The History of SK Dato Traoh Muara Tuang Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Traoh Muara Tuang, or SK Dato Traoh Muara Tuang for short, is a national school on Jalan Dato Mohd Musa, D/A Ppd Samarahan. This school, formerly known as the Experimental Primary School, was erected in 1949. Mr. Peon bin Hj. Awang Asim oversaw the construction of this school, which was built by the local community. This school's initial location was near the British Colonial Office which is currently the Samarahan Division Resident Office. This school began with only 50 pupils and was directed by Encik Awang Shahdan bin Awang Yaman, who was aided by three instructors. Due to financial difficulties, this school could not continue and was forced to close. Around the 1950s, the closure of this experimental primary school provided a chance for the locals to establish a makeshift school. Encik Julai bin Jais was appointed Headmaster of the school, which had 40 students. A Committee Meeting was also conducted at the same time to arrange the establishment of a new school.
This proposal became a reality when a new school was successfully erected at the Muara Tuang market, near Sungai Samarahan, in the end of 1950. One of the locals, Tuan Hj. Ibrahim bin Hj. Ahmad, recommended naming the school Dato' Traoh School. This is owing to Dato'Traoh's early background; he is the son of one of Dato' Undi, who is recognised for his generosity and politeness, and who enjoys assisting the local community in the advancement of education. As a result, the local citizens agreed to name this school after him to honour his exemplary service and sacrifice to the community. At this stage, there are 50 pupils in total. Cikgu Mahdar bin Hussain assumed head of the institution in the 1960s.
At this period, the school's name was changed to SRK. Muara Tuang. Cikgu Sharif bin Nordin took up his position in the 1970s. Cikgu Azmi bin Mustapha then took over this school in 1980. Beginning this year, the number of pupils increased to 300. There were 15 teachers on duty at the time. Cikgu Azmi only worked at this school for two years before being replaced by Cikgu Ali bin Kabir, who only worked there for one year. Cikgu Dahlan bin Mursalin was named Head Teacher in 1983, succeeding Cikgu Ali bin Kabir. His tenure at this institution was likewise brief, lasting only one year.
Following that, Cikgu Deris bin Rambli, who worked at this institution from 1984 to 1986, took over as principal. Cikgu Saji bin Ahim took his position after that, serving at the school until the middle of 1994. When he took over as principal, he renamed the school "SRK. Dato' Traoh, Muara Tuang, " because many people were puzzled by the acronym SRK. Muara Tuang Road. Cikgu Awg. Fadzellah Hj. Awg. Matusin, previous Lundu District Education Officer, took his post on June 16, 1994. Till now, SK Dato Traoh has been regarded as one of the best schools in Sarawak due to its successes in a variety of areas such as academics, curriculum, and attitude. Poem
