The idea that I may use books to transport myself to
a different time and place and experience new
things fascinates me since I am an avid reader of
science fiction and fantasy. I believe that literature
is a powerful medium for cultivating a more
optimistic outlook on the future, providing us with
the assurance that all will work out in the end, and
enabling us to be more in tune with the beauty that
exists in the world. In the same way that it is said
that the pen is mightier than the sword, I believe
that words have a great lot of influence over both
individuals and events.
Personal
Principle in
Teaching
As a student of the English language and literature,
I do not have an overarching teaching philosophy
that I strictly adhere to because it has little to do
with the field I am now studying. However, as a
teacher with experience, I adhere to the philosophy
of fostering the growth of my students. Whatever
I'm teaching, whatever the activity, whomever the
student is and their idiosyncrasies, skills, and
shortcomings, etc., every minute of my day is
devoted to transforming that individual into a
stronger, wiser, more competent individual with
more character and, consequently, more
possibilities. That is the lens through which I
evaluate every choice when I was teaching.
EED22803 MICRO TEACHING
Week 1 (4 July - 8th July 2022)
Madam Nirmala, the lecturer of the subject, imparting her knowledge and
expertise to the students
During the first week of class,
our lecturer, Madam Nirmala,
briefed us on the topic at
hand, as well as the work
plan, project, assignment,
and any other required tasks
for the course. In addition to
that, Madam Nirmala has
provided us with an overview
of the learning objectives for
the topic.
The first topic of the lecture, which is titled Teaching and
Microteaching, has been delivered by Madam Nirmala as
part of the lesson that she is teaching. This section of the
lecture instructs us on the foundations of teaching and
micro teaching, which covers the following: the
advantages of micro teaching, the different types of
micro teaching, the principles of micro teaching, and the
processes involved in micro teaching.
11 July - 15 July 2022
Lecture EED22803 MICRO TEACHING
Today's lesson began with a review of
week 1's lessons (Topic 1), in which
Madam Nirmala emphasised subtopics
in a lesson plan. She emphasised the
two components of a learning objective
and how to construct one for the issue
at hand. She taught us the most
effective technique to construct
learning outcomes by comparing them
to a destination to reach a place: we
must have a clear destination planning
(goal) to attain our learning goals. Next,
she taught us the role of Learning
Objectives in lesson planning, stating
that learning goals and objectives,
feedback & assessment, and teaching
& learning activities must be connected.
Tutorial
For this week's tutorial, we were tasked by
Madam Izzati to work in pairs where we
were tasked to create 3 learning outcomes
based on the content standard and
learning standards that we have chosen.
After preparing our learning outcomes, we
were required to present them in the class.
LECTURES EED22803 MICRO
TEACHING
Madam Nirmala begins class with a six-
minute video of a student's mock
teaching, which depicts the established WEEK 3 PORTFOLIO
introduction segment of the a lecture.
Based on my observation of the video,
the mock teaching appeared to be about DATE: 18TH - 22ND JULY
the internet or cyberbullying. Following 2022
the viewing of the aforementioned video,
Madam Nirmala examined the video and TUTORIAL
provided a few comments and criticisms
of the person's mock teaching. There For this week's tutorial, we were tasked

lesson's topic: set induction. The topic
begins with a broad overview of set
induction, including its definition and
characteristics.
WEEK 4 18TH - 22ND JULY 2022
LECTURE
The topic of discussion for this
week's class is going to be Stimulus
Variation. Nevertheless, before
continuing with the class, Madam
Nirmala reviewed the material that
was covered the previous week.
According to what I've learned,
using one's mannerisms, voice, and
personality effectively is one of the
most important things that can be
done to attract the attention of
pupils. In addition to this, another
thing that I've picked up is the fact
that there are five aspects that may
be managed in order to attract the
attention of the pupils. These
factors include intensity, contrast,
movement, audio-visual aids, and
the teacher's personal behaviour.
TUTORIAL
This week's lesson required us to
participate in an exercise that was
modelled after the teaching aid that
we had created the week before. A
pedagogical tool that incorporates
elements of gamification that was
created by my group has been
designed to encourage students to
engage in certain tasks.
My opinion is that each group has
developed a one-of-a-kind
instructional tool that has the
potential to contribute significantly
to the teaching and learning that
takes place in educational
institutions. It is my opinion that we
should really put these instructional
strategies to use for the students
since they are certain to pique the
students' attention and boost the
students' general grasp of the
material being covered in the class.

25 July - 29 July 2022
Lecture EED22803 MICRO TEACHING
The sixth topic covered in this week's
lesson was reinforcement strategies.
According to the lesson, classroom
reinforcements are activities that
increase the likelihood that a desired
behaviour will occur in the future.
Positive reinforcement and negative
reinforcement are the two forms of
reinforcement that I have discovered.
Positive reinforcement is the addition of
something pleasurable to increase the
likelihood of a desired behaviour. In
addition, we studied the topic of Lesson
Closure. According to my
understanding, classroom closure is
crucial because it wraps up the lesson
and helps students arrange material in
a meaningful context in their minds.
Tutorial
This week's instruction is group-based. As a group,
we had to choose a topic that interested us and
discuss how to explain it. Then, we developed
stimulus variation tactics for a class demonstration
(based on our distinct subjects), with one member of
each group presenting. Each speaker is different. The
group will be able to distinguish the presenter's
stimulus modification from the demonstration.

WEEK 6 PORTFOLIO
DATE: 1ST - 12TH AUGUST
2022
MOCK TEACHING SESSION
The first few mock teaching sessions
have been done by students this week.
Each day of the week, seven students
carried out their mock teaching. In my
opinion, all r of the students performed
quite well on their mock teachings, and
each student, in my judgement, included
unique styles within their lesson.
Moreover, each of these students has
created distinctive teaching aids that
have unquestionably increased and
improved their mock teaching, which
helps me generate ideas for my own
mock teaching the following week.

Project 1 Reflection (3rd August 2022)
Our group, which consists of Fazlyn, Aida, Alya, Hafiz, and I presenting our
lesson plans to the class.
For Project 1, our group of five
was tasked with creating a
lesson plan for each of the
skills (listening, speaking,
reading, writing, and
literature in action). For this
project, I was required to
create a lesson plan based on
reading skills, and I decided
that information extraction
would be my primary activity
for my lesson plan.
Students are required to read a paragraph and build a
mind map that incorporates all of the passage's primary
ideas and supporting details. Initially, we would need to
undertake these planned activities with some pupils in a
school setting. Due to schedule conflicts, we were forced
to cancel that plan. I was disappointed that we were
unable to undertake the activities with students, but
happy that we successfully submitted and presented the
project.
WEEK 7 15TH - 19TH AUGUST 2022
PROJECT 2 REFLECTION -
MOCK TEACHING SESSION
It was my time to perform my
sample teaching this week. A week
before doing the simulated
teaching, I developed a lesson plan.
As a BELS student, I had a difficult
time determining the suitable lesson
and activity to do for the
aforementioned mock teaching;
there were several factors to
consider when creating a 15-minute
lesson plan and e ven though I was
a DTESL student in the past, the
notion of drafting a lesson plan and
performing a mock teaching did not
come easy to me. Thankfully, I have
the support of my peers to help me
through this ordeal.
For my mock teaching project,
I was instructed to create a
lesson based on the Literature
in Action skill. Based on my
proficiency, I have opted to
teach a lesson on the poem Mr.
Nobody. I decided to teach the
poem's structure, rhyme
scheme, and literary
techniques (repetition, simile,
and onomatopoeia) based on
my lesson plan. I feel I was
able to effectively finish my
lesson (presentation), however
due to time constraints, I was
unable to completely finish my
production stage of the lesson.

Thank you!
“It's the questions we can't answer
that teach us the most. They teach us
how to think. If you give a man an
answer, all he gains is a little fact. But
give him a question and he'll look for
his own answers.”
