Our unmatched experience, expertise and insider knowledge means that your clients will have the most authentic Alaska ... and, there are three ways to explore the Great Land with Holland America Line.
1) We offer the ultimate Alaska Cruise Experience: The best of Alaska’s glaciers and ports, on seven elegant, premium ships sailing there in the summer, including our stunning Signature-class Koningsdam, which sails from Vancouver every Saturday from May until September.

The Voice of Travel in Scotland
Spring is in the Air
Well, can you believe we are 3 months into this year already? How time flies when you’re confronted with not
one, not two, not even three crises...
I think I have forgotten how many challenges we have been faced with so far this year - storms, sand clouds, Brexit and the biggest of all, of course, Coronavirus.
It really is a nightmare for us all, as these days people are able to access all types of news or hype, 24/7 and we have to deal with the hysteria that follows. Yes, Coronavirus is a worry but not to the extent some people have made it. Why are people cancelling holidays? We need to ensure our staff are amending and changing holidays rather than cancelling.
Join us for the
We as a travel industry need to stand united giving out the right messages to our clients. The only epidemic we have is hysteria, so stay positive and don’t let clients cancel. The great start to the beginning of the year we all had will come back if we keep a can-do attitude.
It was great to see so many people at the SPAA 90th Dinner. A good night was had by all and I personally enjoyed the event, after the addressing of
the haggis! I can now relax until next year’s Dinner.
The SPAA is not just about events. A lot of work in the background goes into political lobbying, supporting Associate members and being a sounding board for a huge variety of subjects. We are working with Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports around connectivity and as I mentioned in my speech at the Dinner, we need to help with the rail link into Glasgow and also the road links into Edinburgh.
I am conscious that I have not had sufficient time as the President to potentially touch base with members. I am really keen to find out if agents feel the SPAA could do more for them. With this in mind, we will host two dinners this year purely for agents - one in Glasgow and one in Edinburgh. At the dinners there will be a chance to discuss the issues we are all facing
and hopefully, collectively help each other. It’s great to have Barrhead, Hays and TUI shops as members now and this really strengthens our voice in Scotland from an agent’s point of view.
Our partnership with Planeterra is something new to us and we are about to start fundraising for our project in Dubrovnik, kicking off with a sponsored walk in conjunction with World Oceans Day on 8th June.
We are proposing to get as many travel people to do a beach walk on Sunday 7th June, which will be a great opportunity to get our families and friends together. In the week leading up to this, we are hoping to see as many businesses getting involved in some fundraising events – perhaps, in their workplace, like a coffee morning etc. We will be publishing the events on all SPAA platforms, so get your thinking caps on as to how to raise some funds!
In the meantime, if anyone wishes to raise anything, please feel free to email me on [email protected]
Have a great Easter and enjoy some time with family and friends.

An Expert City Break Guide
Boasting a rich history, world famous sights and attractions, amazing shopping, a huge choice of places to eat and an atmosphere that is second to none, Turkey’s economic, cultural and historical centre is one of the world’s most unique city breaks.
Despite being Europe’s largest city
and one of the world’s most populous, Istanbul’s main attractions are all contained within the centre so travellers don’t need to venture far to see all the major attractions. They even get to take in two continents in one city – straddling the Bosphorus Straits, Istanbul sits in both Europe and Asia!
TOP TIPS
• Take to the waterways: As the only sea route between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, the Bosphorus
is one of the busiest waterways in the world. While the large Istanbul ferries that cross the river are very cheap, there are many other ways to experience the Turkish Straits. Advise your clients to take a Bosphorus cruise so they can see the city from
a unique perspective – great by day or night.
• Go under as well as over: The Galata Bridge spans the famous Golden Horn of Istanbul and is a popular sunset walk to see the city at its prettiest. After capturing the setting sun from one of the most photographed spots in the city, travellers in the know
will head underneath the bridge.
Here you’ll find a huge choice of restaurants, bars and cafes serving food all day and night – perfect for sitting back, relaxing and taking in the hustle and bustle of the city.
• Soak it all up: For a truly authentic experience like no other, a Turkish bath (hamam) in one of the many public baths will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
• Advice: In order to prevent communi- cation issues, it is advisable to ask the hotel to give a Turkish translation of the destination and address, especially if your clients are going somewhere specific and also for the hotel location on return too.
PLACES TO VISIT
• The Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. It boasts over 4,000 shops across 61 streets, attracting between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily (closed Sunday). While it’s a must-see spot in Istanbul, it can be easy to get lost when inside, so advise clients to remember the name of the entrance they came through as this will help them get back out!
Fun fact... In 2012, the famous rooftop motorcycle chase scene in the James Bond movie Skyfall was filmed in the Grand Bazaar!
• The Hagia Sophia (it means Holy Wisdom) is a great architectural
feat with an incredible history. Completed in 537 AD, it was originally a Greek Orthodox cathedral, then later became a mosque and is now a museum that draws visitors from all over the world.
• The Blue Mosque was built beside the Hagia Sophia and is one of the world’s most famous buildings and religious sites. Constructed between 1609 and 1616, it features six minarets and a visit to see it should form a part of any trip to Istanbul. While visitors are very welcome, it is closed to non- worshipers for around half an hour during the five daily prayers.
There is a famous Turkish proverb that says - ‘Every guest is a gift from God’ – this is brought to life in Istanbul through the unique hospitality, atmosphere and world class travel experience on offer.
Turkish Airlines flies directly
to Istanbul with daily flights from Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Dublin.
Passengers not only enjoy excellent inflight services and amenities but also a generous baggage allowance in both Business and Economy class. Turkish Airlines currently flies to 319 destinations in 127 countries.

AEGEAN UNVEILS NEW ‘NEO’ ERA
2020 marks a significant step forward for AEGEAN, with
the launch of a new fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft and a rebrand.
To celebrate, a launch event was held to unveil the new livery and branding and showcase the delivery of the
first three next generation Airbus A320neo, which are equipped with Pratt & Whitney engines – the latest
in cutting-edge aviation technology. In attendance were the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as AEGEAN Chairman Eftychios Vassilakis and CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis.
AEGEAN has already expanded the initial order to a further 12 aircraft, with a total of 46 planned by 2025 and the option to add 12 extra aircraft – making
it the largest private investment in Greece. This will take the entire fleet
to 65 aircraft, which will see the introduction of 1.5 million seats and allow the airline to expand the AEGEAN network throughout 44 countries and 155 destinations in 2020.
The ‘neo’ event was also an important moment for AEGEAN to reinforce
its position on sustainability and protecting the environment. With each aircraft consuming 15-20% less fuel, this translates into an impressive 19- 23% reduction in CO2 per seat. This will also see 50% less NOx and a reduction in the noise footprint - resulting in an additional 2 hours of flight time and improved aircraft range from 600 to 1500km, extending AEGEAN’s global reach even further.
Improvements in sustainability will also be visible throughout the cabin. With
a re-imagined seating configuration, the new, lightweight seats combine ergonomics with extra comfort and modern aesthetics. These will also have reusable or fully recycled service kits, to minimise disposable plastics.
From everyone at AEGEAN, we look forward to welcoming you on board our ‘neo’ era in air travel.

Best airports in the UK
Glasgow Airport has been named the best airport in the UK, followed by London Heathrow and George Best Belfast City Airport, according to The Points Guy UK (TPG UK) in its inaugural annual report.
TPG UK undertook an extensive review of the largest 20 airports across the UK and gave each a score out of 100, rating three criteria; amenities, commute and on-time flights. Nicky Kelvin, Director of Content at The Points Guy UK commented: “With a solid score across both commute
and on-time categories, Glasgow Airport comes out as our champion. Heathrow, taking silver, was head and shoulders above the rest when it came to amenities, with the plethora of lounges, spas and restaurants – but this wasn’t enough to carry their particularly low commute score.”
TPG UK says a special mention must go to George Best Belfast City Airport, which came out on top in two categories - commute and on-time flight performance.
Loganair flights take off
Loganair services between Cardiff and Glasgow took off on 27th February, the first air connection between the two cities since October 2019.
The year-round service, on board Loganair’s 49-seat Embraer 145 jet aircraft, has a flight time of one hour and 15 minutes and operates up to eight times a week.
Loganair’s new flight to Haugesund has also commenced from Aberdeen International Airport. Operating year-round, four times a week on a Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Haugesund is the fourth route to Norway from Aberdeen including Oslo, Stavanger and Bergen.
Tourism roadshows encourage industry participation

Tourism NI Chief Executive John McGrillen said: “As our new brand starts to roll out across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and in our international markets, we have been delighted at the warm response here at home.
“We have developed a unique and special platform that can be used by everyone across the industry who offers a quality experience to visitors, from guided tours to major attractions.
“The brand communicates the essence of what it is to experience Northern Ireland’s rich heritage and culture and to experience the warm welcome that is offered to our visitors across the country.”
The roadshows highlighted how to get involved through
the use of brand materials, business audits, Tourism NI’s enterprise development programme as well as participation in trade shows, campaigns, media visits and digital promotions.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines
helps fund relief efforts
Guests, staff and crew aboard Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ ship Boudicca and at its Head Office in Ipswich, have raised £5,000 to help fund relief efforts in Kangaroo Island.
Guests and crew united in a joint mission to raise funds to support the relief effort and organised a fundraising event on deck with a number of stalls and games and a live performance by the Boudicca Orchestra. In addition, a silent auction was held offering guests the chance to
bid for a navigational chart of Australia, signed by the Senior Bridge Officers, with the whole event raising over £3,500.
At the head office, employees from Fred. Olsen Ltd and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines held a dress down day, bake sale and a raffle, taking the total raised to £5,000. The funds will be split equally between the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, which has taken in hundreds of injured koalas and native wildlife whose habitat has been destroyed by fire and the South Australian Bushfire Appeal, which is supporting communities directly affected by the fires in Southern Australia and Kangaroo Island.
A&K pledges
support for Australia
Following the devastating bushfires in Australia, Abercrombie & Kent has pledged $100,000 AUD to support relief efforts in the country, en- compassed from its offices around the world and its philanthropic arm, Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP). The funds are being used
to support Australian charities leading the humanitarian and wildlife relief efforts, including the Red Cross and RSPCA.
In addition, A&K’s Australian based staff are being encouraged to use volunteer Community Service days to provide support where possible. However, at almost 3 million square miles, Australia is roughly the size of the U.S. mainland, which means a huge section of the country has not
been impacted and most tourism businesses are still open. Areas that have not been affected by fires include Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and Whitsundays, the Hunter Valley and North Coast of New South Wales, Victoria’s Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island and Western Australia’s Coral Coast.
Abercrombie & Kent offers tailor-made holidays to Australia which can include exclusive behind- the-scenes access to Sydney Opera House,
a helicopter tour around the Hunter Valley’s vineyards or a sheep-shearing lesson on a family ranch.
For clients who want to experience Classic Australia, the operator offers a variety of options including a cruise around Sydney’s harbour,
dining in the desert under the stars, gazing at Uluru (Ayers Rock), before rising early to watch the sunrise over this remarkable landscape; going walkabout in a UNESCO World Heritage rainforest with a local bushman guide; sailing and snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef and exploring Melbourne.

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
New campaign rolled out
Tourism Australia has launched the first phase of its new international recovery campaign, ‘There’s Still Nothing Like Australia’.
Sapphire Princess to sail ‘down under’
Princess Cruises has announced plans to increase by six months the Australia and New Zealand season of the 2,670-guest Sapphire Princess.
The ship will now arrive in Australia on 1st May, 2020 and sail down under for 12 months.
This adds a total of 47 new cruises from five major Australian cities to the season. The ship was previously scheduled to sail in Asia from May-October.
Sapphire Princess will arrive into Perth (Fremantle) following a multi-million dollar refurbishment.
The new campaign, which is based on the country’s long- standing and successful global campaign - ‘There’s Nothing Like Australia’, is supported with the $25 million allocated to Tourism Australia through the Australian Government’s National Bushfire Recovery Fund and aims to stimulate demand in the short-term and gradually rebuild Australia’s reputation as a desirable destination.
Since the launch of 'There’s Nothing Like Australia' in 2010, international tourism spend has grown by more than $19 billion.

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
&
Travel Matters speaks to
Gary Kershaw
Country Manager UK & Ireland, Qatar Airways
Tell us about your market ex-UK via Doha to Australia and New Zealand?
Our Australia and New Zealand routes (Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Auckland) remain extremely popular. Last year we celebrated ten years of Qatar Airways flying to Australia, during which we’ve carried over 5.2 million passengers between the Antipodes and Doha.
Our award-winning hub, Hamad International Airport, makes onward connections smooth and seamless, so it’s a convenient option for those wishing to travel the 20 hours plus journey from the UK to that part of the world.
How many flights do you operate?
We currently operate a daily flight from Edinburgh to Doha (which increased to double-daily on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the busy summer season last year), connecting passengers with over 170 destinations across our network.
What would you say are the major USPs of flying Qatar?
We’re very proud to be the only airline to have been awarded ‘Airline of the Year’ by the prestigious Skytrax five times, while our business class product (Qsuite) is consistently ranked as one
of the best, if not the best, in the world. Aside from that, Qatar Airways operates one of the youngest fleets
in the world, meaning our passengers experience a journey that’s quieter, more fuel efficient and altogether
more comfortable.
Given you are about to go double daily from EDI – does this open up a lot more connecting opportunities?
Absolutely – from Doha passengers can connect to over 170 destinations. Being one of the fastest growing airlines, we’re constantly adding to our network. For example, this year we’re launching Osaka, Japan and Cebu in the Philippines.
What has Doha got to offer the traveller as a stop off on the way to Australia and New Zealand?
Doha offers a unique opportunity
to experience authentic Arabic hospitality; from the sensory delights of Souk Waqif to its world-class culinary scene.
Even if you only have two or three days, there’s plenty to explore. I always recommend a visit to the National Museum of Qatar, which opened last year. The building has been built in the image of a desert rose so it is a real sight to behold.
Doha is also increasing its status as a host for major sporting events.
The Qatar Total Open Tennis Tournament is currently taking place in the Qatari capital, while next
month the city will welcome the inaugural Qatar Airways International Tournament and then later in the year, the FIFA Club World Cup for the second successive year.
You are scheduling the A350 from EDI – why is this such a great aircraft for agents to sell?
The A350 truly makes travelling a joy. Passengers will appreciate that it’s more spacious than most aircraft, plus its seats have been designed ergonomically for maximum comfort, including in economy.
But the real magic is in the innovations less immediately obvious to travellers - such as the ambient LED mood lighting which changes depending on the time of day.
The fuselage is also made from carbon fibre which lowers the cabin pressure, while the air filtering system works to refresh the air every two minutes.
All these little technologies mean that passengers arrive at their destination feeling refreshed – which we all appreciate when traversing multiple time zones!

NEW AREA MANAGER FOR AIR NEW ZEALAND
Air New Zealand has appointed Jorge Flores-Garcia as Area Manager UK & Europe, commencing April 2020.
Flores-Garcia, who has been with the airline since 2015 and is currently Manager Sales UK & Europe, will succeed Jo Copestake, General Manager UK and Europe, who will move to New Zealand to become Regional General Manager NZ Distribution & Corporate.
This winter, Air New Zealand will be closing its London route to concentrate on their gateway strategy. Flores-Garcia comments: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role of Area Manager UK and Europe at Air New Zealand and very excited to be leading a team of hugely talented individuals in a significant sales region.
“Our focus will be on driving the gateway strategy alongside our partner airlines to continue to drive traffic to New Zealand. With 14 gateways – via the east and west – we offer more ways to New Zealand than ever before.”
From October, passengers will be able to fly to New Zealand via Asia or the Americas on a partner airline, before connecting onto an Air New Zealand service into Auckland.
TIAKI CARE FOR NEW ZEALAND
On a recent trip to New Zealand, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall were given an insight into the environmental awareness and diversity that the country has to offer.
As well as attending official engagements, the couple experienced elements of New Zealand’s Tiaki Care for
New Zealand campaign - a tourism industry initiative that encourages visitors and New Zealanders to act as guardians of Aotearoa – its people, culture and natural environment. Now in its second year, the campaign focuses on protecting nature, keeping New Zealand clean, driving carefully, being prepared and showing respect.
Kicking off in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, the royals were given an insight into how New Zealand is tackling the war against plastics. New Zealand has 15,000 kilometres of coastline, the ninth longest in the world and Prince Charles took a boat ride with Sea Cleaners, a voluntary organisation working to preserve New Zealand’s marine environment and educate people on eco-friendly rubbish disposal.
The Prince also visited Critical Design, a social enterprise focused on achieving environmental sustainability by using technology to create new products out of recyclable materials including plastic pipes, fishing nets and car bumpers.
Sustainability and innovation were also at the forefront during a tour of Auckland’s waterfront where urban redevelopment is underway as the city prepares to host the next America’s Cup regatta in 2021.
Prince Charles also visited the small seaside town of Kaikōura, on the north east coast of the South Island, famed for whale watching. Kaikōura is one of New Zealand’s top nature tourism destinations and welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year for whale-watching and adventures

Travel 2 & Princess Cruises Fam trip To Australia
FAM TRIP REVIEW
by GILLIAN STEWART, Hays Travel, Dundee
GETTING THERE
We departed Heathrow on board Qantas, with a touchdown in Singapore. Flying in economy, seats were spacious and the in-flight entertainment system offered plenty of choice. The crew were amazing and they even gave us a tour of the aircraft.
We did have a delay from Singapore
to Sydney - however, Qantas were amazing and provided overnight ac- commodation - with the added bonus that we got to explore Singapore! I would definitely recommend a 2-night stopover here for clients.
HIGHLIGHTS
Once we arrived in Sydney, we were whisked away to the Shangri La Hotel for breakfast on the 36th Floor - with amazing panoramic views of The Harbour and the Opera House - this should be on everyone’s list of things to do!
The 4-star Chateau Elan Hunter Valley Resort was stunning; touring the variety of wineries from Leogate to Tulloch’s; the 3am early start for a magical hot air balloon ride over Hunter Valley.... wow!
ON BOARD PRINCESS CRUISES’ MAJESTIC PRINCESS
Then we were off for 10-nights on board Majestic Princess. The majority of cabins feature a balcony, making it feel more spacious and a great place to relax.
Movies under the Stars - there is
a massive outdoor movie screen located on the pool deck where
you can get comfortable on a sun lounger with a fleece blanket and enjoy complimentary freshly-popped popcorn. During days at sea, they show live concerts. There are two pools - the Hollywood Pool Club, an under-cover adults’ only pool with cabanas overlooking the ocean and the main pool on the upper deck of the ship, with plenty of sun loungers.
The Atrium is made of beautiful gold coloured marble, magnificent floating staircases and a stained glass dome. You can enjoy a coffee from the International Café while watching musicians, acrobats and jugglers performing there.
There are many dining options to choose from including the World Fresh Marketplace buffet with a huge
y
ATTRACTIONS ON THE QUEENSLAND COAST CRUISE
Brisbane - The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary - fabulous experience visiting rescued Koalas and having the chance to hold them; getting up close and personal with Kangaroos.
Airlie Beach; Yorkeys Knob; Kuranda Sky Rail; Port Douglas and Quicksilver - all great places to visit.
The Great Barrier Reef was everyone’s favourite day. We were able to snorkel, scuba dive, get on board a submarine and could even take a helicopter ride over the reef.
Overall this was a fantastic first cruise for me and anyone who wants to go to Australia. For me, Travel 2 & Princess Cruises definitely go out of their way to provide you and your clients with the most amazing experiences.

NEW RIVER CRUISE SHIP FOR TITAN
It’s a time of celebration
at Titan Travel HQ. Why? Following another successful year of river cruising across some of Europe’s most stunning waterways, Titan is thrilled to be adding a new ship to their exclusive collection.
From June 2021, the MS River Discovery II will be sailing the mighty Danube and providing passengers with a luxurious experience that encompasses a relaxed, slower pace of travel.
Head of Trade Sales, Edwina Coppock says: “I really can’t wait to see the MS River Discovery II with my own eyes. I’m most excited about seeing the outdoor seating areas, as I can just imagine how comfortable they will be sailing along with a glass of wine in the evening sun before sitting down to a delicious four-course evening meal.”
She adds: “I love river cruising as it
is such a relaxing way to travel. The benefit of a river cruise is you can enjoy a multi-centre holiday but without the hassle of changing rooms and having to unpack again. And because our ships only sail with a small number of passengers, it’s easy to get to know fellow travellers quickly and make new friends.”
Key features of the MS River Discovery II include the bright and spacious cabins from palatial deluxe suites on the upper deck, to standard single cabins on the lower deck. Guests in the superior and deluxe cabins can gaze at the passing scenery from their private French balcony, while those in the upper deck cabins have their own separate sitting areas.
However, it’s the elegant communal areas onboard the MS River Discovery II that will really impress. From a large outdoor sundeck with plush seating to watch the world go by, to two stylish lounges, where sundowners can be enjoyed. In the Captain’s Club on the upper deck, the retractable roof also slides back, giving passengers a scenic alfresco experience.
While the MS River Discovery II is a new offering from Titan, the MS Serenade 1 is Titan’s original river cruise ship
and she’s recently been refurbished with updated interiors and chic furnishings. Exclusive to Titan, every aspect from the excursions, food and entertainment are tailored to the needs of Titan guests – and the ship will be continuing to welcome passengers onboard to destinations throughout Europe.
While it may seem too soon to mention Christmas, Titan’s festive river cruises to The Rhine are already proving popular, with sailings offering the opportunity for passengers to indulge in seasonal local treats and soak in the atmosphere of Christmas markets.
As always, Titan river cruises come with a VIP door-door-service, tour managers, free-flowing wine, beer and soft drinks at meal times and complimentary tea and coffee.

Solar energy is used to help power the ship’s operating systems whilst its innovative and high-spec power plant enables a top speed of 11 knots. In addition every effort has been made to eliminate
plastic from the ship including complimentary reusable bottles throughout.”
State-of-the-art features include Victoria Mekong’s signature infinity pool and pool bar, contemporary Asia- themed bar and lounge with luxurious soft furnishings plus signature restau- rant with a locally-inspired menu that showcases native cuisine from the region.
Wendy Wu Tours offers six unique itineraries which, for the first time, will sail from the much quieter port at Can Tho Pier to Phnom Penh and return. This route also allows Victoria Mekong to explore the off the beaten track areas and to experience more unique offshore excursions along the Mekong Delta.
The new tours include the 14-day
‘A Mekong Experience’, which includes a sunset cruise on the moat of Angkor Thom plus a cyclo tour of Phnom Penh; the 17-day ‘Classic Mekong’ which includes Tai Chi lessons on Halong
Bay as well as an opportunity to learn ancient farming techniques in Hoi An.
Two longer group tours have been added including the 22-day ‘Mekong Explorer’ and 23-day ‘Inspiring Indochina’, both of which include a cyclo tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter and a night at Cambodia’s famous Phare Circus.
Two new private tours include the 12- day ‘Mekong Impressions’ and 19-day ‘Mekong Discovery’.

KERRY ANNE NAUGHTON
GLOBAL PURPOSE SPECIALIST, REGIONAL SALES MANAGER SCOTLAND, G ADVENTURES
The main part of my role at G Adventures is to build meaningful connections with our agent friends and help
grow and develop their business
with the company. Once I’ve built
that connection, it then allows me to educate them on the G Adventures product and culture. I really love this part of the job as there are still so many misconceptions around small group and adventure travel to be overcome. It’s so interesting to see how an agent’s mindset towards this style of travel changes after they have had time to learn about what we do at G Adventures and more importantly, why we do it.
The most common thing I hear after a training session is - “I can’t wait
to pick one for myself” and “what sort of discount do you offer to agents?”. It’s a real compliment to know that our agents want to travel with G Adventures when they fully understand what the product has to offer. I always tell them that we offer our agent friends some fantastic discounted rates!
I absolutely love the G Adventures’ product and the company culture. Everything we do is driven by a ‘Happiness Business Model’, which recognises that employees do their best work when they have the freedom to be innovative and the confidence to be themselves. Their social enterprise approach is an amazing way to change not just travellers’ lives, but the lives of local people as well, just by going on a great holiday.
The GPS team is here to offer our agents support throughout all aspects of the business process, from training and understanding the touring and adventure sector, right through to in- store events with their customers. Our training includes both one-to-one and group training sessions and can cover specific destinations, online systems or travel styles.
Marketing and communication is
a big opportunity for agents and
G Adventures are here to support our agents 100% of the way. We are able
to provide window displays, marketing spend, collateral to help drive new business and the support of our communications and PR team. Shows and events and incentives such as our global Change Makers Challenge are all activities I can help support as well.
One of the most successful activities that I have done with some of our new agency partners is an all-day training session, that we call “Special Agent G”. It’s a one-day intensive training
programme, away from their store, covering all aspects of G Adventures. It includes classroom-based activity as well as an interactive outdoor and group activity where we create an authentic G Adventures experience.
Special Agent G allows us to have
‘G Ambassadors’ within our agency partner pool, who are committed
to growing their own sales, but also helping to grow the wider store sales by educating their colleagues on everything G.
I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many places with G Adventures but Peru will always hold a special place in my heart as it’s full of history and culture.
Peru has everything from the cities and mountains to lakes and jungles and the food is one of the best in the world.
I’ve been to this amazing country twice and the people are always so friendly and welcoming. I have also met many amazing locals at three of the Planeterra projects G Adventures supports.
I always recommend Peru to agents because the traditional culture is still so prevalent in the day to day life of locals. When you take the time to talk to the them, you really do get a real taste of authentic Peru and its fascinating history.
