PROBLEM STATEMENT The Information Systems (IS) field is undergoing rapid transformations due to technological advancements, globalization, and the ever-evolving demands of the digital age. Within this dynamic landscape, understanding the intricacies of career competencies, employability factors, and the emerging issues and challenges faced by professionals is paramount. First of all, the fragmented knowledge base. The available literature on Information Systems career competencies, employability, and challenges appears scattered, with insights dispersed across various sources. There is a lack of a centralized understanding that brings together diverse perspectives from multiple articles to form a cohesive narrative. Next, the limited integration of employability factors. While numerous articles touch upon career competencies and challenges, there is a discernible gap in the integration of employability factors. The interconnected relationship between skill development, industry demands, and employability outcomes remains underexplored. Last but not least, the emerging challenges are not adequately addressed. The literature may not sufficiently address the emerging challenges faced by Information Systems professionals, such as ethical considerations, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the evolving role of technology in societal contexts. These challenges are crucial for understanding the holistic picture of IS careers. 5

OBJECTIVES I. To determine the precise skills companies demand for the IT career they're looking for. II. To address the challenges faced by information system career. III. To determine the graduate employability in the Information Systems field. 6

METHODOLOGY The methodology employed in investigating information systems (IS) career competencies and employability is very crucial for comprehending the dynamics shaping the professional landscape. For our methodology, we have identified and gathered information on sixty (60) positions related to information systems or technology using a desktop research approach. We accomplished this by doing a comprehensive search on well-known employment sites such as Jobstreet, Linkedin, Indeed, Monster, and Careerjet. We have carefully extracted the following information for each position that we have identified: position names, organization or company names, date of advertisement publication, job requirements, job descriptions and responsibilities, salary in Malaysian Ringgit (RM), number of years of experience needed, organization or company size, and industry. We hope to gather important insights into the trends, prerequisites, and features of IT or information systems-related jobs in Malaysia by compiling this extensive dataset from numerous reliable sources. 7
