Setelah mendapatkan gelar S1, Hariadi mulai
terjun sebagai pekerja sosial disamping mengajar.
Dari sanalah ia kemudian mengawali karier
politik­nya. “Kalau saya berada di kelompok yang
lebih besar, apalagi lembaga politik, jangkauan
pengabdian masyarakat saya bisa lebih luas. Itulah
yang membuat saya terjun ke politik,” ucapnya.
Hariadi kemudian bergabung dengan Partai
Golongan Karya (Golkar). Partai ini membawa
dia ke Senayan pada pemilihan legislatif (Pileg)
periode 1992-1997, dan pada periode berikutnya.
Setelah itu ia kembali menekuni bidang pekerja
sosial sambil berbisnis.
Tahun 2014 Partai Nasional Demokrat
(Nasdem) berdiri. Hariadi kembali tergoda terjun
ke arena politik. Ia bergabung dengan partai
besutan Surya Paloh ini. “Ketika itu saya dipilih
menjadi Ketua NasDem DKI,” ungkap pria Betawi
ini. Lima kader NasDem ia antar ke kursi DPRD
DKI, sedang seorang lainnya, menuju “Senayan”.
Sukses mengantar rekan-rekannya ke kursi
legislatif, Hariadi mencalonkan diri sebagai
anggota legislatif di DPRD DKI pada Pileg 2019.
Ia merebut sembilan ribu suara dari sebagian
warga Kecamatan Kemayoran, Tanah Abang,
Johar Baru, Senen, Menteng, Gambir, Sawah
Besar, dan Cempaka Putih.

kembali mencalonkan diri sebagai anggota legis­
latif, dan terpilih. Kini ia duduk di Komisi A, dan
menjadi Ketua Fraksi NasDem DPRD DKI.
Menurutnya persoalan kemiskinan di DKI tak
bisa hanya diselesaikan dengan bantuan-bantuan
sosial. “Yang lebih utama dalam mengatasi kemis­
kinan itu justru membangkitkan sektor kewira­
usahaan,” tandas Wibi.
