KATA PENGANTAR
Banci Penduduk dan Perumahan Malaysia 2010 (Banci 2010) merupakan banci kelima yang
dilaksanakan setiap 10 tahun sejak penubuhan Malaysia pada tahun 1963. Banci sebelum ini
telah dijalankan pada tahun 1970, 1980, 1991 dan 2000. Banci Perumahan 2010, 2000,
1991 dan 1980 adalah meliputi seluruh negara, manakala Banci 1970 meliputi seluruh
Semenanjung Malaysia serta beberapa buah bandar utama di Sabah dan Sarawak.
Banci 2010 membekalkan maklumat yang komprehensif tentang bilangan dan jenis tempat
kediaman serta kemudahan asas yang tersedia. Data banci memberi satu tanda aras yang
penting dalam membuat analisis aspek kuantitatif dan kualitatif keadaan perumahan di
Malaysia.
Banci merupakan satu projek yang besar melibatkan pemprosesan jumlah borang yang
banyak dan maklumat yang pelbagai, maka ia memerlukan masa yang panjang untuk
pemprosesan sebelum data dapat dikeluarkan demi menjamin kualitinya. Bagi memberi
gambaran ringkas bilangan tempat kediaman Malaysia pada tahun 2010, Jabatan
Perangkaan Malaysia telah menerbitkan Laporan Kiraan Permulaan 2010 pada Disember
2010 dan Taburan Penduduk Mengikut Kawasan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan dan Mukim
pada Disember 2011.
Data dalam penerbitan ini adalah berdasarkan kepada penjanaan data muktamad tanpa
penyesuaian kurang penghitungan. Laporan ini memuatkan data jumlah stok tempat
kediaman, jenis tempat kediaman, bahan binaan dinding luar, pemilikan dan kemudahan
asas perumahan.
Adalah diharapkan penerbitan ini dapat memenuhi keperluan perancang, pembuat dasar,
penyelidik dan juga pihak awam.

PREFACE
The 2010 Population and Housing Census of Malaysia (Census 2010) was the fifth decennial
census to be conducted since the formation of Malaysia in 1963. The previous censuses were
conducted in 1970, 1980, 1991 and 2000. The 2010, 2000, 1991 and 1980 Housing Census
covered the entire country. While the 1970 Housing Census covered the whole Peninsular
Malaysia as well as a few major towns in Sabah and Sarawak.
2010 Census provides a comprehensive set of information on the number and types of living
quarters as well as the availability of basic amenities. Data from the census provides an
important benchmark in analyzing the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the housing
situation in Malaysia.
The census being a very large project requires the processing of a voluminous number of
forms and information and therefore requires a fair amount of processing time to ensure its
quality before the data can be released. Thus, to provide a quick insight on the living
quarters of Malaysia in 2010, the Department of Statistics, Malaysia published the
Preliminary Count Report 2010 on December 2010 and Population Distribution by Local
Authority areas and Mukims on December 2011.
Data in this publication is based on the final data without adjustments for under-
enumeration. This publication provides information on total housing stock, type of living
quarters, construction material of outer walls, ownership and basic housing amenities.
It is hoped that this publication will fulfill the requirements of planners, policy makers,
researchers as well as the general public.
