Our daily lives depend heavily on
communication, which is at the centre of all we
do. Communication is defined as "who says what
to whom in what channel with what impact".
Effective communication involves the effective
exchange of information from one project point
to another. In the modern world, there are many
different definitions and notions of
communication. But given the significance of
communication in project management, we may
claim that everything about a project depends on
how well we do this. An important instrument in
project management is communication. It is
becoming more significant every day and will
eventually serve as the hub of all management
procedures. The effectiveness of a project's
communication network has a significant impact
on its outcome. It begins to operate on the first
day of the project and keeps going for the
duration of it.

Briefing and Planning Phases
- Complex and significant product production occurs during construction. Therefore,
in order to accomplish a project's goal, the client and design team must effectively
communicate in order to gather data and information about the project, including
the project's location and current state, the desired building design, the project's
budget, the suitability of the project's materials, and the project's manpower
requirements, among other things.

Construction phases
- Due to the involvement of
numerous parties,
communication between
building stakeholders is crucial
during the construction phase. It
is not just a client-contractor
relationship in terms of
communication; there are also
other relationships at play, such
as main con and sub con, pm and
workers, S.O. and contractor.

Getting approval
- Project construction requires
many forms to approve. For
example, getting approval of
drawing design, specification
and variation works from clients,
approval of site location, safety
and health from authority and
etc. Mostly, in this situation, it
will involve written
communication. For example,
through email.

STRENGTHEN THE TEAMS

Communication strengthens teams and contributes to confidence-
building. The phrase "the whole is larger than the sum of its parts"
has been used before. Communication that is both clear and efficient
is the key to building strong teams. An efficient team closely
communicates with one another in order to anticipate problems and
come up with innovative solutions. If it succeeds, people become
more confident in their skills moving ahead since they know they can
achieve the same achievement as a communicative team.

ENHANCES TEAM MANAGEMENT

Communication enhances team management. The vision and
objective of the project can be expressed effectively by effective
project managers. They assist building crews by providing ideas,
potential fixes, and assistance in getting rid of obstacles. Team
members are aware of and take note of managers who
communicate clearly. Results are driven by management's ability to
set the tone for productive communication on projects.

CONSTRUCTION 4.0:

CHALLENGES & BENEFITS

Insight to the benefits and challenges of latest communication

technology applied in construction project management

THE CHALLENGES
The major challenge of communication technology in construction 4.0 is brought on by the lack of
professionals who are skilled in using this equipment effectively. The main method for connecting
the IOT device with the system for data transmission into the information will be an internet
connection while using the device. Other than that, according to Rad & Ahmada, 2017, lack of
understanding among construction stakeholders, especially for small and medium-sized
companies due to their limited exposure to the global construction industry and technology.
Furthermore, some companies are willing to adapt since new technology is always changing,
necessitating them to perform the required upgrades and adjustments, which would waste their
time and result in additional expenses each time the IOT devices were modified. By controlling
the requirements for utilizing IOT at construction sites, government enforcement is essential to
boosting the use of IT in the construction sector. This may be accomplished by requiring them to
operate their project using techniques such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), cloud
computer, big data, sensor and remote operation.

MONITORING T4E.0C: HRNECOOLOMGMYEINNDCAOTNIOSNTRUCTION

Almost every industry, including construction, can certify to the importance of the Internet of PROJECT
Things (IoT), since internet connectivity has replaced other communication methods between MANAGEMENT
people and technology. The Internet of Things (IoT) idea includes three key elements: linked
things, connectivity, and infrastructure, as well as analytics and apps. Furthermore, this IOT can
"connected things" which refers to smart gadgets with sensors that can detect environmental
factors and send that information to a cloud network. Then, via the use of data integration and
procedures, meaningful information is generated that can be accessible by all parties involved in
the same project via internet connectivity. Finally, the information's output will be transformed
into applicable apps for future action and help with the project's accurate decision-making
(Ibrahim et al., 2021)

In order to guarantee that the growth of the project and
the environment on the construction site are smooth and
maintained on track at all times, site monitoring is a
crucial component of the construction process. The two
parts of construction site monitoring are the tracking of
on-site workers and machinery activity (track the
machinery). The project team may stay on track and
capture the huge amount and diversity of data
throughout the whole project period automatically with
the exact data that cannot be handled manually by the
project team by using the IoT for monitoring. Moreover,
IoT also records data from human tracking and industrial
machines utilizing GPS, RFID, sensors, and drones. The
project team may access the information from these
devices via mobile, tablet, and computer, which is helpful
in managing the time and expense of the project at every
step of development as well as improving the monitoring
system to be more effective and efficient.

Project management considers time, cost,
quality, and project scope as the four main
factors of project success. Due to ineffective
management at the time, the majority of
projects previously faced difficulties with those
essential indicators in finishing a project within
the time given and on a limited budget.
Although with the IoT application, project
management is easier to handle since you can
digitally track the whole project's development
using a 3D model. The digitization of 3D models
helps project management use project
resources, monitor vehicle equipment, follow
project progress, spot errors and conflicts
sooner, provide real-time data, and effectively
manage project schedule and cost.

7 CONCLUSION

In conclusion, effective communication is
essential to project management since it
keeps everything on track and moving
along smoothly. It ensures that everyone on
the team is in agreement with the project
goals and is aware of their specific
responsibilities. Additionally, it promotes
trust, which improves teamwork from the
start to finish of the project. In project
management, communication refers to the
notion of exchanging ideas and thoughts
amongst those working on related or
comparable activities.

Project management is a process that
requires effective communication. It
ensures that everyone expert engaged in
the project is aware of the objectives and
standards. Professionals may work more
quickly because to this, and their work is
often improved. Although communication
is a major concern for project managers, it
is equally crucial for other professionals
working on the project to put up significant
effort to advance their communication
abilities. However, projects will be finished
on schedule and under budget when there
is good communication between all
stakeholders.
