Navigating Rural
Landscapes as
2SLGBTQ+ Youth
GREY-BRUCE
COLLABORATIVE ZINE
LGBT YouthLine acknowledges that the land we
work on throughout Ontario is colonized land, and
encompasses an array of Indigenous territories.
YouthLine works in this community,
in this context, on this territory.
This zine was created by and for 2SLGBTQ+
♥youth from Grey & Bruce Counties.
During the summer of 2019, LGBT YouthLine’s Provincial
Youth Ambassador Project facilitated a province-wide
needs assessment about what 2SLGBTQ+ youth want/
need in their communities.
The responses of youth in rural regions overwhelmingly
stated that more gathering spaces and events are needed
to build connections and relationships. From this stated
need, the youth ambassador in Grey-Bruce decided to
host a gathering space to work collaboratively on a
‘2SLGBTQ+ youth zine’ based in Grey-Bruce.
The gathering was held in November, 2019
at M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre, and
facilitated by the Youth Ambassador local to the area.
A huge thank you to Make it Wright and M’Wikwedong
Indigenous Friendship Centre for making this zine a reality!
Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
With love,
the PYAP Team.
