Happy 50th Birthday!
12th January 2016

On 12th January 2016, the school celebrated its 50th birthday. Led by Mrs
Marshall, the children enjoyed a birthday assembly with a birthday cake
and gold balloons! This was the start of the celebrations, which included
the children’s party and Golden Ball in May and culminated in the
Summer Fair on 9th July 2016.

50th Birthday Celebrations

Many Happy Returns!

We have enjoyed a wonderful Golden Anniversary during 2016, looking
both backward and forward. The Butlers Court alumni, who visited us in
May, shared their school memories with the children and provided the
current pupils with inspiration for the future.

It is to the future we must now look. The buildings may be developed,
technology will definitely march on, new educational initiatives will
probably pour out of statute and children will transition through the
school, but Butlers Court will continue to hold true to its vision in
maximising the opportunities for every child to feel successful and grow
with both confidence and courtesy. These are precious years of childhood
and, although academic success remains important, these years should
also be filled with joy, wonder, a love of learning and lasting happy
memories.

Happy 50th Birthday Butlers Court and many happy returns!

Butlers Court 50th Anniversary Song
By Michelle McLellan

More than a million words have been spoken
In the 50 years our school has been open
What have all the children been taught
At our fantastic school Butlers Court

Caring and sharing, being a good friend
Even if you’re feeling sad, our tears we will mend
Success and achievement, respect and commitment

Lessons in life that you can share and lend

Celebrating our years of success
Believing in oneself is the best
Even when we make mistakes
A little courage is all it takes

Caring and sharing, being a good friend
Even if you’re feeling sad, our tears we will mend
Success and achievement, respect and commitment

Lessons in life that you can share and lend

Trying our best to encourage one another
All our friends, your sister, my brother

Trying our best to encourage one another
All our friends, your sister, my brother

Won’t be here for very long
Butlers Court is where we belong
Values that came from our start
We’ll always remember in our heart

Caring and sharing, being a good friend
Even if you’re feeling sad, our tears we will mend
Success and achievement, respect and commitment

Lessons in life that you can share and lend
Lessons in life that you can share and lend

Thank you

This 50th anniversary book has been produced by the Alumni Team to celebrate the
legacy created by 50 years of Butlers Court School. We would like to thank the
Beaconsfield Old Church School Charity for their generous support of this project.
The team, Sarah Doyle, Elaine Conway, Debbie Denyer, Rachel Ferguson, Caroline
Melville-Smith, Rhiannon Scott, would like to express their gratitude to the following
members of our incredible school community for their support:
• Mrs Marshall, who championed our project from the outset and supported it all the

way through
• Mrs Fowler, who helped us co-ordinate all the contributions
• All our highly committed members of staff at Butlers Court, Teachers, Teaching

Assistants, Office Staff, Dinner Ladies and of course our Caretaker Mr Stone, for
allowing us to add to their heavy workload
• Nicki Edwards, who documented the alumni visits and so much more...
• All our families who supported us, making time to run the alumni activities
• All the Alumni who got in touch and shared their memories
• Miles Davey for all his help with the many pictures
• All those who allowed us to use their images, including the Bucks Free Press,
Get Bucks, Beaconsfield and District Historical Society, The Beaconsfield Community
Magazine, Studio 67, and Jenny Kaye Photography *

Throughout its 50 year history, Butlers Court families have wholeheartedly supported
their school. The Alumni Team have been privileged to work alongside an army of
tireless and talented volunteers who they would like to recognise below:
The Ball Team, led by Catherine Wright and Lucy Hay, for their extraordinary efforts
putting on our biggest Ball ever. They along with Louise Hayes and a dedicated group
of Year 5 parents also organised our stunning Children's Anniversary Party
The Events Team, Hannah Woodrow and Ellie Hartley, for hosting Glow, Glow Lite,
Bootcamp and the Casino.

As ever, all of the events, initiatives and efforts at the school have been overseen by
the Parent Teacher Association. The parents of the PTA work tirelessly year round to
enrich our children's school experience. Over the last five years they have raised an
astonishing £150,000, which has provided a new dining hall, dedicated art building,
gym equipment, astro-turf, stage and playground markings to name but a few of their
projects. On behalf of all our current pupils and families, we extend our gratitude to all
the PTA, especially our Co-Chairs Anna Ainger and Krista Swan, Treasurer Gemma
Jones and Secretary Katie Robertson.

We hope you enjoyed reading about the history and legacy of Butlers Court as much as
we have enjoyed discovering and documenting it. If the engagement of the school's
staff, pupils and parents in our anniversary year are any indication of the future legacy
now being created, then the next 50 years should be even more successful.
