Introduction

Thank you for your commitment to see God shape your home into a place of
spiritual growth. The purpose of Whole 31 is for your entire family to seek and
pray for spiritually whole lives. To be spiritually whole, one must allow God to
deal with the total person, producing complete results for His glory.

Paul prayed this for the Thessalonians: “Now may the God of peace himself
sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept
blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:23)." James
1:4 also reads, “...let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect
and complete, lacking in nothing.”

God wants you to experience the healing, joy, and peace that comes when you
are growing in your knowledge of Him. He has begun this good work in you and
in your family. He will be faithful to complete it.

What to Expect

In this resource you will find 31 family devotions around the 31 chapters of
Proverbs. You are encouraged to enjoy 31 meals together where you can discuss
each chapter of Proverbs using all or part of these devotions; there are also 31
recipes for you to try if you feel the urge and 31 ways to pray for your children.

Use the book of Proverbs to practically impart God’s wisdom into your heart
and your children’s hearts. An investment of your time in the Word together will
build your character, strengthen your life for Christ, and put you on a spiritual
trajectory that brings great joy into your life and great glory to God and His
Kingdom. Enjoy!

Notes on Verse 3

In the Hebrew “acceptable” means proven, distinguished, or especially chosen.
Something is acceptable after it has been tested to see if it is excellent or the
best. In God's eyes, it is best for His followers not to simply follow a code of
conduct or a list of rules (the idea presented in the word, “sacrifice.”). He wants
His children to “do righteousness and justice,” or “do what is right because your
heart is right.” You can do the right things but not with a heart that loves God. We
must love from the inside out, not to just keep some rules. Read 1 Timothy 1:5.
