The American Friends of Soroka Medical Center (AFSMC) held a fundraiser at The
Chevra on Nov. 16 for the Soroka Medical Center’s new Comprehensive Cancer Cen-
ter. The Soroka Medical Center, located in Beersheva, is the largest medical center in
the southern region and the second-largest in all of Israel.

Gessler, AFSMC County’s religious school built a 14-foot menorah made of about 75,000
planning committee Lego pieces on Dec. 3. The students and their families spent about two hours
constructing this menorah under the direction of Building Blocks Work-
shops LLC with its founder, Stephen Schwartz. Building Blocks Workshops
provides opportunities for children to work together building structurally
sound models out of Legos.
