2 animated shows + movies I like: Shows: -Arcane -Natsume Yuujinchou (Natsume's Book of Friends) Movies: -Your Name -Summer Ghost Why I LOVE those shows/movies: -For "Arcane", the story line may be confusing but the way the animation is drawn and how the main character is the villain really draws me in the show. -"Natusme Yuujinchou" is a cute anime featuring Natsume as the main character who tries to live normal life even though he can see "Yokai", which are Japanese mystical creatures. In each episode he faces new Yokais and set them free in the Book of Friends his grandmother made. He sets out on a journey with his weird and cute looking cat Nyanko-sensei, who is actually a powerful Yokai called Madara. -"Your Name" and "Summer Ghost" has a heartwarming ending. "Your Name" is nice because of how the two met and ended up together and the play of time. While "Summer Ghost" shows how these group of friends met a ghost and help her find the murderer to set her wandering soul free. At the end of the movie, one of the main characters friend passes on which made me tear up.
2 animated shows + movies I dislike: Shows: -Miraculous Ladybug -RWBY Movies: -The Bee Movie -Ponyo Why i DISLIKE those shows/movies: -"Miraculous Ladybug" is too long talking about love and fighting villains. The love between the main character and her love interest gets annoying and complicated which made me give up on watching it. And all 5 seasons are getting worse. -"RWBY" started off well from Volume 1-3 but shot down the moment Volume 4 launched after the creator of the show passed on. The production changed the storyline and made the whole entire show even more confusing. There might be character development in the main character, but the way they want to defeat the villain cannot be done since she is immortal. They still insisted on continuing. -"The Bee Movie" is just weird, a woman and a bee falling in love. The entire movie didn't make sense either which made me lose interest few minutes in. -"Ponyo" might be created by Studio Ghibli which is famous for creating many wonderful anime movies, but Ponyo didn't stood out to me. the storyline was boring and had no unique things to it which bored me out.
Some Story Ideas: 1) "ME" -Girl has been bullied for many years because of her low self esteem when she transferred schools. She has an interest in true crime and wants to be a top detective when she starts working. However she gets bullied for her interest and one day snaps. She decided to become the villain instead of the hero. Using her knowledge of the documentaries she watched and hatched out the perfect crime no one could solve. 2) "Undercover Runaway" -Girl is an illegitimate child of the royal family and has been outcasted. She tries to run away from all the abuse she has been suffering from the family and wanted to escape when a diplomat from another country came. She took the chance and escaped with her brother. However, her brother is fragile and easily scared, furthermore, there are guards crawling all around the palace and she is unable to access some areas of the palace. Luckily, the diplomat passes her and she takes that chance to tell the diplomat and escape with her.
3) "Everything Before Us" Girl wants to search for her own marriage partner but her parents did an arranged marriage with a man who she does not know, she picks her childhood friend who coincidentally likes her and she picks up those feelings along the way. Rumia is a Princess who is going to be crowned as a future Queen. She believes in true love and not some love that is built after marriage. She tells her parents that she is going to find her fated one and prove to them that she can do it. But her parents without Rumia's approval, already arranged with one of the Young Lord of the Marquis. The Young Lord of the Marquis was known to by a playboy and thought this was the chance to grab Rumia. Rumia did not want this and was pressured greatly by her parents, since they chose it for her. This made Rumia furious and she decided to come up with a plan that would make her parents forget about the marriage and allow her to break the tradition of the marriage within the royal family. Rumia picked her childhood friend whom she made friends with during her days when she was training as a young knight. Little did she know that he likes her and he happily agreed. As months passes by, she picks up his feelings and gradually fell in love with him as well, giving them a happy ending.
4) "I Will Rule it My Way" -Girl gets bullied by her classmates. She was just a transfer student seeking a new life. She wanted to seek help but the other classmates of her could not help her since they are afraid of the bullies. She tried to stand up for herself but the teachers does not believe her because they were bribed and also she was threatened to leave the school since the the main bully was a rich girl. However this does not stop her and she takes videos in secret by putting cameras in areas that no one sees and she uploads them online. This causes an uproar on the internet nd the rich girl not only got reprimanded by her parents but her father's company experienced many downfalls causing distraught in the family. Many praised the girl for being upstrong in holding in the bully to show this online, while many disliked her for secretly putting cameras up just to expose her. Despite all of these, the girl was awarded for her bravery and she became famous and was looked up by many people, mainly to those who were bullied. I am using "ME: for my final!
Title of my story: Genre: -Gore -Psychological drama Logline: Girl, a transfer student, wanted to make new friends, only to be bullied another, that breaks her late mothers memento, leading her to chose violence.
The Story: A girl named Ria enjoys watching true crime documentaries. Because of this girls bully her for having weird interest in crimes. She watches them to be like the detectives in the show, however, her bullies told her she will never be a detective like them, calls her dumb and weird. This piles up onto her mindset. She wants to prove them wrong but they mocked her even more. The leader of the bullies is Citrus, she draws on her table, soaks her books and places different small dead animals in her bag everyday. Not only that she is used and joked around everyday making Ria's self esteem lower than before thinking she will never become like those detectives. One day, Citrus breaks her precious item she carries as good luck given to her by her deceased mother, and Ria snapped. She loses the only thing precious to her and decided to be a villain instead of the hero and gets revenge on Citrus and her gang. All emotions left Ria as she decided to use the knowledge she learnt from the documentaries. Ria took a few days off from school to hatch the perfect crime. After she finished, she executed the plan. Days passes and some students from the school started disappearing. As their bodies are found one by one, other students started to transfer schools to save themselves from the horror. A few weeks later, Ria goes home after school one day and turns on the television to hear the news. She switches to the news channel to listen in on the latest news. On the news shows the hottest news, that showed a picture of Citrus, the first victim whose body was found floating on the river bank, no evidence was found and they could not track the killer. As Ria heard this, she grinned from ear to ear knowing she succeeded.
3 Act Structure: Act 1: A girl named Ria, likes watching true crime documentaries. She was a transfer student at that time and wanted to make friends. Telling others her interest, she immediately became an outcast and was bullied by a few girls. They told her that she could never be a great detective like them and she can't even stand up for herself. Not only that they called her dumb and weird for her interests. Act 2.1: Ria mainly gets bullied by a girl named Citrus. She and her friends are popular in the school for picking on others and being notorious. Citrus picked on Ria because she was an easy target. She would constantly draw on her table, wet her books and put in small dead animals in her bag to scare her. Ria tries to confront her but to no avail. Act 2.2: She decided to make everyone who humiliated her and picked on her in school regret but didn't know where to start or if she could carry out her plan because of her low self esteem. As Citrus pranks and bullying got worse, she snapped causing her to lose emotions as Citrus destroys something
Act 2.2: precious to her. This allows Ria to do her crime she planned out perfectly for some time. Act 3: Ria carried out her plans everyday as she planned without failure. Everyday she would do different crimes to students to bullied her. The students in the school grew lesser and lesser due to the high deaths by her crimes and the amount of students transferring out to another school to escape the horror. In the end, not even the top detective could figure out the murderer. At the end of one school day, Ria went home and sat on a couch. She turned on the television to hear the news which was featuring the most gruesome unsolved case of the student Citrus. As she listens in on the news, she grins from ear to ear loving the outcome of the crimes she did.
Story setting: It is cloudy as students walk into the school. The school is a Japanese school. The building is four storeys high with a running field, swimming pool and many more facilities. At the gate are many trees along the pavements. As students walk in and some gets personally driven to the gate, the main school building looks like an inverted L. These few people who are driven to the gate gets out of the car elegantly and everyone stares at them in awe. Ria's hands shake as she enters the gates since it is her new school year in a new school. The darkened clouds were not agreeing with her as she new that today might not be a good day. She observed the school, as she sees the clock tower, garden, field, pool, archery field. She enters the teacher's staff room and observed well before walking towards her classroom on the 2nd floor nearest to the end of the inverted L shaped building that is nearest to the gates. Ria's behaviour was judged by the teacher. A lightning strikes as she opens the door of the classroom where everyone is seated in a one to one configuration, stares at her.

Backstory: Ria was a kind and loving child until her mother passed on when she was 15. Before her mother left, she left her a precious necklace she wears everyday but hides it under the clothes to attract attention.

Because of her background, she thinks she is better than everyone and that they should show her big amount of respect.

Character Arc: -Barney wanted a B-Bot like everyone else at his school because that was how people made friends. When Barney got his own BBot, he was not functioning normally like how all the other BBots does. Because of this Barney wanted to return the B-Bot but encountered a group of boys who bullied him for having a BBot with no skin on it. The B-Bot protected Barney and Barney soon learned to like him. -Barney woke up in the hospital and got back Ron, but Ron was upgraded and renewed with a new system. Barney did not want that and wanted the old Ron back. Luckily Ron's system was in the cloud and could be retrieved back. Barney went to the cloud where all the B-Bots servers are to get Ron back, but in the process of getting him back he realises that his friends are now in his shoes, lonely and without any friends. He needed to make a choice on saving his friends or saving Ron. As time runs out and the workers about to capture him, he gave up Ron to save his friends, for the better. Movie: Ron's Gone Wrong Logline: A middle school boy could not make friends, gets a broken robot for his birthday, and became his best friend. Now, the lesson on week 6, Ms Renee did something different. She screened us a movie and we needed to write out the logline, character arc and the 3 point structure of the movie.
B-Bot is introduced. Barney is scene riding his scooter to school while everyone rides their B-Bot. As he reaches school he is bullied by 3 boys his age. After school, he went back home and demanded a B-Bot as his birthday present from his father and grandmother. They brought him to the shop but it was closed. When they were going home the father saw a broken B-Bot and bought it illegally. When Barney received the B-Bot he was very happy and became friends with it even though he knew the BBot was broken. Barney also saved his B-Bot from being crushed and recycled so that he can continue being friends with it. Act 1: The B-Bot company finds out that the bot is not crushed and went to search for it. Barney brings the B-Bot, Ron to school, and the other robots copy his data of being able to hit humans, resulting in chaos in the middle school. Barney was mad at Ron. But even then they made up and ran away because of the B-Bot company chasing after them. Barney fled into the woods for safety thinking he was ok in there. Act 2:
But Barney suffered an asthma attack when he was trying to find his way home. Ron used his last remaining battery to save Barney. When Barney wakes up form the hospital, the CEO of the B-Bot company renews his BBot which thought would made him happy but Barney loved the Ron he himself created and demanded it back. The CEO at the same time was fired and planned to get back his position and decided to help Barney. Barney, his father and his grandmother sneaked in to find Ron that was stored in the cloud. Barney eventually found Ron and booted him up. But Barney saw that his friends were in his shoes and made a hard decision to save his friends. He uploaded Ron's database into their B-Bot so that their B-Bot can be like Ron, a forever friend that everyone wanted. The creator of B-Bot becomes the CEO again. 3 months later when Barney goes back to school, he is back with his old friend group, making him happy again. Act 3:
Week 9: My story was not complete and it needed more work. the areas that needed work was how Ria got her pendant, why did she change and why did Citrus become a bully. I changed the story drastically: I made Citrus the protagonist and Ria the antagonist. 1. Instead of actual knife murdering, I made Citrus just kill Ria so that I do not exceed the 3 minutes timeline of the animatic. 2. I made the friends of Citrus betray her by siding Ria 3. 4.I focused more on Citrus' backstory.
Week 10: From week 10-12, I had to do a group presentation on different cartoon short films and decipher it like the logline, 3 act structure, environment and many more. The first film that my group did was "The Present" The logline, theme and synopsis was done by Angelina and Ngoc.
I did 2 slides. However this slide above was wrong as the flow of the story is chronological fashion. The story did not flow from Problem to Solution as stated above.
Week 11: In week 11, my group did characters on the short film Piper. I worked on 3 slides, each with different people.
Week 12: Lastly me and my team worked on the environmental features of this short film, One Small Step.
In this 3 weeks watching and deciphering each small cartoon film for their character, their storyline and their environment helped me better understand and how i can do my animatic to create that effect that I want my viewers to see when they watch my animatic. This whole entire content helped me learn many things like how to make a story, whether short or long and how to point out the different acts, environment and character in the shows and movies. Not only that to also develop my character and how to make each and every one of them different and unique.
Crafting of skills: Volume 2:
Lesson 1: As the first lesson starts, I immediately liked this lesson. This is because it focuses on anatomy, background and facial expressions, which allows me to greatly improve on what I am lacking in my art. I was tasked to draw 20 stick figures from any pose, and also to draw the pose of my classmate which she did pose for about 10 minutes.
Next, I realised that when i am drawing a body or anatomy, from shoulder to shoulder is exactly about 3 heads length and the hand should be about as big as the face, if not it will look unproportionate. As the lesson ends, I was given homework to draw facial expressions of my classmates. Allowed to use my art style, I used my classmates face, Bertha, and drew many different expressions using her face.
Lesson 2: Now I am fully taught on how to draw anatomy from real life perspective and it was really fun but challenging since I already have a style I usually draw in for anatomy, but since this is real life, I have to draw it because this might help me greatly in my own way. First off, my classmate Chin Toh was used as an example and we had to draw him. It was a bit challenging but I tried. He actually moved quite abit which made it a little harder for me to draw consistently. I actually drew the body and the arms too long and the legs too big resulting the whole entire picture to be out of frame. I am still getting there!
Next, we went outside to draw the 2 statues on the link bridge just outside the kids art rooms. Since they were stationary, drawing them was pretty easy. I actually really like these sketches of the statues because the body proportions are actually quite accurate which made me happy about my skills. I learnt that even if i have my own way of drawing, I still need to learn these because my clients might not like my art style and might favour these type of art styles instead.
I drew a simple sketch of my friend sitting on the chair while drawing the statue to improve my drawing before going out on the mini art trip to draw more people. I actually had to draw myself in different cartoon styles as homework. I did not know we had to do it until other classes did it as homework and I did as well. This is just some small sketches of my art style and some anatomy I actually draw using my art style which I'm more comfortable with
Lesson 4 & 5: For both lessons, I was taken to Bugis and Little India to draw still life for my A3 presentation board.

for the entire rest of the module: we learnt about how to use adobe illustration. I did an isometric view on my characters bedroom but it is not coloured. I tried my best and I liked how it turned out in the end. I also had to work on my final A2 board that consists of 8 expressions and anatomy of my character, and also an environment featuring my Main Character. My lecturer taught me many things and how to better improve my A2 board like how the lighting and shadow should be placed. Some other extra points were using monochromatic as shading first to better see the shading and lighting so that i will have an easier time colouring it in the colours I want. my isometric

Lesson 1: This module content is slowly teaching me how to do animation frame by frame, and how to make fast ad slow movements smoothly. This lesson shocked me as Mr Roi taught us different camera angles and the names of the different camera angles. To me, I thought we could just take any angles that were good and nice. First assignment was to take 6 photos with people inside and tell a story about them. These are my 6 photos and the story is "In My House at Midnight"
Lesson 2: Now, this lesson is about drawing panels of a storyline. The story that I need to work on is about a robot that is being followed by a mysterious dark figure, that eventually pushes it off a glass windowed elevator or off a balcony, and the rest is up to me to complete the story. This was a fun experience since it is my first time drawing a webtoon like story plot and also continuing a story that uses our own imagination. This 2nd assignment is very creative and it helps me to think of ending quickly. This allows me to work my brain into thinking and really show my creativity and art.
