The 2020 season kick started with the Alfred
Dunhill Championship and Pablo Larrazabal
was first off the mark to claim the first title of
the season. This leaves him top of the table with
Rasmus Hojgaard in second, Joel Sjoholm, third,
Renato Paratore, fourth and Antoine Rozner, fifth.

Hojgaard picked up the title at the second
tournament of the season, the AfrAsia Bank
Mauritius Open, and added that to his 49th place
finish at the Alfred Dunhill.

Sjoholm was second at the Alfred Dunhill and
26th in Mauritius, Paratore was 19th and second
respectively and Rozner started his season with a
36th place finish and bounced back with a second
place finish at the same events.

ORDER OF MERIT

Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond was declared the 2019
Asian Tour Order of Merit champion after his lead on the
Habitat for Humanity Standings became unassailable, with
three tournaments left to play on the schedule.

With Scott Hend opting not to tee up at the AfrAsia Bank
Mauritius Open, Jazz secured the prime position atop the
money list, and could not be caught by his closest challenger.

He racked up three wins in total, the SMBC Singapore
Open, Kolon Korea Open, and the BNI Indonesian Masters,
along with seven Top-10s. This enabled him to become
the fourth Thai, after Thongchai Jaidee (2001, 2004,
2009), Thaworn Wiratchant (2005, 2012) and Kiradech
Aphibarnrat (2013), to be crowned Asia’s number one.

Hend finished the season second, with a victory at the
Maybank Championship, while Lee Tae-Hee ranks third,
with his sole victory at the GS Caltex Maekyung Open.
Masahiro Kawamura ranks fourth and Jbe Kruger rounds
out the Top-5.

There’s still the Thailand Masters to take place, but
Pavit Tangkamolprasert picked up the victory at the Sabah
Masters and ranks 16th, while Rasmus Hojgaard won the
AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

PGM Tour Order of Merit

KIM TAKES OVER AS

NUMBER ONE

The paired down Order of Merit, with the removal of players who did not
meet the minimum eight-tournament requirement, along with the completion
of the final two tournaments on the PGM Tour schedule, has resulted in a big
shuffle, with a new golfer leading the way.

Kim Leun Kwang moved to the top of the rankings as the season winds
down, overtaking Daeng Abdul Rahman and Amir Nazrin in the process.

While the PGM schedule itself has been completed with the staging of
the PGM Players’ Championship, there are still a couple of tournaments on
regional Tours, where earnings can count towards the final tally and possibly
alter the final outcome.

As things stand, Kim came through at the PGM Players’ Championship
to easily pick up the biggest winner’s cheque on offer this year, RM47,150, to
boost him past the competition and see him lead the way with RM148,943.25
in earnings.

Amir bypassed Daeng to move into second, following a fourth place finish
in the PGM Maybank ADT Championship, won by Nurin Sae-Ueng in a
playoff against Gavin Green, and a third place finish at the Players’.

Daeng was T45 at the Maybank and T15 at the Players’ to drop back a
place to now rank third in the Order of Merit.

Sukree Othman ranks fourth, after a T36 at the Maybank and solo fifth
at the Players’, while 2018 and 2019 Order of Merit winner, Shahriffuddin
Ariffin, ranks fifth after a T30 and T6 at the same tournaments.

R. Nachimuthu, S. Sivachandhran, Rizal Amin, M. Sasidaran and Khor
Kheng Hwai make up the remainder of the Top-10.

Sivachandhran made the biggest leap, from 18th to seventh, following his
runner-up finish behind Kim at the Players’.

The year belonged to Ko Jin-Young after she captured four titles,
two of them Majors, and had eight additional Top-10 finishes. She
finished the season as the No. 1 ranked golfer and captured the 2019
Official Money title with US$2,773,894, after finishing tied for 11th
at the CME Group Tour Championship and earning US$59,613.

She also won the 2019 Vare Trophy by 0.346 over Kim Hyo-Joo,
earning her a point toward entrance into the LPGA Tour Hall of
Fame. Her final scoring average of 69.052 is the second-lowest Vare
Trophy-winning average behind only Annika Sorenstam’s 68.697 in
in 2002.

Kim Sei-Young won the season-ending CME Group Tour
Championship to finish the season ranked sixth, up six places from
12th.

Behind Ko in the rankings is Park Sung-Hyun in second,
followed by Nelly Korda in third. Park withdrew from play at the
CME, while Korda finished in a tie for third.

Nasa Hataoka lost her fourth place ranking to Danielle Kang,
who moved up four places after a T3 finish at the CME, against
Nasa’s T25 placing.

Rounding out the Top-10 are Brook Henderson in seventh, Lee6
Jeong-Eun, who dropped two places to eighth, Lee Min-Jee, dropped
four places to ninth and Lexi Thompson, slipped one place to 10th.
