Columbus area, is this: “In my experience, the

churches that decide to give a contemporary
service a try, do just that….and only that.” To add

to our repertoire of praising God, to reach out to

young and vibrant metro Columbus, we need to

commit to find our way. Like a start-up company,
we’ll be learning as we go, making use of good

advice and traditional Presbyterian resources.
For many (myself included), “contemporary”

has negative connotations: among them,

implying that a traditional service with organ,
choirs, and hymns is outmoded. That’s a

laughable notion at WPC, where our traditional

service draws hundreds every week, for the

music and the message. For this reason, we will
use the word “casual” to describe the New

Connections service. Compared to the 10:00

a.m. service, New Connections will be come-as-

you-are, laid-back, while still presenting the

message of the day amidst excellent music of a

different style.
