RealPage transportation staff representative.
They will be holding RealPage signage and directly
outside of the exit doors. When you exit the customs
area, please turn right for ease of access to our guides
and transportation. If you have any trouble locating
your driver, please contact Katie Harvill, Event Staff, at
+1 404-217-2334.
Note: If you are arriving outside of the program start
date of October 6th, you will be responsible for making
your own arrangements to the hotel. Taxis and Uber
are both readily available from the Lisbon Airport. The
Penha Longa Resort is approximately 35 minutes from
the airport, depending on traffic.
After a long day of travel, we invite you to relax and
enjoy all that the Penha Longa Resort has to offer.
We will host a hospitality lounge with light lunch in
the Aqua Restaurant starting at 10 AM. If your room
is not ready at the time of arrival, you may enjoy the
spa facilities to refresh and lounge poolside or explore
the grounds at your leisure. There are many sights and
hiking trails all along the resort grounds.
This evening will be a relaxed and informal gathering
to reconnect with your colleagues. We will have
a reception starting at 6:30 PM in the Mercatto
Restaurnt, located on the mezzanine level of the hotel.
Recommended Attire:
Daytime: Comfortable travel attire
Evening: Resort casual attire
Day 2: Thursday, October 7, 2021
Today will be an unforgettable journey to one of
Lisbon’s noble areas. Belém featuring iconic buildings
from the 15th and 16th century, related to the
Portuguese Discoveries. We will depart the hotel
at 9:00 AM and travel to the beautiful Jerónimos
Monastery built in the 1500’s. This will include a visit
through the church interior, unveiling a gorgeous
Gothic-Renaissance style altar, as well as, the tombs of
great Portuguese explorers. Following the church, we
will walk towards the waterfront area where we will
discover the Monument of the Portuguese Navigators
and the Belém, two unique landmarks of Lisbon set by
riverside. During our tour, we will have the opportunity
to re-energize and taste the delicious flavors a Belém
Pastry crafted by one of Portugal’s most famous
bakeries, Pastis Belém.
The morning will be an enjoyable stroll through the
gardens and waterfront. Following that, we will board
the transportation that will take us to the center of the
capital and visit the old quarters of Lisbon. We will take
a short walk up a cobblestone hill towards St. George’s
Castle, a medieval fortress from the 12th century with
an incredible history and breathtaking views of the city
of seven hills. Guides will available to take you through
the castle to discover more of the history, however
if you prefer to enjoy the sights and sounds at your
leisure, you will be free to roam the grounds of the
castle. There are plenty of photo opportunities.
Following a tour of the castle, you have the chance
to grasp more of Lisbon’s fascinating heritage by
boarding a Tuk Tuks (similar to a Pedicab), that will lead
you through the narrow roads of Alfama, originally a
Moorish quarter, followed by a panoramic drive to the
restaurant “Bairro Pateo do Avillez” located downtown
Lisbon, on the opposite hill from the castle, for lunch.
We will enjoy a family-style lunch prior to an afternoon
of leisure. You will have the opportunity to explore
downtown Lisbon and shop at your leisure or board the
return transportation to the hotel for some rest and
relaxation.
Guides will point out the departure location for all
guests, whether you choose to stay and shop or depart
immediately. Shuttles will depart every half hour with
the last shuttle departing at 4:00 PM.
We will reconvene this evening in the lobby at 6:45
PM to depart for a very special group dinner. Adega de
Colares is a beautiful building from the 19th century
situated in the fairytale like town of Sintra. This
charming retreat offers three characteristic spaces,
an outstanding and spacious room with ageing wine
barrels, a delightful patio and intimate noble room.
This magical ambience will be the perfect setting for a
brilliant Achiever’s Club dinner.
Transportation will return to the hotel immediately
following dinner.
Recommended Attire:
Daytime Comfortable walking shoes, jeans, kakis or
joggers along with layers. A light jacket or wrap is
encouraged as the indoor venues and outdoor winds
can be chilly.
Evening: Business casual attire
Day 3: Friday, October 8, 2021
Prepare yourself for thrilling and unforgettable day in
Sintra and its outskirts!
This day will be filled with adrenaline ride in 4x4 Jeeps
throughout the Sintra hills. Because of the popularity
of this event, we will enjoy this as a full group. That
said, one group will depart for the Jeep activity prior
to lunch at 9:30 AM (Group A) and the second group
will depart for the Jeep activity following lunch at 2:30
PM (Group B). Both groups will convene in Sintra for a
special group lunch together. The afternoon Jeep group
(Group B) will depart the hotel at 11:00 AM in order to
arrive to Sintra early in order to have time to shop and
explore. The morning Jeep group (Group A) will have
the opportunity to explore and shop following lunch.
The Jeep tour will have you crossing the mountain to
the Coast via Cape Roca, the most western point of
Europe. Panoramic stops will allow you to admire the
incredible views from the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic
Ocean. You will continue through the lovely Ulgeira
village and Alto de Peninha.
We anticipate each Jeep will transport a total of four
guests so you are comfortable. Due to the rugged
landscape, we will not be self-driving these vehicles.
Each Jeep will have a driver, but the terrain and
picturesque views will not disappoint - it is a thrilling
ride.
Touring the town of Sintra is a relaxing stroll through
small alleys. The streets are cobblestone and the stores
are quaint and varied with souvenirs and local crafts.
This evening you will have the opportunity to dine at
your leisure. Local currency will be provided to you
at check-in and you may work with the concierge
or the hospitality desk upon arrival to help secure
reservations in and around Lisbon and the hotel. A
list of recommended restaurants may be found on the
event website, so if you choose to book something in
advance, it will provide a great guide and reference of
some local favorites.
All transportation and reservations for this evening will
be on your own. Please contact the concierge if require
assistance with these arrangements.
Recommended Attire:
Daytime & Evening: Comfortable walking shoes, jeans,
kakis or joggers along with layers. A light jacket or
wrap is encouraged as the indoor venues and outdoor
winds can be chilly. Most restaurants in Lisbon are
relatively casual. Resort attire is recommended for any
restaurants outlined on the recommended list provided.
And, remember, you may be required to show your
negative COVID antigen test result at the restaurant.
Day 4: Saturday, October 9, 2021
Today, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the
activity of your choosing. Please reference the activity
section in this booklet for further details on activity
descriptions and duration. Please alert the event
planning team if you need to make any changes to your
activity selection as all activities have been confirmed
prior to your arrival in Lisbon. Please note that some
activity times may change, so please reference your
activity card, received at check-in, for final details and
departure times.
Recommended Attire:
All activities encourage comfortable attire along with
walking shoes or tennis shoes. Sailing and E-Bike
activities would especially benefit from a rubber-soled
closed-toe shoe (tennis shoe) along with wind breaker
or light jacket due to the outdoor nature of these
activities.
Day 5: Sunday, October 10, 2021
We feel that the last few days have left no stone
unturned in the exploration and discoveries of what
Lisbon has to offer. However, if you seek to further
explore this beautiful city, please ask the hotel
concierge or the event staff to help you maximize this
final day.
Our farewell dinner will be set in the heart of the Penha
Longa Monastery and adjacent palace, built in the
14th and 16th Centuries. The night will convene with
cocktails at 7:00 PM followed by a seated dinner and
dancing. We look forward to a final night of celebration
and toasting your success.
Departure notices will have been provided in advance,
along with a printed copy of the PCR COVID test
results that will be required for your return flight. If you
have any issues with your travel documents or tests,
please contact Katie Harvill at kharvill@meetingadvice.
