2022

FOREWORD

This Charity Project is organised by The Boys’ Brigade (“BB”) in Malaysia,
Perak State Council. For the first time, the project is led mainly by young
BB Officers and Helpers, entitled Agape Love Box 2022. This is a big move
to encourage our BB members to participate in community service
projects, so as to instil a caring and socially responsible spirit in our BB
members.

The purpose of this report is to introduce Agape Love Box 2022 (“the
Project”), a new charity campaign, to the public. We hope that by
reading this report, the public can understand the background and
vision of the Project, including the way we work, and how the donations
can truly benefit the needy.

In order to enhance the transparency of the Project, we decided to
publish an annual report detailing the year's activities, financial status, as
well as achievements along the way of the Project to the public. Through
this report, we hope to bolster the trust and relationship between the
charity and our supporters while recognizing the achievements of the
organizing committee and BB members involved in the Project.

WHO WE ARE

Agape Love Box is an initiative launched by six young

enthusiastic BB officers and helpers as they attend the Officer Cadet
School (OCS) 2022. They decided to conduct a fundraising project in
their respective regions (Kampar, Manjung and Ipoh) to spread
God's love to the local community.

The project is highly welcomed and supported by the Boys’
Brigade Perak State Council and the Perak State Commissioner. They
became the Executive Committees of the Project and began actively
recruiting like-minded members to become the committees.

After forming the committee, they continued with a positive
collaboration and launched a series of community activities in their
respective companies (2nd Kampar, 3rd Manjung and 7th Ipoh).
2022 is the first year the Project was launched, and it is hoped that
this meaningful initiative will continue every year in the future.

Commissioner.

As mentioned earlier, this Project was initiated by six young officers
participating in OCS. In the short term, our development plans will be
divided into three stages: In the first stage, the activities will be carried out
in their respective companies to accumulate knowledge and experience;
Next stage, we will invite other BB companies in Perak state to join this
initiative and share our experience with them; In the third stage, we hope to
expand our coverage to all regions of Perak. Our long-term goal is to utilise
AGAPE Love Box resources to form a Crisis Response Team to provide
emergency support services in Perak state.

MESSAGE FROM
CHAIRMAN

Add your Shalom Ladies and Gentlemen!
photo here
It is a great honour to represent and speak on
INSTRUCTOR behalf of the Agape Love Box 2022 Committee
LEE RICKY Team. I would like to take this opportunity to
CHAIRMAN OF thank my teammates, our Boys’ Brigade
AGAPE LOVE BOX members, and helpers, who have volunteered
to contribute to the success of this fundraising
event, may God bless you all abundantly!

As you may not know, this is the very first time
for Perak State’s young Officers and Helpers to
come together in organising a State-Level
Project. Even though some may think that it is
just more like a local-level project. However, to
be honest, it was definitely a tough journey for
us to reach a consensus and pursue the same
direction, as we are coming from different
backgrounds and practices. We have not even
met in person before starting this project, yet
we have to collaborate to accomplish the
mission.

As I recall, we faced a lot of challenges in
proposing this project, setting up targets,
persuading varied individuals and overcoming
countless bumps. Nevertheless, we have
successfully ironed out the drawbacks and
brought to a good end to this project (Stage 1)!
I would like to again express my highest
gratitude to my teammates for holding down
the fort!

Agape Love Box: Highlights Report 2022 | 11

Along this journey, I truly experienced that “if
we ask God for an egg, God will absolutely give
us a chicken!” In the earlier stages, we
conservatively set a lower target for each area.
Even so, by God’s grace, we have miraculously
exceeded all the targets in every area, which is
beyond our expectations. I sincerely hope that
every leader has learnt from this testimony,
and renew your strength with the words from 2
Corinthians chapter 5 verse 7:

“For we walk by faith, not
by sight.”

Once again I proudly present this report to you,
hoping that you will rejoice in this achievement
with us! With all your support, I see a promising
future for the younger generations in The Boys’
Brigade in Malaysia, especially in serving
philanthropy and the community even better in
the future. Ultimately, although we can’t help
everyone, everyone can surely help someone!

With the support of each company captain, we started regional

KEY ACHIEVEMENT

(Targeted charity: Persatuan Pusat Jagaan Kasih Sayang Kampar (PPJKSK))

The greatest struggle of PPJKSK is financial problems for monthly expenses, as
they are taking care of several children that need extra medical care, including
the expensive medical equipment and bills, transportation fees to and fro the
hospital, house rental fees, etc.

2nd Kampar Company has decided to help by paying three months' rent. The
fees are given in cheque form. Mrs Yee Kar Yin, Chairman of PPJKSK, emphasised
that raising funds for paying monthly expenses is a great burden to them. She
motivated BB members to appreciate what we have because there are many
less fortunate people in our society.

Agape Love Box: Highlights Report 2022 | 22

(Targeted charity: Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Tua Manjung (PKWTM))

The struggles faced by PKWTM are mainly in daily expenses and medical
expenses. It is understood that PKWTM needs to take care of nearly 20 old folks,
but due to its non-profit nature, they could not obtain fixed financial income. The
situation is even more worrying due to the pandemic.

Initially, 3rd Manjung Company decided to donate a two-side chiller to PKWTM.
Thankfully, we were able to raise more than double our goal and donated an
additional washing machine and daily necessities for PKWTM. Mr Yong Kon Fatt,
the person in charge of PKWTM, was very grateful and touched that BB members
have such a commitment at a young age.

According to Mr Chong Mun Wah,
Director of PKLCM, the TV sets were the
priority item they needed because one
of the TV sets was broken down by a
lightning strike.

7th Ipoh Company decided to provide
a brand-new TV, water dispenser and

members had been sent to the PKLCM
for the half-day cleaning. Mr Chong

their dedication and encouraged them

He also welcomes them to visit the

the elderly also like it very much.

LOOKING TO THE
FUTURE

In 2022, God has given us a big vision, and shown us the fruits of
impactful goals. We praise God for allowing us to make it this far and
pray that we will be able to continue this work for many more years.

By reviewing the details of this year's AGAPE LOVE BOX project from
planning to execution, the committee puts forward its vision for the coming
years:

01. — More Volunteers

To attract more like-minded volunteers, and
continuously improve our service quality with more
diversified skills, fresher perspectives and the latest
knowledge and experience. Besides, it can also boost
our visibility, so that more people know, believe and
support our work!

02. — More Funds

To encourage a positive fundraising culture from
different sources, not only individual donations. A
combination of episodic and ongoing support
(corporate contributions, foundation funds and
government grants), can help us to secure more needs
for vulnerable groups.

03. — More Beneficiaries

To approach and connect with the hidden needy in our
community. Our greatest hope is to make sure that, in
the future, the uncovered areas this time will be exposed
and included in donors’ help lists. These include
underprivileged students, children with special needs,
rural families, victims of natural disasters, and more.

A year filled with
God’s blessings

Thank God, we successfully completed the Agape Love Box 2022, and
fulfilled our mission of helping the charity centre. We are pleased to
announce that all three companies were able to raise a surplus amount of
funds. In all of this, we celebrate the kindness of God, and that is powering
us forward.

You Make it Possible

This fundraising event has been made possible by the generous donations
from the public, family members, relatives, friends, church members and
many more kind individuals. Similarly, the efforts from our fundraisers (BB
members) and also the support from local companies should be
recognized.

Through the recent pandemic and disasters, we have witnessed significant
impacts from the frontliners, who sacrificed their time and energy, risking
themselves in protecting our country. Hence, we find that it is precisely the
right moment to train up our younger generations in philanthropy and
community services.

Because of You

We have successfully covered a total of three non-profit charity centres
among three areas in Perak State. We hope you will be proud to know that
we have impacted more than 61 lives at this Agape Love Box 2022 (Stage 1)!

While we are pleased with our first attempt, we truly know that there are still
thousands or more vulnerable groups who need our help. We believe in the
power of your kindness. You are helping us to reach more people, whose
daily lives can be made a bit easier with better education, consistent
financial support and unconditional acceptance.

We Need You

In Winston Churchill's words, “Now this is not the end. It is not even the
beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” We hope
that this Agape Love Box Project will become an annual movement, and see
you again in stages onward!
