Women of Vision Foundation Awards $110,000

The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia’s Women of Vision has issued grants to four programs for the 2016-2017 fiscal year to expand opportunities for Jewish
women and girls and promote social change that benefits them.

“We have invested more than $700,000 in grants over the years to improve the lives of women and girls,” noted Penni Blaskey, Chair of Women of Vision. “All of
Women of Vision’s members are intimately involved in the process of selecting who we will fund. It is a rich and rewarding experience.”

The grants committee, led by Marcy Bacine and Mindy Fortin, spent months reviewing the proposals, learning about issues that affect women and girls and choosing
which programs to present to the full membership for their vote. Women of Vision ultimately awarded the following grants:

• Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia: $35,000 was awarded for Ma”oz Bloom: Transforming Maternal Mental Health in the Orthodox Jewish
Community, to help Jewish Orthodox women in Lower Merion access culturally sensitive care when they experience maternal mental health problems.

• Moving Traditions, Inc.: $35,000 was awarded for Empowered & Prepared: Rape Risk-Reduction for Pre-College Jewish Women, to develop a curriculum to ensure
that Jewish young women are prepared to face the challenges of a sexualized campus culture and take on leadership roles on campus in combating sexual assault.

• Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia: $22,000 was awarded for Dare to Understand Women & Girls Initiative to develop a program for mother/daughter or
grandmother/granddaughter pairs to empower women of faith to be change agents for tolerance and understanding.

• And in Israel, Hillel-The Right to Choose: $18,000 was awarded for Services for Haredi Women & Single Mothers to support 180 women and 100 children leaving
the Haredi community to bridge gaps in their education and employment.
