Letter from Jim Brown, CEO
A frequent request in our engagement surveys has been to expand our cafeteria
hours. I am excited to share with you that we will soon be expanding hours, days of
service and our menu. Beginning October 15th, the cafeteria will open for breakfast
from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. In December, we will then expand cafeteria service to
include weekend breakfast and lunch.
In addition to expanding our hours of operation, Martin and Chef Armando are
revamping our menu. More focus will be placed on our grill and action station with
the addition of a make your own sandwich bar and a featured sandwich of the
day. Additionally, a new rotation of salads will be introduced. We will maintain a hot
entrée each day and that menu is also being enhanced.
As a give-back to you, we are altering our pricing. Our goal is for an average lunch
ticket of $6.00 or less, including our colleague discount and $4.00 price target for
breakfast.
I hope that you enjoy these enhancements.

September 15th – October 15th 2021
Hispanic Heritage Month was originally
established as Hispanic Heritage Week
(September 15-22) in 1968 to celebrate the
contributions of people of Hispanic descent in
the U.S. The establishment of this week
coincided with the Civil Rights movement and
the rapidly changing demographics of the
country. This particular week was chosen as six
Latin American countries celebrate their
independence on those days. The observance
was extended to 31 days in 1989, and
we now have the opportunity to
celebrate our Hispanic community
for the entire month.

Rosario Villabroza
PRE-ANESTHESIA RN
Rosario called a patient that was scheduled for an
outpatient procedure in HOPD to obtain her medical &
surgical history. She immediately recognized that the
patient was having difficulty following the conversation
and wasn’t answering properly. She ended the call and
called the patient’s next of kin out of concern and
explained their conversation. She was then later
notified that the patient was rushed to the ER via
ambulance after she spoke to the patient’s next of
kin. The patient had experienced a STROKE!!!
