Additional activities
The seminar entitled “The importance of forensic science and justice: case studies from
violent situations in 3 Southern border provinces of Thailand” was held on March 27th, 2018 at Piyachat
II building, Thammasat University (Rungsit campus). The seminar was lectured and criticized by Khun
Ying Pornthip Rojanasunand, MD and Pol. Gen. Attapon Chamsuwanwong.

Student activities
Crime scene investigation
The first-year students observed crime scene
investigation conducted by professional crime scene
investigators at the apartment model, 6th floor of Piyachat
building. This event was a topic of the course FSS645
Laboratory Techniques in Forensic Science.

Department of Forensic Science Forensic Gunshot Residue Analysis
The first-year students increased knowledge
of firearms and ammunition identification at Scientific
Crime Detection Center 1. Here, some of students had
an opportunity to try shooting.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)
The first-year students experienced a real work environment from Explosive Ordnance Disposal
(EOD) including basic knowledge of explosives, explosive management, and interesting case studies.

Awards Department of Forensic Science
We congratulate Miss Korunya Saenguthai, the advisee of
Assist. Prof. Chollanot Kaset, who won the silver medal in Young Thai
Inventors award from National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT)
on February 6th, 2018. Her project was submitted under the title of
“The evaluation of Oryza sativa L (Black rice) extracts for detection
of spermatozoa on the clothing and vaginal swab samples”. Korunya
also participated in the 5th Joint Symposium of Thammasat University,
BK21 Plus of CUK and National Defense Medical Center “Biomedical
Sciences and Biomechanics for Health” during November 9th-10th,
2018 at Thammasat University, Rungsit Campus and conferred an
oral presention of her work in this symposium.

Congratulations to Mister Wongsakorn Kangsanan for his winning the best poster presentation
award on the 5th Joint Symposium of Thammasat University, BK21 Plus of CUK and National Defense
Medical Center “Biomedical Sciences and Biomechanics for Health” during November 9th-10th, 2018
at Thammasat University, Rungsit Campus. He contributed his project entitled “Comparisons of DNA
analysis using Qiagen® Investigator® 24plex QS kit and AmpF1STR® Identifiler® Plus PCR Amplification
kit” under the advice and guidance of Assist. Prof. Duangnate Pipatsatitpong.
