WHAT IS AUTHENTIC AUTHENTIC OILS
ESSENTIAL OIL?
NATURE’S POWER
An authentic essential oil, genuine and true, is one of the plant kingdom’s greatest gifts. For
centuries they have been prized as remarkable flavors, fragrances and, most notably,
as potent remedies. Wellness seekers through the ages have discovered
that when these precious aromatic liquids are delivered in
their original, unaltered state, they profoundly and
safely cleanse, protect, rejuvenate and elevate the
body and mind.
page 1
THE TRUTH ABOUT OIL QUALITY
Essential Oils are most effective and safe when in their authentic,
natural state. When Nature’s Sunshine began offering essential
oils more than 15 years ago, we discovered many competitive
oils on the market had been altered, standardized and enhanced
for flavor, fragrance and economic advantage. Nature’s Sunshine
raised the bar. Through careful sourcing practices and expert
analysis we offer only 100% authentic essential oils.
Recently the wellness market has been flooded with new essential
oil offerings. Each claims its own grade, be it “A,” “therapeutic,”
“clinical,” “medicinal” or “certified.” The truth is, none of these
grades ensures oil authenticity. Such terms are created solely by
the sellers. Conscientious health seekers should know there is
no third-party governing body that certifies or grades essential
oils. Thus, many essential oil companies sell adjusted, altered
and even synthetic oils and call them pure and therapeutic.
Since many essential oil companies source their products from
fragrance, flavor and chemical brokers, they do not see the entire
supply chain. They sacrifice the all-critical relationship with the
cultivator and distiller.
page 2
OUR PROMISE
Nature’s Sunshine maintains that the best safeguard against adulteration is to know your source. For more
than four decades, we have developed partnerships with trusted producers who give us an intimate con-
nection to the entire product lifecycle. We verify our essential oil authenticity and integrity by auditing and
testing at three critical checkpoints. We call this process our SureSource Guarantee. Every bottle of Nature’s
Sunshine Authentic Essential Oil can be traced to the exact harvest and distiller from which the oil originated.
We do all this so you can be completely confident that every drop of Nature’s Sunshine Essential Oil is
authentic and will absolutely work as nature intended. Nothing has been added, altered or taken away. This
commitment to quality and authenticity is our promise. When it comes to your health we never compromise.
WHY AUTHENTICITY MATTERS:
1. Essential oils applied topically are absorbed through the skin into the
bloodstream almost instantly.
2. Inhaling an oil scent immediately passes the oil vapor into your body.
At Nature’s Sunshine, we can prove that our essential oils are unaltered from
Mother Nature. Breathe easy knowing that our oils are safe, authentic and pure.

USING AUTHENTIC OILS
Essential Oils have a long history of helping with both emotional and physical wellness.
Oils can be used individually or in a variety of mixes often called “blends.” The two most
common ways to use essential oils are:
INHALATION
When inhaled or diffused, essential oils are proven to have a powerful impact on
well-being. Some invigorate and stimulate, while others calm and soothe.
TOPICAL
Used topically, essential oils are almost immediately absorbed into the skin.
They provide instant support for respiration, muscle relaxation and for
soothing skin irritations.
page 6
THE MANY BENEFITS OF ESSENTIAL OILS
• Can offer immediate effects
• W ork in tandem with healing, weight-
management and relaxation programs
• Have a long shelf life
• Are fast-acting, safe and effective
• Are easy to use
• O ffer countless practical uses in the
home and for personal care
• Can be blended to match
personal preferences
page 7
SHARING AUTHENTIC OILS
As you experience the benefits of essential oils, it’s natural to begin telling your friends and family about
the wonderful results you have. Then before you know it, you see just how easy it would be to start your
own Nature’s Sunshine Authentic Oil business.
You don’t need to be a salesperson or oil expert to begin sharing Na-
ture’s Sunshine Essential Oils. In fact, chances are you’ve already
started building a business by using oils and recommending
them to friends.
page 8
SIMPLE TIPS FOR SHARING SHARING OILS
Use essential oils. Better than any sales tool or pamphlet, your
personal experience with oils will help as you recommend them.
People will also notice the oils you are wearing and ask what you
are using. Always have essential oils with you and be prepared
to share.
Ask questions. Ask people about their health, their stress and
their lives. You will quickly find that everyone can benefit from
using essential oils.
Start with friends and family. Talking to friends and family often
is a great, non-threatening way to practice sharing.
Invite. Anytime you talk to someone about essential oils, be sure to invite them to learn more. Invite
them to an Authentic Oils Workshop, to participate in a webinar, join a phone call or for a one-on-one get
together. (Since essential oils are such a sensory experience, it’s best to meet in person so you can share the
fantastic scents!)
TRY SAYING THIS:
• “Essential Oils are very popular. Did you know there are big differences between essential oils? I’m hosting
a workshop where we will learn more about essential oils and play some fun games. I would love for you
to come. Are you available next Wednesday evening?”
• “I have been learning a lot about essential oils and have discovered amazing benefits for me and my family.
I would love to meet up and share what I’ve learned. How about Monday night?”
page 9
Share. Now’s the fun part! Sharing allows you to tell those you care about how much you love
Authentic Essential oils. Here are some of the most common ways to share:
• Host an Authentic Oils Workshop. (See the “Workshop” tab for more information.)
• Watch a Nature’s Sunshine Authentic Oils video with a friend.
• Hold a 3-way-call with your friend and sponsor/upline manager.
• Hand out a sample and an essential oil sales tool.
No matter the format, make sure to share your personal experiences and what you know about essential
oils. Don’t worry about being an expert or not being able to answer every question. Your goal should be to
simply help someone have an authentic essential oils experience. Once they are open to the idea and smell
the power of nature, chances are they’ll want to know more.
Follow up. If someone shows interest, be sure to follow up.
Always give them your contact information and, if possible,
try to get theirs.
Keep it simple. You don’t have to be a product expert! Start
with a few oils you really love and expand from there. And
remember that often “I don’t know” is the best answer. If
someone has questions you don’t know the answers to, be
honest. Tell them you don’t know but will do some research
and get back to them. Better yet, research the topic together!
page 10
SELL WHAT YOU LOVE
Some people view selling as scary, but the truth is, it’s the easiest
step. At this point you have invited someone to learn more and
shared your love for Nature’s Sunshine. Now all you have to do is
ask if they’d like to purchase. Some will be interested and others
will not and that’s okay.
Have fun! When it comes down to it, sharing essential oils is
sharing health and wellness with those you care about. Have fun!
Enjoy what you do. Happiness and success are contagious.
page 11
AUTHENTIC OILS WORKSHOPS
Authentic Oils Workshops are an excellent way to start or enhance your business. A workshop is a simple
and fun way to introduce Nature’s Sunshine’s Authentic Essential Oils and to showcase other quality
natural health products.
CHOOSING DATES & TIMES
Set a goal for the number of workshops you would like to hold each month, then write your preferred dates
on a blank calendar. The first few workshops you hold will likely be in your own home, so choose dates and
times that are most convenient for you and your
family. But also consider this…
• Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to
be the best days for gatherings during the week.
• Schedule according to your guest list—will they
be coming from work and need to care for kids
before they join you for a meeting? Set the start
time accordingly.
• L ate Saturday and Sunday mornings are often
good options.
• Be open to locations! For example, offer to meet
a group of coworkers for a brown bag discussion
over lunch.
page p12age 12
INVITATIONS WORKSHOP
Although social media is the easiest
way to invite lots of people at one
time, industry experience shows
the best attendance results from
mailing physical invitations. Make
sure to advertise your workshop on
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,
but also take the time to send invites.
If you are conducting a workshop for
someone else, schedule a call with
the host 24–48 hours after you agree
on a date to help with invitations.
Your goals for this call…
• Answer any questions the host may have.
• Get a guest list! Take on the responsibility of mailing invitations yourself to simplify things for the host and
guarantee that they are sent.
• Use a FRANKs guide (see the “Your Business” tab for more information) to help increase the guest list and
aim for a minimum of 30 names. By mailing 30 invitations, you can expect 10–12 guests in attendance.

SUGGESTED AUTHENTIC ESSENTIAL OILS WORKSHOP OUTLINE
I. Welcome
• B riefly introduce yourself and thank the host for inviting everyone to learn more about Nature’s
Sunshine’s Authentic Essential Oils.
II. Host Gift
• Present the host with special thank-you gift. (A favorite oil or NSP nutritional supplement works best.)
TRY SAYING THIS:
“This wonderful bottle of Lavender essential oil is a special thank-you for hosting our event tonight.
Everyone here can receive a similar gift by hosting your own Workshop like this one. If you’d be interested,
please let me know and we’ll find a date that works.”
III. Introduce Attendees
Get to know everyone by asking guests to introduce themselves and share their connection to the host. In
the meantime, give attendees an index card to note their contact information and their answers to a couple
of questions like these:
● Is this your first time experiencing essential oils? If not, how long have you been using them?
● Are there any specific oils you would like to learn about tonight?
● Would you be interested in hosting your own Authentic Oils Workshop?
Let guests know that you will collect the cards and use them for giveaways at the end of the event. (This is
also a good pre-workshop activity when you are waiting for guests to arrive.)

IV. The Authentic Essential Oils Experience
TRY SAYING THIS:
“I am so excited to be here with you today! People like me have been sharing wellness and transforming lives
with Nature’s Sunshine products for over 44 years. In fact, we were recently named one of America’s top 100
most trustworthy companies by Forbes magazine. I’ve been with the company for 2 years now and I’m so
thankful for the difference it has made in my life.
Today we’ll focus our experience on Nature’s Sunshine’s Authentic Essential Oils, but I do have a few of my
favorite nutritional products to share if any of you have interest. I brought my favorite products for detox,
weight management and immunity, and there are many other healthful options.
“Let’s talk essential oils! I can’t wait to show you how fun and simple it is to use them in your everyday life.
Let’s get started and have some fun!”
1. WHAT ARE AUTHENTIC ESSENTIAL OILS?
Share some of the benefits of essential oils. They refresh,
relax and renew the spirit and mind. Pure oils can also affect
your emotions, nervous system and entire body. They can
uplift, soothe and energize. Some also help to disinfect
and deodorize.
Explain Nature’s Sunshine’s SureSource™ Guarantee
(see page 4).
page 16
TRY SAYING THIS:
“Essential oils are gaining popularity, and many brands of oils are available. The thing that sets Nature’s
Sunshine apart is that our oils are authentic and are backed by the SureSource guarantee. What does that mean?
Well, just as you want only the best ingredients in your foods or medicines, you should look for essential oils with
the absolute highest quality. You deserve the best! And Nature’s Sunshine’s Authentic Essential Oils are exactly
that. Authentic means ‘of undisputed origin and genuine.’ Nature’s Sunshine actually traces the origin of each
of its oils to the country where the plants were grown—right down to the very farm and field where the plants
were harvested.”
2. AUTHENTIC ESSENTIALS KIT
Use the Authentic Essentials Oils kit to guide your discussions about oils.
TRY SAYING THIS:
“There are so many oils available it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. This is our
Authentic Essentials Kit, and it really makes using oils simple. It contains
five single oils and five unique blends that are some of the most versatile and
useful. In fact, most of your daily needs can be met with the oils in this kit.”
3. AUTHENTIC ESSENTIAL OIL BLENDS
Explain that blends are combinations of different single oils that were put
together for specific benefits. Share the blends included in the Authentic
Oils Kit (or just two or three of your favorites) as examples. Pass the bottles
around and allow guests to sample using fragrance sticks.
page 17
INSPIRE BLEND
TRY SAYING THIS:
“The first blend I’d like to share is Nature’s Sunshine’s uplifiting blend called Inspire. It contains Pink
Grapefruit and other citrus oils for their bright, fresh scents, two kinds of mint, cinnamon, vanilla and
more. This blend was created to help inspire greatness, and I’ve found that it really works for me! Lots
of people use it as a perfume.”
Invite a guest to help make a roll-on bottle of Inspire. Fill a clear roll-on bottle ¾ full with NSP Carrier
Oil. Add 15–20 drops of Inspire blend. Replace the top tightly and shake to mix.
REFUGE BLEND
TRY SAYING THIS:
“Refuge is our calming blend and it’s great for when daily stresses and worries accrue. I turn to this
one when I’m feeling anxious or worried. In fact, there was a time when…and Refuge helped me to …”
Make a quick Refuge spritzer by filling a 2 oz. spray bottle with distilled water to the shoulder. Add
15 drops of Refuge, attach the sprayer and turn the bottle upside down to mix. Spray throughout the
room, being careful to spray it near guests but not on them.
page 18
RECOVER BLEND
TRY SAYING THIS:
“Another one of my personal favorites is Recover. It’s a soothing blend and is wonderful to apply to
muscles after a workout. This one is really cooling and penetrating. Let’s try it. I’m mixing four of five
drops of Carrier Oil and a couple drops of Recover blend in my hand, mixing clockwise. When you apply
stronger oils topically, it’s good to mix them with a basic carrier oil.”
In addition to passing the bottle, ask for volunteers who would like to experience the Carrier Oil blend.
Apply it to the back or sides of their necks.
CORE BLEND
TRY SAYING THIS:
“Core is a unique blend that helps us remember to be ourselves, to have balance and to feel a sense of
purpose. This one’s made of cedar, spruce, chamomile, frankincense and more.”
Ask for volunteers who would like to experience the blend, then place a drop or two in the palms of
their hands. Have them rub their palms together and breathe in deeply. Note: Be sure to remind everyone
to wash their hands and be careful not to rub their eyes, mouth, etc.
page 19
ESSENTIAL SHIELD BLEND
TRY SAYING THIS:
“Our last blend for today is one of our most powerful. It’s a great defense against the changing seasons
and is really protective. I like to diffuse this one in the kitchen, living room and our bedrooms to help
freshen the air and guard against sickness.”
4. SINGLE AUTHENTIC ESSENTIAL OILS
Share the single oils included in the Authentic Oils Kit (or just two or three of your favorites). Pass the
bottles around and allow guests to sample using fragrance sticks. Share your own experiences as you
discuss each oil.
LEMON
The clean, crisp aroma of lemon has a cleansing effect on body and
home. Stimulating and versatile, Lemon is great for a variety of
household uses.
page 20
PEPPERMINT
Peppermint is a fresh and reviving oil that uniquely possesses both cooling and warming
qualities when applied topically. It freshens and invigorates when diffused and
can help support mental performance and alertness. Nature’s
Sunshine’s Peppermint is 100% pure and organically grown.
LAVENDER
Well-known for its relaxing and peaceful fragrance, Lavender is suited for many everyday
applications. It is widely used for calm and relaxation and promotes sleep when diffused in a room.
It can also help to moisturize the skin. Nature’s Sunshine’s Lavender is certified organic.
page 21
FRANKINCENSE
Prepared from aromatic, hardened gum resins of the boswellia tree, Frankincense has a complex
aroma of spice, citrus and wood tones sought after since Biblical times. This rich aroma is famous for
its meditative and elevating properties. It is centering and comforting and is useful in meditation and
prayer. Nature’s Sunshine’s Frankincense is certified organic.
Demonstrate by placing 1 drop of Organic Frankincense, 1 drop of Peppermint and 2 to 3 drops
of Carrier Oil in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together then breathe in. Pass the oils
around the room for your attendees to do the same.
TEA TREE
Known as “the wonder from Down Under,” Tea Tree oil comes from the melaleuca tree, which is
native to Australia. Tea Tree’s sharp, clean smell makes it a popular ingredient in shampoos, lotions
and cleansers. It invigorates and restores, and
can be used topically for cleansing.
page 22
V. Offer the Sale
TRY SAYING THIS:
“If you’ve loved what you’ve seen tonight, I invite you to start your essential oil collection and save
some money with the Authentic Essentials Kit. This kit contains all 10 oils I shared today in 5 ml bottles.
The kit retails for over $187, but with a free NSP membership, which gives you access to all of Nature’s
Sunshine’s products at wholesale prices, it’s just $124.95!
“All of the oils we tried tonight are also available in the 15 ml size individually. We also carry many
additional singles and blends, and a wide variety of accessories. So if you are curious about an oil I
didn’t mention, please let me know or check your catalog for more information. If you’d like to learn
more about Nature’s Sunshine’s detox, weight management or immune support products, now’s a
great time to come check them out as well.
“While you are considering your orders, let’s do a drawing!”
VI. Giveaway
Use the spritzer and roller-ball samples you created during the presentation as giveaways. Choose
index cards from the group you collected earlier. Remember to name each sample as you draw the
winner and briefly remind everyone what is in it and how it can be used.

VII. Closing
TRY SAYING THIS:
“Thanks again for spending some time with me today. I hope you enjoyed learning about oils as much
as I did sharing my love for them. Authentic Essential Oils can soothe, uplift, inspire, invigorate and so
much more. And remember, not just any essential oil will do! Only pure, authentic oils will ensure your
safety and wellbeing.
“If you enjoyed this workshop and think the information would be beneficial to your friends and family,
I encourage you to hold your own. If you have any questions about workshops, essential oils or owning
an essential oils business like mine, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
“Thank you so much for coming. I wish you wonderful health and look forward to seeing you again!”

In addition to covering the costs of your product purchases, owning a business is a great way to discover
and develop new gifts and talents. Authentic Oils businesses also offer NSP members the opportunity to
enjoy flexible working hours and to earn a substantial income. What dream can NSP help you realize?
Take a few minutes to consider the following…
Establishing Your “Why”
Why are you considering starting your own Authentic Oils business?
What specific things do you hope your business will help you accomplish?
Your Motivators
Consider the various rewards available to NSP members (financial rewards,
learning new skills, helping others, being acknowledged, having fun, making
friends, travel, etc.). Make a list of those most important to you.
What would you do with an extra $500 a month?
Basic Business Goals
1. What are your short-term earning goals? (How much do you invest in Nature’s Sunshine products each
month? At the very least, make a goal to earn that investment back!)
In terms of commissions, what would you like to be earning in one month, three months and in six months
from today?
2. The average Authentic Oils workshop generates $200-400 in sales, which translates to an average retail
commission of around $65-130. How many workshops do you need to hold this month to achieve your
monthly goals?
page 30
READY, SET, SHARE
The single most important thing a new business owner can do to ensure success is
always be ready to share. Be prepared to quickly explain the benefits of oils with
people you don’t know and get ready to reach out to those you do.
1. 30-SECOND COMMERCIAL
The most successful business owners leverage every interaction with other people to
share the benefits of their products. They aren’t pushy or over the top, but they keep
an eye open for ways to tell others what they are passionate about.
How to leverage social situations:
• Use essential oils and wear them daily.
• S et your intentions. (Look for opportunities to share; brings samples and leave-
behind materials.)
• Know what you’ll say. Memorize your own 30-second commercial.
TRY SAYING THIS:
“I’ve just started a new business sharing Nature’s Sunshine’s Authentic Essential Oils. Oils are growing in
popularity and I know why! I use them for inspiration, stress relief, more energy – even to clean my kitchen!
I’ve learned a lot about essential oils and I love sharing their benefits with others. In fact, I host an Authentic
Oils Workshop once a week so I can share what I’ve learned with others. I’ve got a workshop scheduled for
Monday evening. Would you be interested in attending?”
page 31
2. BUILD A SHARING LIST
We all know many more people than we realize. For the purposes of building a sharing list, imagine that
every person on it is going to send you $10. Then, use a FRANKs guide.
Step 1
To start your list, write everyone you can think of associated with
the following groups…
● Friends
● Relatives
● Associates (work, civic associations, hair dresser,
massage therapist, dentist)
● Neighbors (past & present)
● Kids (teachers, team member parents, playgroups)
Step 2
Add a second layer to the original list. Who are your friends’
relatives, associates, neighbors, etc.?
3. FILL THE CALENDAR
Choose a couple of upcoming dates to hold Authentic Oils Workshops in your home. Then pick up the
phone and call the first 10 people on your sharing list and invite them to attend. (Quick tip: Don’t put the
phone down between calls!)
page 32
TRY SAYING THIS:
“I’ve just started a new business sharing Nature’s Sunshine’s Authentic Essential Oils, and I’m having an
oils workshop in my home next Tuesday. Would you be available to attend? Oils are growing in popularity
and I know why! I use them for inspiration, stress relief, more energy – even to clean my kitchen! These
workshops are fun, no-pressure opportunities to experience essential oils first-hand. I’d really love to have
your support.”
• If the person says yes, thank them and promise to give them a reminder call a day or two before
the workshop.
• If he/she can’t attend, ask if they would be willing to host
their own workshop for their friends and family at a future
date. Offer two or three available days in the next two weeks
as options.
• Ask for referrals. Ask if your friend knows anyone who
uses essential oils currently or has expressed interest in
learning more.
• Continue making calls until you’ve confirmed 10 to 12 guests
for each workshop you hope to hold this month.
• Repeat this process every month and you’ll be amazed at
how quickly your business succeeds.
