‘Twas the week before Christmas
and all through our hand-hewed
log cabin…
Our family gathers from near and far, some by car, some by air,
To drape fresh-cut Frazier fir in the cabin with care…
By the Appalachian fireplace, kids hang their stockings just right,
In time for Santa’s trip down the chimney, in only a few nights!
On Christmas Eve all snug in their beds
Hi-speed Internet streaming Disney in their heads….
Mom and I in the hot tub, millions of stars twinkle the night
Hard to believe not one single house light in sigh
…when in the orchard, a family of deer appear!
Of course! Comet or Cupid’s cousins are really here!
At our mountain home, all times of year,
Holiday magic is always near!
We close our eyes, thankful for sharing with our
family this beautiful place of love and light,
And hear a jolly voice singing: “Merry Christmas to
all, and to all a good night!”
