Tributes- 25 Years Later!

Annette Joseph

I am bursting to say this to you: Thank you, thank you,
thank you.

Life has taken me may places and I have done many
social work-related jobs. At the core of all of them is
your professional input, your contribution to a sound
and all-rounded education, your influence in being the
best social worker that I can be and pride in being true
to the “social work profession”.

The principles and ethics of social work remains fully
embedded in my memory and consciousness and
influences everything that I do, even twenty-five (25)
years later. It has not been lost but treasured, valued
and I attempt at all cost to pass it on to others who
cross my path.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Continued blessings.

Ralph Waldo Emerson stated that
“The great teacher is not the
person who supplies the most
facts, but the one in whose
presence we become different
people.” This has truly been my
experience.
Thank you Dr. Holder-Dolly, for
your contribution to my life.
I love the different person that I
have become.

Thank you Dr. Dolly for igniting the flame of
Social Work in me. I was like a kid in a candy
store. There were so many flavours, textures
and tastes. I devoured them all.

The way you taught the courses and the
knowledge that I imbibed was precious,
priceless and profound. You did this in such a
quiet and effective manner.

This guided me on a journey that I am still on
today. My passion for Social Work never waned
How many persons can say that they have
found their true calling in life….yes…me
…me…me. SOCIAL WORK!

Thanks so much for being there. The impact of
your teaching was felt, acknowledged and acted
upon. You did your part with aplomb and grace.

Blessings always.

Gratitude

Trust in the Lord, with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding, in all your ways submit to
him and he will make your path straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Gratitude is all I have today. Almighty God Lion of
the tribe of Judah, has kept me. Thank you, Dr.
Dolly, and may the supernatural wisdom, miracles,
signs, wonders, blessings, long life, excellent
health, peace, wealth, opening of double doors,
creativity, compassion, empathy, innovativeness,
goodness and mercy, multiplication, steadfastness,
plenty laughter, generational blessings, uncommon,
unprecedented favor from Almighty God overtake
you and your family forever.

We continue to put our trust in Jesus because He
never, never fails.

A spoken word piece dedicated to an awesome lecturer Dr. Jennifer Holder-Dolly

J- Joyous, after all the serious intellectual stuff, you will usually pelt a bluff with some
dry humour at the end of our session, ensuring that we left in good spirits.

E- Energetic, you make the subject matter come alive for us, stirring up a passion for
the topic under discussion.

N- Noteworthy, special kind of excellence for inspiring us with significant statements,
for example, ‘you cannot empower someone, you can only facilitate their
empowerment, or the assessment is your professional opinion of the case”.
N- Natural, a genuine vibe, ‘what yuh see is what yuh go get’. A plain talker, never
sugar coating. You either take it or leave it.

I- Intelligence, talk about sharp! You were always quick on the uptake. You knew who
read from who was just padding, hoping you wouldn’t call them for a response.

F- Forceful, assertively you made a demand on us to read.
E- Emotional Intelligence, you epitomised Biestek’s ‘Controlled Emotional
Involvement’, which we eventually learnt and can now testify that emotional intelligence
is the key to both personal and professional success.

R- Regal, Dr. Holder-Dolly, you are truly regal to the core. We could not ask for
anything more. You provided a strong foundation. You are a magnificent lecturer and
role model.
J- Jennifer…Jenny…Dr. Holder-Dolly, don’t go changing. We love you just the way you
are.

Thank you!

You inspired me to become a critical thinker. Thank you. May God richly bless you

My experience is of one of a
heart full of love and peace.

A mind full of wisdom, knowledge
and discernment, qualities which
created wonderful memories and
purpose for life at full potential.
‘Thanks’ seems insufficient, so
may you be showered with
health and happiness from the
Creator.
