CAMPUS EVENTS, INTERNSHIPS, RESIDENCIES, ETC.

RESIDENCY

> Students in both the Ph.D. and DSL programs are required to attend either two to three residencies during

the course of their program.

> Students with a catalog year of Fall 2016 & beyond are only required to complete two; students with a

catalog year of Fall 2014 to Summer 2016 are required to complete three; students with a catalog year
that predates Fall 2014 are not required to complete any residencies.

> Residency is typically held during the first week of each semester. Students typically complete residencies

on a yearly basis: i.e. if they begin the Fall, they would usually only complete residencies during
subsequent Fall semesters.

> Dates can be found here

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF A STUDENT IS COMPLETING RESIDENCY?

> SSL residencies are tied with certain courses. Students visit Regent's campus during the first week of

class and engage in continuous seminars and sessions with faculty members. They then engage in online
coursework for the remainder of the semester.

> Specific residency-linked courses are:
» LDSL 722 - 1st residency for DSL students
» LDSL 727 - 2nd residency for DSL students
» LPHD 751 - 1st residency for PhD students
» LPHD 754 - 2nd residency for PhD students

> There are always TWO sections for each residency course. Section (01) is always the residency section.

Students that are needing to attend the on campus component of the residency itself. Section (02) is for
students that either:

» Attended the residency itself previously but failed the course itself, thus warranting a need to retake

the class but not necessarily come back to campus again.

» Are in a unique situation in which they have been approved to not attend the campus component.

There MUST be an approved petition on file documenting this, as this is an exception to policy
