Types of wigs for a person like you.
Hair types…
Wigs as an alternative to hair are divided according to the type of hair and structure
of a cap. They are made of human hair or synthetic fiber, or a mixture of both.
On average, the First Time Wig Buyer plans to get a human hair wig.
In her opinion, only a human hair wig can provide a natural look.
That is not true anymore. Today, manufacturers provide very good
quality synthetic wigs.
The latest synthetic fiber has soft texture, realistic natural color,
retains its style and is lightweight. Additionally, it has a longer lifespan
than human hair, not to mention a price point about
one-tenth of human hair wigs.
Human hair types are based on the way the hair is collected and processed.
Depending on these factors, the price of a decent quality human hair wig
can start at $1,000. And up!
Plus, human hair wigs require styling and maintaining, same way as natural hair.
To provide the human hair appearance with lower costs,
the wig industry developed a blend of human and synthetic hair,
called differently depending on the brand. The selection of styles made
of it is limited and generally available only long hair styles.
Recently, the innovative heat resistant, called also heat-friendly,
synthetic fiber is used for wigs making them less expensive
than human hair wigs. New synthetic wigs can be curl or straightened
with an iron to set different looks. Although, the constant use of
a heating iron shortens a wig’s lifespan.
…and cap types.
Cap designs vary from brand to brand incorporating these basic structures in
certain areas of the cap:
Open Cap. Open for comfort and better air circulation and machine woven.
Lace Front. The hair is tied one by one on a lace matte for a natural and
customized fit. Mimics the natural hairline.
Monofilament. Hand tied on a silky base for multi-directional parting while
providing an appearance of completely natural growth.
Caps come in average, petite and large sizes. The most common size is
average since it fits over 90% of women. In addition, the cap
can be adjusted and easily re-adjusted, for your comfort.

Choosing the brand.
There are several wig brands with an established reputation.
They differ in features such as cap construction, quality of fiber, j
ust to name a few. The way to make a wise decision is to visit
your wig retailer that offers several top quality brands and presents
them in a personalized way.
Be aware that buying online from foreign retailers
you may get a product that’s not worth the money you paid.
There are online companies, who use images stolen from
reputable wig makers and produce counterfeit wigs based
on popular styles. The quality of delivered wigs is far
from the one you expect based on the online offer.
Wigs for chemo patients.
Hair loss related to the chemo treatment is sudden and a scalp
becomes sensitive and sore. Also, chemo patients usually
wear wigs all day long. With this in mind, the best type of wigs
for cancer patients is a monofilament soft cap
and durable fiber. The wig should last for the time
of your treatment and hair re-growing.
To provide greater comfort, you may use
a cotton wig liner. This fitted cap absorbs perspiration
and protects your scalp from itching.
Taking care of your wig.
SYNTHETIC WIG CARE INSTRUCTIONS
· Before washing a wig gently brush it to remove any tangles.
· Fill a sink or basin with cool water and add 1 cupful of shampoo for synthetic
hair.
· Gently lather the hair and swish a wig in water mixture. Agitate gently without
rubbing.
· Rinse thoroughly with cold water and blot gently with a towel to remove excess
moisture.
· DO NOT wring or twist.
· Shake wig vigorously to detangle. Hang upside down to air dry or place on a
towel overnight.
· DO NOT blow dry. Excessive heat can damage the fibers.
TIPS: When wearing a wig be cautious when exposed to heat such as ovens or
outdoor grills.
For styling use your fingertips and a wig brush to avoid static electricity.
To extend a wigs life and to hold your desired style wig care products
may be used.
HUMAN HAIR WIG CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Human hair wigs are washed same way using hair conditioning products to
hydrate and smoothen hair.
Styling tools should be set no higher than 350F.
TIPS: When curling your human hair, you can use small metal clips to hold
each curl while cooling for a tighter, longer-lasting curl. For a looser,
more natural looking curl, allow curls to hang when cooling.

Customizing a wig.
Wigs worn “out of the box” do not always provide the very best look.
For your comfort, the cap can be adjusted and easily re-adjusted. Depending on
the brand, circumference is adjustable using Velcro strips or elastic bands and
metal stucks.
To assure the most comfortable fit, the cap may be altered by a professional.
To flatter your face the best, trimming of a bang and volume can be done.
