AER LINGUS REGIONAL ANNOUNCES FLIGHTS TO NEWQUAY AND JERSEY FROM BELFAST CITY AIRPORT
Aer Lingus Regional, exclusively operated by Emerald Airlines, has announced two new routes from Belfast City Airport to Newquay and Jersey.
Belfast City Airport will become the only airport in Northern Ireland to offer a direct route to Newquay Cornwall Airport with flights available on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays commencing on 3rd April 2023.
Flights to Jersey will take off up to twice a week on 6th May 2023.
Ellie McGimpsey, Aviation Development Manager at Belfast City Airport, said: “Since its return to Northern Ireland earlier this year, Aer Lingus Regional has shown steadfast commitment to Belfast City Airport, creating a new base from which passengers can avail of a range
of routes.
“The announcement of two news routes to Newquay and Jersey further strengthens our partnership and is great news for passengers that wish to travel to must-see destinations across the UK.”
Operated by Emerald Airlines, the two new routes
build on Aer Lingus Regional’s existing portfolio from Belfast City Airport with flights already in operation to Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Southampton.
EDINBURGH AIRPORT LAUNCHES ONLINE TRADE PORTAL
Edinburgh Airport has launched a new online resource for the travel trade.
The Travel Portal features information on everything from downloadable destination maps and up-to-date airline contacts to parking discounts.
The interactive resource will be constantly updated meaning the trade will be able to provide passengers with accurate information on airlines and destinations – and all available at the click of a button.
Visitors to the portal will also find information on all the retail options at the airport and the different transport options providing travel to and from the terminal. There is also a section on ‘Greater Good’, the airport’s sustainability strategy. The portal is now live and all the travel trade can access it now on desktop or mobile devices.
Kirstin Ross, Senior Marketing Executive at Edinburgh Airport, said: “We’ve worked to create a tool which allows the trade easy access to accurate, up-to-date information about the airport and the destinations we fly to and we’re sure the trade will find this useful when communicating to passengers.
“The portal will be constantly updated with new information and further improvements are planned for 2023 – so watch this space!”
Agents can access the Travel Portal at

British Airways Cityflyer’s new winter service to London City has started from Aberdeen International Airport. Flights will operate until Sunday 22nd January, 2023 on the Embraer E190 aircraft.
MY DOCTOR SAYS I NEED GLASSES
8
NOVEMBER 2022
Hello and welcome everyone to my latest update on our SPAA.
This month it’s a tale of two issues - one positive and one negative - which are relevant and high on everyone’s agenda at the moment, I’m sure.
The first is the positive feedback and vibe received from the recent Sparkle and the main SPAA awards recently held in Edinburgh and Glasgow. It’s clear that recognition drives ambition and helps focus all of us that excellent customer service and ownership of the customer is vital and proves that those committed and engaged in the process are justly rewarded for their efforts.
No more so than the Sparkle award winners who were on the frontline and dealt admirably with all the issues that were thrust upon them and kept our mutual clients informed and safe in the knowledge that they received precise and accurate advice for their travels. This professionalism and duty of care is what keeps the ethos of a good travel agent high in the public perception and the reality that using this service brings real value to the supply chain.
Congratulations also go to the organisations and individuals who
were the winning recipients at the awards ceremony. All were thoroughly deserving and there is no greater praise than that received from your peers and fellow industry partners.
I picked up on a comment from social media by one of the recipients, Brad Smith from Virgin, which I believe sums it up nicely indeed:
“What a pleasure to be with all our friends at SPAA - Scottish Passenger Agents Association at the annual Awards 2022. It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly close all SPAA members are and of course, you all totally know how to party hard!”
Regretfully there is also a negative side to my comments this month and it’s to highlight the reverse of above and address the ongoing malaise by those organisations that believe that the service levels offered during the pandemic are still acceptable today.
THE VOICE OF TRAVEL IN SCOTLAND
Now of course there are two mitigating factors and during the pandemic of course, concessions were made. It is a fact that there are still ongoing issues with recruitment and encouraging people to adopt the travel industry as their career of choice, but these levels can’t be accepted forever, neither by the public nor by trade partners.
Proactive members and associates
are addressing this with new training capabilities, creative and enticing advertising, highlighting the benefits of a successful career and recognising the fact that salary and conditions relating to work life balance must be addressed. For those that do not, there will be an ever decreasing decline in sales and greater market share pick up for those that do.
Ultimately these are of course, commercial decisions and every organisation will make their own but I remind us all that the customer always has a choice and will vote with their feet and follow those that do recognise customer service and loyalty.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again at the next Star event on
29th November and of course, not forgetting the AGM and Christmas Lunch on 8th December.
Take care and stay safe,
Mike Tibbert SPAA President

NEWS
Where’s William?
I’ve just returned from my dream journey.
A few weeks ago I was hosting agents on a FAM trip on board Emerald Harmony on the Mekong River – our incredible Star-Ship which accommodates just 84 passengers and oozes elegance throughout. South East Asia has only started opening up again to travel after the pandemic and I was fortunate enough to experience Emerald Harmony resuming sailing on her first cruise from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City. It was so amazing to see the ship first hand and be greeted by a crew who didn’t stop smiling throughout the entire cruise. We had so many positive remarks regarding the crew and how amazing, kind and thoughtful they all were.
When you step onboard Emerald Harmony you really get a feel of space and elegance. We all instantly felt relaxed and comfortable. We were then taken to our suites. I walked into my Panorama Balcony Suite and was taken aback by the amount of space to relax in, the extremely comfortable beds and Emerald Cruises’ signature design where the window comes down to create a balcony, providing fantastic viewing opportunities.
A big highlight and selling point about Emerald Harmony
is that the ship can sail into the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, usually a long coach trip for ships who aren’t able to fit under the bridge. To be at the front watching this amazing city come closer and closer was a real treat for us all.
We also were lucky enough to visit amazing temples, including sunrise at Angkor Wat, exploring Angkor Thom where Tomb Raider was filmed and also the majestic Bayon Temple built in the 12th century with its imposing structures that left us all in awe. What made the once-in-a-lifetime
trip even more meaningful was celebrating my 13th year at Scenic and Emerald Cruises, a real milestone for a company I adore working for!
Scenic & Emerald Cruises 2023/24 river cruises are now on sale.

Hello again everyone!
Well, everything is suddenly starting to feel a little bit Christmassy, isn’t it?
But we’re not quite there yet! So I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about those last minute Christmas breaks... there is still time for your customers to squeeze in a cruise! It’s such a great way to get into the festive spirit before the big day itself.
There are chances to meander the streets of some of Europe’s most wonderful Christmas markets (we’ve got a wonderful cruise with the opportunity to visit the famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen!), while others will be looking to soak up some last-minute winter sunshine. What’s great about a pre-Christmas cruise is that the ships always look so beautiful at this time of year. They’ll be dressed to the nines and there will be plenty planned on board to help see in the festive season.
Of course, our Rosyth sailings have come to an end for this year, but we do have some great options for a pre-Christmas break departing from Liverpool, aboard our beautiful Borealis. There’s a nine-night river cities and German Christmas markets cruise setting sail on 5th December, where guests can visit the Christmas markets of Hamburg and sample wine, calvados and camembert in the beautiful French harbour town of Honfleur.
Or for those looking for a warmer adventure, Borealis will be setting sail on a Festive Spanish City Break on 14th December, combining milder temperatures with Christmas markets and the chance to visit one of the world’s largest Christmas light displays in Vigo! This break is a great blend of Christmas and culture.
Could there be a better way to get into the festive spirit?
Enjoy all of the festivities that December brings and I’ll see you all soon!
Bye for now,

KLM EARLY MORNING SERVICE RETURNS TO TEESSIDE AIRPORT
Teesside International Airport saw its KLM 6am flight start up again for the winter timetable. The route opens the door to connecting flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to as far afield as Cape Town, New York JFK and Mumbai.
The airline, which has flown out of Teesside for more than 24 years, will offer its dawn service to give people a chance to catch some winter sun with links onwards to Cancun, Barbados and Rio De Janeiro.
KLM has maintained a long-standing relationship with Teesside International Airport. Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen comments: “Our airport is going from strength to strength and has welcomed a bumper crop of new destinations this summer. KLM has been a great supporter of our airport for many years now.
“Our Amsterdam route remains a firm favourite and this early morning flight opens the door on invaluable connections across the globe.
“When you break it down - and cut out how long it takes to drag yourself to Manchester or London airports - catching a city break or some winter sun from Teesside saves you a lot of hassle. It makes perfect sense to choose us.”
‘ON THE DOORSTEP’ TRIPS FROM G ADVENTURES
G Adventures has launched ten new adventure trips across Europe and Morocco, focused on affordability and closer-to-home experiences for UK travellers.
During the pandemic, G Adventures saw its European trips rise in popularity and in the top five most booked regions by UK travellers for the first time. This trend for short-haul experiences – beyond the usual beach holiday – has held steady, with bookings continuing well into 2023.
Spanning across the adventure operator’s Classic and Active travel styles and ranging from four to thirteen days, the new trips include weekend options and adventures in destinations with good flight capacity, to help keep costs down without compromising on experience and
cultural immersion.
Seven new Morocco trips will offer affordable options to city-break seekers, hiking enthusiasts and beach lovers.

SMALL SHIP & RIVER CRUISE
Have you thought of booking yourself or your clients a luxury river cruise?
By nature, rivers flow through the heart of Europe’s best countries. What better way to explore multiple destinations in one journey than a luxury river cruise? As you sail from one destination to another, you’ll find yourself surrounded by an ever-changing postcard right outside your window.
With an average of just 130 guests, a luxury river cruise offers an entirely more relaxing and intimate experience that cannot be compared to
ocean cruising.
Why choose Uniworld?
A Uniworld river cruise is far more than a cruise; it’s a journey showcasing the very best a destination or region has to offer. Whether you are celebrating
a special occasion or simply prefer to travel the world’s rivers in unrivalled luxury, our boutique floating hotels and immersive itineraries combine for the perfect luxury getaway.
With a fleet of 18 beautifully appointed ships, each of which is designed to be a one-of-a-kind floating boutique hotel designed for the very rivers they
sail upon.
This means in Venice the ship has been inspired by the fabrics of Fortuny, or when sailing the Seine, the ship is inspired by Paris between the 1930s to 1950s – there is no better way to enjoy an authentic travel experience.
As the only river cruise line globally that owns and operates a collection of luxury hotels, Uniworld are entirely unique within the industry. We have followed in the footsteps of our
sister brand, the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, to design our ships as floating boutique hotels, sailing along the world’s most iconic waterways.
Uniworld believes to offer a true luxury service, everything you could ever need should always be included. On every European sailing, guests will enjoy a premium all-inclusive service - this includes world-class culinary experiences using only locally sourced ingredients, unlimited premium drinks including fine wines, local beers and handmade cocktails plus a choice of immersive daily excursions, with some itineraries offering over five choices
a day on how to explore your chosen destination.
No matter how or where you travel in the world, the one thing you always look back on is the level of service you receive.
Our family of staff are known through- out the industry for providing a true level of luxury service to every guest, they’re part of the reason we are proudly rated as a Platinum Service Provider by Feefo, an independent customer review site known globally
– if you want to read our 12,000+ reviews, please visit Uniworld.com
Where does Uniworld sail?
Throughout Europe, you will find our ships sailing along the main iconic rivers, including the Danube, Rhine, Main, Moselle, Seine, Garonne, Douro and more.
Our fleet may not be the biggest, however, our goal is to provide the most luxurious ship on every river
we sail. It’s this attention to detail that has led to Uniworld being ranked the world’s best river cruise line on multiple occasions.

THE JOY OF THE JOURNEY
At Fred. Olsen we believe the purpose of a cruise is to experience the wonders of the world, by always looking out, not facing in. Seeing the world from the water is the best way to fully appreciate it and the observation lounges on our ships are designed especially as places to sit, watch the world go by, and enjoy the wonderful views.
Our small team of Journey Planners ensure our guests can always experience the joy of the journey itself as well as the destination.

Our five new Signature Experiences
We have designed five new signature experiences which your guests will find on every sailing. Each has been created to ensure those who love to travel get the most out of their journey and the destinations on their cruise.
ITINERARY INSIGHTS
On our Itinerary Insights programme, our friendly speakers will give guests a deeper understanding of the history and culture of the places they are visiting.
SCENIC DISCOVERIES
Rather than sailing the fastest routes, we prefer to sail the most fascinating way. That’s why we plan Scenic Discoveries into our cruises. They are designed to take in all the islands, ports, waterways, locks and lakes, fjords and interesting seascapes that are out there.
TREATS OF THE REGION
Our guests can come and enjoy our Treats of the Region sessions where they can meet our chefs who will show them how to prepare local dishes from the destinations we are visiting.
THE SKY AT SEA
Our Sky at Sea experience is held on our wide open decks where we host sunrise, sunset and star-gazing events. On special itineraries we seek out the natural beauty of the Northern Lights, Midnight Sun and Solar Eclipse.
THE SHIP AND THE SEA
Our Ship and the Sea Signature Experience reflects that maritime is in our DNA at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. Guests can join us for our ‘audience with’ interviews with key members of our crew, and find out what it takes to sail a cruise ship.

OCEAN CRUISERS TAKE TO THE RIVERS
A new survey by Uniworld Boutique River Cruises amongst travellers aged 50 plus, has revealed over a third (32%) of those who had ocean cruised prior to the Covid-19 crisis have since chosen to do their first river cruise in 2022/2023, with 41% citing a preference for smaller ships and fewer passengers as their reason.
The survey also found the riverscape another important factor, with 30% citing river cruises as offering more varied scenery and views whilst sailing and 17% preferred the slower pace of itinerary that a river cruise offers.
Of the respondents surveyed, the need to travel for longer and further was significant, with 72% intending to take more holidays from 2023 onwards and just under half (44%) taking two to three more extra holidays a year.
Data from Uniworld’s past guests also showed an increase in duration of the holidays, with 84% travelling for a week or more longer than they did pre-pandemic and over a third (35%) travelling for two weeks or longer.

Windstar Cruises has partnered with the Coral Gardeners, a Mo’orea-based organisation in French Polynesia which is aiming to create a global movement to save the coral reefs through reef restoration and innovative solutions. The team grows, plants and monitors thousands of heat- resilient corals with the goal of restoring life back to the ocean.
The three-year partnership has begun with Windstar’s $35,000 donation to Coral Gardeners to adopt coral for all guests sailing with Windstar in French Polynesia for the remainder of 2022. Guests on the remaining 2022 sailings will receive a small card in their guest room, alerting them to the adoption of coral in their name.
In 2023 and 2024, each guest booked on a Windstar cruise in French Polynesia will be presented with the option to adopt a coral for a donation of $35 per person. 2022 is Windstar’s 35th anniversary of sailing in Tahiti/French Polynesia – the longest of any operator in the region and the only destination where the cruise line sails year-round.

EMERALD HARMONY MEKONG RIVER CRUISE FROM CAMBODIA TO VIETNAM
FAM TRIP REVIEW
By Prity Bahanda Travel Counsellor
I was very excited to receive an invitation to join the Emerald Harmony on a river cruise from Cambodia to Vietnam, hosted by William Young.
We flew out from Heathrow with Qatar Airways and were fortunate to get access to the dedicated QR lounge at T4 - a great start to the day with delicious food and of course, a glass of bubbles!
Upon arrival at Phnom Penh, we checked in at the Palace Gate Hotel and then departed to board the beautiful Emerald Harmony.
The cabins on board this wonderful ship were nice and spacious, with 42 cabins for a maximum of 84 passengers, complemented by a crew of 40 - an excellent staff to guest ratio.
The ship is well laid out, with the main Horizon Lounge, perfect for socialising and for those who prefer a quieter location, there is the smaller Lotus Lounge, a great place to have a coffee. The Reflections restaurant offers a wonderful mix of buffet and á la
carte offerings.
Our itinerary included a visit to the Killing Fields museum which was at times a harrowing experience but important to remember, before setting sail for an afternoon cruise to the Cambodian/Vietnamese border.
We disembarked the ship on the small transfer vessels called a Sampan which took us on shore to visit the local community, including Long Khanh Island, known for its scarf weaving and Hoa Hao Buddhist pagoda. At An Long, we joined a DiscoverMORE tour of Tràm Chim National Park, home to Tam Nong Ramsar Bird Sanctuary.
As part of our EmeraldPLUS programme, we went to My An Hung village in rural Vietnam which specialises in red-hot chillis and peppers, where we enjoyed some local folk singing and met with the locals.
The cruise finished in Ho Chi Min City, where we docked for the evening before heading to the airport for a domestic flight back to Cambodia and Siem Reap.
We also enjoyed an early morning marvel at the sunrise over the magnificent Angkor Wat before moving to a special location near a temple for a scrumptious champagne breakfast with food prepared by an NGO supported local bakery school which Scenic sponsors.
On our final night we attended a private magical gala themed dinner at Prasat Kravan, a small 10th-century temple. With free flowing drinks and a show featuring Apsara dancers in front of the candle lit temple ruins, this evening brought a most incredible end to what was a remarkable trip.
Summary
Overall the quality of the service and product was exemplary and I would thoroughly recommend this vessel
to a wide demographic of clientele, both young and old. For clients that have sailed on river cruises in Europe, cruising down the Mekong brings a totally new dimension.
The onboard attention from the staff and crew was exceptional and really added to the overall comfort and experience. Food on board was simply amazing and all the excursions were very well organised.
The service provided by the Scenic/ Emerald team and crew was truly seamless. I can only repeat my most grateful thanks to William Young and all the Scenic/Emerald team for what was truly a trip of a lifetime.
Other highlights of the fam trip included lunch at the Raffles Hotel, visiting the jungle covered Ta Prohm Temple and seeing the ‘Lara Croft Tomb’ where the film was set.

NEWMARKET HOLIDAYS LAUNCHES LAPLAND SANTA EXPERIENCE DAY TRIPS
Escorted tours specialist, Newmarket Holidays, has announced the launch of its Lapland Santa Experience Day Trips for 2023.
With sales for Lapland in 2022 having proved extremely popular, the operator has 18 new dates for 2023 now on sale, departing from a large number of regional airports, including Belfast.
Newmarket Holidays’ 2023 Lapland Santa Experience Day trips will offer the only specially chartered flights
to Santa’s airport (Pajala) on the 18 departure days. With tours exclusive to Newmarket Holidays and group sizes strictly limited, customers will have plenty of time to enjoy all the activities on offer throughout the day.
The new day tours include exclusive chartered direct return flights to Pajala in Swedish Lapland; return transfers to Santa’s village, warm, thermal clothing (including gloves and boots); hot berry
juice; a private family meeting with Father Christmas; a token Christmas gift for every child; a snowmobile ride; a traditional reindeer sleigh ride; a husky sled ride through the snowy countryside and a lunch of Swedish meatballs (or hot dog or vegetarian pasta dish).
Commenting on the launch of the new dates, Head of Trade Sales, Richard Forde, said: “The demand for 2022 dates has been particularly strong with the majority of flights sold out by
the summer.
“We’ve been encouraged by the number of enquiries from our agent partners for 2023 and we’re delighted to be launching with even more regional flights added to
the programme.
“Lapland is an immersive destination and our programme offers an intimate experience for families and friends
to enjoy the very best of Swedish Lapland – one which they’ll be able to remember for years to come.
“We would recommend agents getting in early with their customers to secure their place for this highly popular destination.”
Prices for the new Lapland Santa Experience Day Trips for 2023 start from just £679 per adult and £599 per child.

The darker the nights, the brighter the lights
See the northern lights in Iceland this winter
As the days shorten in the northern hemisphere, Iceland – nestled between Europe and North America in the Atlantic Ocean – starts preparing for a welcome annual guest. The dancing aurora, elusive by nature, are a spectacular sight of floating green ribbons moving grace- fully across the velvety winter skies.
What are the northern lights?
The auroras are a naturally occurring phenomenon that are a reaction of solar winds in the Earth’s magnetosphere. Simply put, particles in our atmosphere react to particles that reach the Earth from the sun. In the northern hemisphere, this light show is known as the aurora borealis, or northern lights. In the southern hemisphere, they’re called the aurora australis, or southern lights.
When can you see them?
Not surprisingly, darkness is a requirement. The aurora season in Iceland traditionally begins in October and lasts through April, but the northern lights have been seen as early as August. To increase your chances of seeing them, travelling outside the city is a good idea – when you escape the light pollution from streetlights, your view of the night sky is more impressive. Pick a clear evening to go light hunting, since the auroras
do their dance above the troposphere (where weather – and therefore clouds – happen); blanketed skies obstruct your view.
And if you want to explore even more, you can fly to the Westfjords, the North or the East of Iceland – where there are no cities, only towns – and try your luck there.
As a bonus to potential skylights, you also get quaint fishing villages, spectacular nature, and interesting activities to occupy your daylight hours. Travelling from Reykjavík and across Iceland is easy: Icelandair flies to the West, North and East multiple times a day, so you have the energy to spare to stay up all night.
Keep in mind
• Limited daylight makes room for the northern lights.
• The season is from October to April.
• Get out of the city to maximise your chances.
• Overcast skies are a no-go
– go aurora hunting when the
skies are relatively clear.
Did you know
• That Icelandair flies from the
UK to Iceland from multiple gate- ways many times a day?
• It’s easy to fly domestically in Iceland and it takes practically no time at all?
• When you fly Icelandair to North America, you can add a Stopover in Iceland for up to seven nights, with no additional airfare?
• For more info about flights, destinations, and the Icelandair Stopover, visit icelandair.co.uk

NORTHERN LIGHTS
NORTHERN LIGHTS PROMISE - HAVILA VOYAGES
There are few places in the world better for seeing the Northern Lights than northern Norway.
The best times of the year to catch a glimpse of this phenomenon is in late autumn and early spring - during the months of October, February and March. However, in clear weather and darkness, guests can experience the Northern Lights on an entire Havila voyage along
the coast.
Whether standing out on the deck or snug inside the observation lounge while watching the colourful display through the glass ceiling, this is a magical experience. Havila Voyages also offers guests a Northern Lights Promise - from 1st October to 31st March, the cruise line promises that guests will witness the Northern Lights on the Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen round trip voyage.
If the Aurora Borealis fails to appear across the night sky during the Round Voyage, guests will get a new 6 or 7-day voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes (Voyage North) or vice versa (Voyage South) completely free charge. The journey is with an inside cabin and includes all meals; breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Havila Voyages also offer a 3-day Tromso-Kirkenes Northern Tip of Europe sailing, as well as The Arctic Dream, a 2-day voyage from Kirkenes to Tromso.
EASYJET TO OPERATE ‘AURORA FLIGHT’
easyJet is partnering once again with disabled flying charity Aerobility to host a unique ‘Aurora Flight’, providing the opportunity to experience the magic of the Northern Lights at 30,000 feet.
The flight will be the first Northern Lights experience the airline and charity have operated since before the pandemic, which have previously enabled hundreds of passengers to enjoy amazing views of the Aurora Borealis from the sky over the past eight years.
The ‘Aurora’ flight will depart from London Gatwick on 18th February 2023 and includes a two-course meal at Gatwick Sofitel Hotel, pre-departure presentations and inflight commentary from special guests including Sky at Night presenter Pete Lawrence and Aurora experts from the British Antarctic Survey, as well as entertainment and refreshments onboard.
The funds raised from the Aurora Flight will support disabled flying at Aerobility.

Travel Matters speaks to
MATTHEW VALENTINE
Head of UK Sales Havila Voyages
What were the origins of Havila?
Norwegian Per Saevik followed his father into the fishing industry at just 12 years old. A few years later when he bought his first boat, the Havila Group was born. It now employs several thousand people in a range of businesses, including shipping.
For many years Per dreamed of being part of the coastal operation he had grown up watching from afar. Now in his 80’s, he is still at the helm of Havila Group and has finally seen his dream come to life.
Tell us about the cruise itinerary?
Havila’s ships all follow the same 12-day route along the Norwegian coast from Bergen, up into the Arctic Circle and around the North Cape to Kirkenes, before taking the same journey in reverse back to Bergen.
Our ships combine our government mandated route of 34 ports, with our coastal cruise offering. As a result, we offer a very different experience to a traditional cruise, stopping in out-of-the-way settlements and villages as well as the larger, better-known ports. This creates a more immersive experience for our guests, who get to see so much more of this beautiful country.
What can guests expect onboard?
Our ships feature the largest cabins on the coastal route,
a jacuzzi, gym and an observational lounge with a glass roof - perfect for keeping warm while you search for the Northern Lights.
The onboard dining is also a highlight. When you step onboard you join a culinary voyage, sampling traditional dishes and recipes from the communities we visit along the coastal route. There are also regular talks and lectures on- board on a variety of relevant subjects ranging from points of interest along the route, to local geology.
Is sustainability important for you and how is it reflected in your product?
Sustainability is the bedrock of our business and at the heart of every decision we make.
Our ships are currently the world’s most environmentally sustainable passenger ships of their size and feature the world’s largest battery pack on a passenger ship. That means they can sail quietly and emission free for up to four hours at a time.
We are incredibly proud that Havila Castor made history earlier this year with the first zero emission passenger sailing through the world heritage fjords. However, our work does not stop there. Our longer-term goal is to operate its twelve- day voyages emission free and we continue to invest in making that a reality.
What support can you offer to the travel trade to help them promote and sell your product?
The travel trade is key to our success. We have already started to build relationships with agency chains and tour operators and are in the process of joining ABTA. The next step is getting as many agents as possible onboard to experience it for themselves.
I’d encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch. We’d love to discuss how we can work together.
What is your personal favourite port of call on your itineraries and why?
That is a hard question as there are so many incredible places to visit! Earlier this year I went snowmobiling in Kjøllefjord. As we sped across the Arctic landscape, the Northern Lights danced across the skies above us.
It was a truly magical experience.
