Moving Illustration in Context

Moving Illustration in Context

I wanted to have a little plot twist at the end since I love making endings which are questionable and interesting to my viewers. So, for the story instead of making the mysterious dark figure a person, I created a monster that tries to take over the robots body. There is no fight scene since I am not good at perspective but I tried when the robot was falling down from the elevator. At the end, the robot hits the ground hard creating sparks around it and making it vulnerable to the dark monster. The monster enters the robot and creates a face that leaks out its gooey liquid that the monster has on its body.

Lesson 3: I am finally learning how to animate! First off I am starting with how to animate from slow to fast by animating a rolling ball. Mr Roi showed us an example with a video and I had to draw 25 frames. The rolling ball was pretty easy to animate and I loved it. This is my finished product frame by frame: This has a total of 24 frames.

Drawing this small stop motion animation for the rolling ball actually takes time, effort and patience. At one point when I was drawing this, I gave up half way and went to rest. After a long while later I realised I can actually finish it, since if most of the class are able to do it, I should too. This is an eyeopening experience for me since it actually shows me that animation really takes time and if I am up for this challenge for the next 3 more years. Lesson 4: This lesson made me so tired and hungry. BOUNCING BALL!! Bouncing ball was really fun to see when Mr Roi showed us a clip on the past works, but when I got to do it, it was pure hell. Because the ball is not rock hard, there needs to be an action to show that the ball bounces and how hard the ball is. If the ball is flatten down the most when is bounces, the ball is soft, if it does not flatten down as much, the ball is harder. But I must not forget the fact that the harder the ball, the more bounces it has.

The entire process, was tiresome, but it was worth the try and these are my frames. Tiring as it seems but I did it and it was fun. I managed to complete it within the 3 hours of the class and even record it. This took much more longer than the rolling ball, but since me and my friends were suffering from the same thing, I had to press on to complete it since I do not want to bring home extra work. Lesson 5 and 6: For the next 2 lessons, are the lessons before the assessment week. I took the chance to revamp my animations and add in more details. For my rolling ball animation, I drew a capybara sliding while turning. As for the bouncing ball animation, I drew a person playing basketball, from his point of view when he threw the ball, and then changes to a side view of the ball bouncing. a total of 41 frames

Here are some of the frames I did for my final rolling ball and bouncing ball: The capybara is my favourite animal that is why I used it for my rolling ball animation.

This is my bouncing ball animation:

My final animation for bouncing ball.

For Understanding motion: I learnt how to use Adobe Premiere Pro. It was a fun experience on how to use it and it was also pretty hard. In general, Mr Roi was very nice in teaching us and giving us feedbacks on how to better improve my animatic and how I should do each part of my animatic to save time for other modules. Not only that the help from my other classmates helped me push through and I managed to finish my animatic on time. though there were some areas i needed to add for my animatic, I still completed it. Time was tight but it was worthwhile and it everything went well.

some keyframes i took how to zoom in while moving increasing and decreasing size while moving spinning while moving from left to right

I had to do a small mini clip to further understand how to use premiere pro. it was abit wonky at first but i managed to pull through and finish it

these are just some of the layering i had to draw to make my animatic. Mr Roi also said that to move different objects or area, i have to colour them in a different layer and export them individually. this actually took up a lot of my time as i had many movements for each layer and panel.

Reflections: this whole entire module was fine. To my expectations, it surpassed it as i did not expect that i would be doing so much. it honestly made me realise that my time mnagement is very crucial in the next half of the semester and without good time management i would not be able to finish my animatic on time. In my honest opinion and feelings, this was not what i expected at all and this was very heavy. even though i had the help of many friends from different classes, i felt that it was not what i sign up for and the amount of workload was too much for me to handle. but i came into the course ready to tackle everything, so i am actually greatful at least i learnt something valuable that can help me when i start working or if i become a freelance worker.
