2 About HCA Healthcare

Letter from Jim Brown, CEO

Despite facing many challenges in 2021, it was a successful year for North Cypress. Of
note is the progress we’ve made in advancing our clinical quality agenda. As a hospital, we
are benchmarked against our 180+ peer hospitals using a balanced scorecard that we refer
to as the Clinical Excellence Dashboard.
Over the course of the year, we improved by 85 positions in our ranking amongst all HCA hospitals. This
improvement puts a top 50 ranking within reach. I am pleased to see such dramatic progress as our
quality is ultimately what our reputation will be built upon. This is an impressive team effort.

Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS

Tina Nalbone BA, RN will now be the IMCU/East 1&2 Manager. She has
been the Manager of MS3 and Telemetry since December 2019. Tina has
been a nurse for ten years, with four of those at North Cypress. She became
the manager of MS3/Telemetry just ahead of the pandemic and has
carried the team through some very challenging times and proven to be a
great leader. Tina cares deeply for her patients and her team and is a
patient advocate above all else. She also has a strong rapport with our
physicians and will be instrumental in the further growth and development
of IMCU.

Tina has been married twenty-six years to her husband Anthony and they
have two adult children, Tessa (also a nurse) and Brendon (also an
engineer like his father). Tina and her husband share their newly-emptied
nest with their two dogs, Max and Molly. When Tina has any free time, she
loves to read and crochet. She is currently binge-watching Worst Cooks in
America!

Please join me in congratulating Tina and wishing her the very best as she moves into this
exciting new role!© 2020. CONFIDENTIAL – Contains proprietary information. Not intended for external distribution.

CONGRATULATIONS

Please welcome Erick Rodriquez BSN, RN in his promotion to Clinical
Nurse Coordinator for IMCU/East. Erick joined us in November of 2020.
He started as a STARN with us and quickly moved to preceptor and
charge roles. Erick rose to leadership positions in previous employment
and easily stands out for his calm demeanor in the midst of challenging
situations. He worked as a valuable team member and leader through
the pandemic. Erick has proven himself to be a great patient
advocate who is dedicated to excellence in quality patient care.

Erick has been with his girlfriend Jennifer for thirteen years. He enjoys
spending time with her, playing video games, building Lego sets, and
reading in his time away from work.

Please join me in congratulating Erick and wishing him the very best as he moves into

Hospital Updates

We are GROWING for our community – Imaging Update!

On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, we will 15
transition to using an MRI trailer until the
construction and installation of a new
unit is complete (likely around 3 months).
The system in the trailer is a full-scale
unit, the same system we use in our
professional building, with a wide bore.
The Imaging staff is excited about the
capital purchase of a new, state-of-the-
art MRI! This will provide our community
with the most advanced technology
available today. HCA Houston North
Cypress will continue to offer the highest
quality imaging in our area, and we look
forward to providing improved images to
our patients in the very near future.

“5204 Patient and his wife raved about his stay. They have been here often and patient
stated everyone has been great but you know when there are a few that just stick out
as exceptional? He went on to mention Esther A, MS5, charge and how careful she
was with moving his IV, finding a place that would normally be a hard stick and getting
it on the very first try (not even needing to use a vein finder). She was friendly,
professional, and thorough. Top Notch. We also really enjoyed our day nurses, Ebony,
and Cynthia. The food has been better than expected. To be completely honest, we
were hesitant to come here. Our last visit was great but this time has been
amazing. We had a seamless transition from your offsite facility, taken right in and up
to our room.” – Story by Karen Bard

Hobbies: Horseback riding, Reading, Shopping, Organizing
Interesting Fact: I met my husband when I was five years
old, we were in the same Kindergarten class. We then went
our separate ways and met again 17 years later. On our
second date, his father played a VHS tape(yes he still has a
VHS player) of my husband and me playing t-ball together in
1987.
Favorite HCA Memory: The April 2020 tribute to Healthcare
Workers and EMS at North Cypress. It was beautiful to see
the support of our community and the team during such an
uncertain time. It was so emotional and overwhelming.
HCA Tenure: 14 Years with North Cypress

Stephanie Schmitt 50

“I would like to nominate Stephanie Schmitt as a Patient Experience
monthly entry. A recent patient took the time to e mail me directly about
her experience with Stephanie. This is a testimonial to the consistent care
Stephanie provides daily, and is only one of many compliments she has
received through comments from prior patient surveys. Stephanie is a
valued veteran of our MRI department and we appreciate her for the
many facets and details she manages to create a positive patient
experience, before and during MRI procedures. MRI requires many checks
and assurances prior to patient arrival, to ensure the patient perceives a
seamless experience. Stephanie is always diligent and manages each
and every patient with concern for their entire visit, and as you see below,
her patients see the same. Carla Jerro, Imaging Director

“Carla, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that I had a great
experience with my MRI last week and it was because of the technologist
Stephanie Schmitt. I had back-to-back head and neck MRI’s – which took
quite a while and I just wanted to tell you how wonderful Stephanie was
that whole time. She was so gentle and comforting during the whole
process. She put me at ease right from the very beginning and explained
what she was doing calmly and thoughtfully the whole time. She took the
extra moments to make sure I was comfortable and felt relaxed. I have
had some bad experiences with MRI’s in the past 40+ years I’ve been
having them, so I just wanted to send an acknowledgement of
Stephanie’s much appreciated treatment and was so grateful for
Stephanie’s help.” HCA North Cypress Imaging Patient
