The annual 16-hour tattoo marathon that falls
on the last Saturday of every February brings
in artists from all over California including the
talented crew from Wild Bill’s in Roseville. The
artists volunteer their time and all of the day’s
proceeds, even the artists’ tips, are donated
to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital - Pediatric
Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Sacramento.
Thanks to all the generous and amazing tat-

that over the last 18 years this event has
raised a whopping $248,000 for the apprecia-

hospital is named after Wild Bill’s Tattoo as a result of all
the dedicated artists who have donated their time and tal-
ent to the pediatric needs and the hospital. Bill said, “What
an honor!” And went on to say, “None of this would be pos-
sible without our wonderful clients, dedicated staff, merchant
donations, and hardworking volunteers who have contributed
their time and talent to the pediatric needs and the hospital.”
Make no mistake, this is a long day for all the volunteers who
work very hard all day and into the night to ensure every cus-
tomer is seen. Most people don’t realize just how hard tattoo-
ing can be on your hands, eyes, and back, and we appreciate
each artist for the time they work at the Tattoo-A-Thon. After
the event is over and the tattoo machines lay quiet and the ink
has settled, the volunteers count all the day’s receipts to find
out that last year the artists had tattooed over 100 customers.
Roxanne said, “We are thankful for those who come in on this day, we couldn’t do it without them.” Last year, Wild
Bill and Roxanne were able to present the UC Davis Children Hospital with a check for $15,000.00. Thanks to the
efforts of all the volunteers and customers, there will be a parent of a small child that can rest a little easier with the
knowledge that their child is getting the best medical care possible. Please do your homework and come with your
tattoo ideas on paper, if possible (it will save a lot of time) before you head out to Wild Bill’s Tattoo-A-Thon this year.

ON THE ROAD TO SEASIDE
The Concours d’Lemons Show

With Roxanne & Wild Bill Hill

When Roxanne and I first met Alan Galbraith, he told us he puts on a car show called
‘The Concours d’Lemons’ (www.24hoursoflemons.com) in Seaside and that many of
our cars “would fit right in”. After some research and reading about the car show, I
found out that it was a “bad example of good cars and good examples of bad cars.”
In a news article I read, “An ugly oil stain on the Pebble Beach Auto Week.” I was not
too sure how I felt about attending a peculiar car show with such odd reviews. Then
I thought, “Most of our vehicles are a little strange and not normal”.  Alan said, “All the

Clintons’ Custom Cycles in Lincoln is a busy long
standing shop that is not afraid to tackle a project
that might be a bit out of the norm. So when Don,
who has been riding motorcycles for close to 70 years (and
will be turning 81 this year) decided to do this project - he
took the idea to Clinton’s Custom Cycles. When Don was
13 years old, he used to steal his dads Indian motorcycle
and he has been hooked on riding ever since. They call this
3 wheel creation the DYNAVETTE to pay tribute to Don’s
love of motorcycles and his favorite car. The shop said
this build came about under the “WHATEVER IT TAKES”
rule. For some people riding motorcycles is a hobby and
for others it is a way of life. Don’s goal is to stay riding for
as long as he can.

We have a friend whom we have become close to
over the years as he and his girlfriend have often
joined us on our annual weekend getaways. You
can’t miss him, he is the only sport bike among our pack.
Occasionally, I would get a blurred photo as he and his girl
would jet past us in true sport bike fashion after they tired
of our slow touring pace. Eventually, we would find them
patiently waiting for us up the road. He is a hard working
and caring boyfriend, son, brother, father and grandfather.
Last year, we noticed that he silently withdrew himself most
social activities. With the exception of his family, there
was no interaction as he was learning how cope with the
diagnosis of liver failure. Our friend has been on a donor
waiting list for a year now. That being said did you know
that a donor can share a portion of their healthy liver
and it will regenerate its self? Sounds simple enough,
right? Wrong. The difficulty and challenge is finding a
match. Please help if you can – time is of the essence.
Please go to www.ucliverdonor.org to answer a confidential
questionnaire to detect any medical conditions that may
affect the ability to be a living liver donor for our friend.

Thunder Roads Florida wants to thank the Founders office for choosing Florida as the Publisher of the
Year for 2019. THUNDER ROADS
FLORIDA
We have been riding the highways of Florida and beyond for fourteen years to bring our readers
coverage of motorcycle events and the lifestyle of riding in a high gloss top quality printed format.

We distribute to over 600 locations in the sunshine state and have made so many motorcycling friends
because of Thunder Roads Florida that we feel so fortunate. The magazine has taken us from
Laconia to Sturgis to the Lone Star Rally in Texas and even to the Playboy Mansion in L.A., but it is
the Florida events that we focus our attention on and pages towards.

Our state has so many bikers and so many events every weekend that it is difficult to choose where
to ride! Our ad clients make the magazine possible and we thank them. Our readers make us happy
when they comment on the magazine. I can’t believe how many have come up to congratulate us on
this award. We have seen the best in people on two wheels, riding for charities as a past time. We
have seen the talent of painters, bike builders, photographers, leather craftsmen and writers all who
have made this award possible.

A special thank you to all who encouraged me to keep going, sometimes against all odds. Our graphic
design & layout artists Barbara (who recently retired) and now Dorothy, really deserve the credit for
the look of the magazine. Our Webmaster Lennie for the user-friendly website. Our area reps
Deborah, Ron, Metric, Phoenix, Doug, Tony, T-Rex, Peggy, Raven and Sherry are the backbone that
bring you news from across the state.

ED & TAMMY HINCHEY 2019 was a fantastic year for events in
THUNDER ROADS Pennsylvania and the crew over at American
PENNSYLVANIA Flat Track raised the bar when they hosted the
Williams Grove Half-Mile.

If you haven’t caught one of their events, it’s
old school flat track racing of the highest
order. Pure adrenaline rush, edge of the seat
family fun. Our August 2019 Cover showcases
Slammin’ Sammy Halbert on his Harley
Davidson. The incredible action shot is by the
one and only Scott Hunter. Our GDA, Barbara
Garner, absolutely nailed the layout and
colors to highlight the shot.

We want to humbly thank all the incredible
