A workshop was organized for all the members of SIF Bahrain with Shri. Jayant Rao

Sahasrabudhe on 25 Oct 2014. The annual report upto the Award ceremony was
presented. Shri Sahasrabudhe gave a brief explanation on Vijnana Bharati activities
and guidance on the way forward for SIF Bahrain activities.
SASTRAYAAN-2015
SIF Bahrain arranged a 3 day educational trip “SASTRAYAAN-2015” for the Sastra
st
Pratibhas to New Delhi on 29/30/31 Jan 2015. A 42 member team comprising of
Sastra Pratibhas, their accompanying parents and the SIF representatives were in
the team. During this trip, the students visited Brahmos - Research & Design Centre,
Headquartered in New Delhi. They had a wonderful opportunity to see the missile and
arms technology developments of India and they also had an opportunity to interact
directly with the senior scientist and the Director of Brahmos, Dr.Sudhir Mishra.
The other days the team visited CSIR, and Ministry of Science & Technology (DST).
During the interaction with the Scientists and the DST officials, the participants got
more insight into the DST’s plan and programmes for promoting Science education in
India and abroad. Information was provided on how the science students can utilize
the DST support for their future studies. The Sastra Pratibhas and their parents
had a very informative interaction session with Dr. V.K. Saraswat, (Former Chairman
of DRDO, Member of newly constituted Niti Aayog) and also a session with Vijnana
Bharati Secretary – General, Sri A. Jayakumar, at CSIR Headquarters, New Delhi.
T The visit to the National Physical laboratory, a place where the standards of
measurements were set for Indian market was an eye opener for many.
OR The team visited Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, where the participants could see the
space craft module and the spacesuit that astronaut Rakesh Sharma used during his
space travel. The show at planetarium on the space and galaxy was informative and
enjoyed by all the students and parents.
Prior to the return to Bahrain, the team had a sight seeing day in Delhi, covering
EP Rajbhavan, Qutub Minar etc. Most of the Sastra Pratibhas and their parents were
the historic monuments such as Amar Javan Jyothi, Rajpath, Parliament house,
seeing the national capital for the first time.
The feedback from the Sastra Pratibhas after their visit to these prestigious institutions
in New Delhi, was very encouraging to the SIF volunteers and the supporters.
R Meeting and Interaction with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
SIF Bahrain Executive members along with the Sastra Pratibhas-2014, got a lifetime
opportunity to meet and interact with the world renowned missile Scientist and the

former President of India, Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on the 5 Feb 2015 during his
visit to Kingdom of Bahrain. Dr. APJ spent a considerable amount of time with the SIF
Members and Sastra Pratibhas at The Ritz Carlton Hotel. He congratulated the Sastra
L Pratibhas and motivated them to focus on higher level achievements. Many of the
participants mentioned that a dream has come true for them on that day.

The annual meeting of SIF Bahrain was convened on 13 March 2015. All members
were invited and full participation was seen at the meeting. SIF’s 2014 activities were
improve the quality of SPC, more Science related activities for students and the working
class in the coming years. The internal audited accounts statement was presented
and passed. The members unanimously requested the same executive committee to
continue for one more year to serve in their respective positions and make the forum
further a stronger organisation and continuous progress in its path ahead.
SPC School Coordinators Meeting- 2015

For the successful execution of Sastra Pratibha Contest, it was very vital for the school to understand the process of the
contest. In this context, we met with the School Principals and requested for a representative from the school. This person

is our point of contact for all SIF activities. Most of the Coordinators were the

same as last year. SPC Coordinators meeting was conducted on 25 April,
2015. During that meeting, a brief presentation on the SP Contest procedure
was given to the school coordinators. This year the SPC contest was designed
to perform in 2 stages as Level-1 and Level-2. In the Level-1 contest, the
present practice of objective questions and answers will continue and 10
toppers from each grade will be selected. These 10 toppers from each grade
will be contesting in Level-2 on a multi talent test. Their performance will be
assessed in four different type of contests such as scientific reasoning, quiz,
identification round and research ability. The details of the procedure of the
EPORT
SPC was explained to coordinators and their questions clarified.
Sastra Pratibha Contest [SPC]-2015
Enrolment for Sastra Pratibha Contest-2015 started in the 2 nd week of
May 2015. 7563 students enrolled for the contest in 2015. The schools that
participated were Asian School, The Indian School, New Indian School, New
Horizon School, New Millennium School, Al Noor International School and
Quality Education School.
The SPC-2015 was conducted on 1st June 2015, from 11.00am to 12.00
noon in all participating schools at the same time in Bahrain. The same day
the answer sheets are collected from schools and sent to Vijnana Bharati for
evaluation.

The result of 1st level contest has declared by Vijnana Bharati on 16 by

June 2015 and it has handed over to respective schools on the 17 of June
2015. 79 top performed students from the contest have qualified for the 2nd
level contest and the “A+” and “A” title winners also listed in the contest
results.
R As a preliminary preparation to 2 nd level contest, SIF has given the guidelines
to the SPC- 1st level toppers and provided them with topics for their research
work.

The second level multi talent contest was conducted 17 Oct 2015 at Asian
School premises and was under the supervision of a higher level professional
l body. 78 students attended the level 2 assessments which were held as a Science Camp. They were assessed for
multiple intelligence with the support of international education experts from Australia and New Zealand. The
results were published by Mr. Anand Prakash, IFS, Second Secretary at Indian Embassy Media hall on 20 th Oct
2015.

Oct 2015, (Gandhi Jayanti). 108 volunteers and well-wishers donated blood to the
Central Blood Bank, at Salmaniya Hospital, Bahrain.
Parents’ Meet and Seminar

Science India forum arranged a Parents’ meet on 16 Oct 2015, in Bahrain Society of Engineers Hall, Juffair.
The meeting had a crowd of more than 300 attendees, this included Students, Parents, School coordinators,
teachers and well-wishers. The Hon. President of SIF-Bahrain congratulated the parents for their children’s
achievement. In this meeting there was a session for parents and students on the subject “Course Selection for
Higher studies”. A program designed and delivered by Mr. Syamkumar, an expert counselor in Bahrain. The
feedback received after the session was very encouraging.

present at the award ceremony-2015. Further SIF planned an interactive session of Dr. Raju Narayanaswamy

with the students and science loving audience on the 14 Nov 2015 at Indian School.
Upon review of last three years of voluntary work to the society, Science India Forum-Bahrain had a very
successful journey towards departing the awareness of science education. At this moment, I take this opportunity
to express my sincere gratitude to the Executive Committee, Volunteers, Teachers, School Coordinators,
Supporters and Well-Wishers, those have extended their self less efforts, valuable time and enthusiasm to SIF
Bahrain for achieving success in our goal to promote science to the upcoming generation
