GK Design joined hand in hand to work with Clothes For Rent project collaboration. The project
consisted of creating a style guide that reflects and emphasizes the company’s visual identity. It is
supported by a thorough analysis of the target market and competitors. The various elements of
the brand's core identity. Provided are details of the logo, typography, color palette and imagery.

TEAM DESCRIPTION

Guoda Domilė Šukytė Prepared weekly agenda, scheduled meetings, and as well as
Project Manager liaison with the client, to guarantee the success of the
project. Composed the inspiration and products & services
description from the executive summary, along with
researcher analysis for the competitors. Also, organized the
brand's imagery.

Karla Kirtley Created and designed the layout of the style guide as well as
Creative Director assisted with technical design requirements for each
component. As it regards to design element, generated the
logo and typography, in addition to compiling research
analysis fo the brand’s target audience.

Each member of the team made an equal contribution by presenting ideas and sourcing
information. All played the role the Research Captain and Editor in Chief being the role of research.
We were also both influential in the establishment of the company’s color palette.

INSPIRATION

Rent for Clothes was created by Mathilda Dahl, a young woman in Berlin, who saw a way to bridge
the gap between fashion designers and fashion lovers, for an affordable cost. The idea of creating
a rental service came from her struggles of keeping up with the fashion trends and being able to
afford attires for occasional events.

Mathilda noticed that formal wear is a big investment and is usually a one
time wear. As such, the idea sparked by creating a solution for others who
could relate to her challenges. In doing so, she wanted to promote slow
fashion and sustainability, thus making this the core of Clothes For Rent's
business model. 

However, with the potential recognized in this market, Mathilda wanted to differentiate herself
from the other competitors. Therefore, she incorporated several components to typical clothing
rental services in order to enhance the brand's uniqueness. Clients have an opportunity to rent
clothes offline and online, this also includes delivery and pick up services. Additionally, clients can
purchase their favorable clothing items.

As a rental company, Rent The Runway provides sets of fashionable clothing items. As, Clothes For
Rent, they are using the same business model that is part of the "access economy". Rent The Runway
not only offer clothing rental services but accessories as well. Their target audience consists of only
women.

Rent for Runway logo consists of the following

SHAPE throughout the focal points of the
logo. The variation of lines includes:
horizontal, vertical and diagonal.
These lines execute the forms of

COLOR USAGE & EXAMPLE

Primary and Seasonal colors are mostly used for the framing of professional photography and
icons on the website as well as for their Instagram posts. However, they use other colors frequently
that are not part of their color palette in their branding and media content. Icons (designed with
lines and shapes) are also used to represent the different categories.

Rent the Runway uses two different fonts to emphasise hierarchy within the layout of the website.
They use the combination of Gibbs book and Nimbus Roman to create simple and elegant touch
to the typography usage. Both typography's is a mixture of San Serif.

IMAGERY

Rent the Runway Imagery is artistic and professional. They use Professional photography for their
brand demonstration. In this case the usage of darker and textured backgrounds are chosen while
creating artistic and captivating images for branding purposes. In the example, wooden
background is used.

The usage of light color background's illuminates the distraction and creates a focal point which
centers the clothing piece. These type of photos are specifically produced in portraying every visible
aspect of the clothing to present a clear attire look for the customer.

Rent the Runway Website consists of the primary colors Lacc, White and Midnight with the mix of
Seasonal color Blue-sky as an accentuated add placement. The website uses Professional
photography of individuals wearing colorful unique garments. The backgrounds of the
photographs differentiate each photo due to different colored or textured background which
emphasizes the clothing by creating the focal point and balance within the photo.

Website uses simple iconography for The typography used in the Website is
functional purposes such as link to the Gibbs book for menu bar and Nimbus
company's other media platforms. Roman for Heading and body text of the
Photos are simetrically aligned in a specific grid introduction page.

"Glam Corner is a fashion-tech company at its heart with a unique reverse logistics operation. Our
mission is to revolutionise the way fashion is consumed by providing a smarter and more sustainable
alternative that is better for our community and our environment." (Glam Corner, 2019).

The wordmark is used as the official main
logo in their branding and marketing. This
logo is minimalistic and simplistic. The logo
consists of the company’s name in the font
of Kings Caslon. Black letters in the white
background create strong contrast and
grab customers attention.

COLORS Used for Social media platform - Instagram.
This logo follows a black circle shape and
BLACK white letter G placed in the middle. The
Cmyk 0 0 0 100 contrast between these hues create
Rgb 0 0 0 emphasis and grabs one’s focus. The

symmetrical.

Logo was design keeping in mind 5 logo design principles. These being:

Simple - Consists of simples shapes (circles) and wordmark.
Memorable - The contrasting colors captures attention, along with the simplicity of the
shapes.
Timeless - Modern approach and has repeatability.
Appropriate - Translates the purpose of the company.
Versatile - Transformed for multiple uses, while still being ecstatically appealing.

MARKET COMPARISON

In comparison to the competitors who were inconsistent with the use of their typography, we
made an extra effort to pay close attention to the type and use of our chosen fonts. They both used
the combination of serif and san serif fonts, which did not translate well with the cohesiveness of the
hierarchy. To maintain balance we used the san serif fonts both for our logo and primary typeface.
The modern craft of the font easily appeals to our readers and relates to the characteristics to our
audiences.
