Mrs. Kamp-Taylor likes to make
collages in her free time, and
she has been able to sell them
at art shows. She grew up in
Germany, but attended a
German/English School. She
fell in love with English
literature when she started
reading historical fiction books
by Taylor Caldwell in 7th grade!
Ms. Rogers became a
teacher because she loved
school as a kid, and wanted
to pass on that love to her
students. She loves
Hawthorne because of the
amazing teachers and
students. Outside of school,
Ms. Rogers loves to coach
competitive cheerleading.
Mr. Tinter is from Minnesota
and used to be an Elvis
impersonator. Before
teaching, he acted on shows
such as “iCarly.” He has
worked in the district for 11
years. He went into teaching
because he always enjoyed
learning, school, and working
with kids.
Ms. Geletko grew up surfing, and
when she retires, she would love
to rescue dogs and pair them
with people whose lives would be
better with these dogs. She
became a teacher because she
thinks that a good quality
education is the key to open so
many doors. She came to
Hawthorne in 1994. "I will miss
Hawthorne but am excited to
teach at a dedicated Middle
school."
Mrs. Long loves art - she and
her husband Chris collect
street art. She worked in
entertainment publicity and
marketing for a big TV network
for almost 7 years before
venturing into teaching. This is
Mrs. Long’s 7th year teaching.
She loves her students! They
keep her young while
simultaneously giving her gray
hair.
Ms. Kim decided to become a
teacher because she wanted
to contribute to society in a
positive way. One unknown
fact about her is that she has
traveled to about 13 different
countries. She loves working
at Hawthorne because of the
great support network of
teachers and administrators.
Mr. Obregon used to be in a
band called The Passengers,
where they wrote and sang
original material. He can play
the bass, rhythm guitar and
drums. He also DJs. Mr.
Obregon decided to become a
teacher because he wanted to
interest students in the world
of mathematics.
Ms. Slaughter became a
math teacher because it
involves reasoning and
problem solving skills. She
loves Hawthorne because her
students motivate her with
their interests and thought
processes. On weekends, she
likes to go to her sons sports
games, travel, and cook.
Mrs. Kertesz loves sports! She
played softball, was on the
bowling team and took
gymnastics and dance classes.
She majored in PE in college,
taking nearly every sports class
possible and decided to teach to
share her passion with kids. Her
first teaching job was as a PE
instructor but was needed to
teach science as well. She loves
the Hawthorne family and will
miss being a part of it.
Ms. Shwartz has been teaching
at Hawthorne for 28 years. She
became a teacher because
wanted to help students find
their passion for learning and
finds joy in watching students
discover the wonders of science!
Outside of school, she enjoys all
sports and outdoor activities.
She hopes to become a
photographer when she retires
to capture beautiful moments in
people's lives and magnificent
scenery while traveling.
Mrs. Federman has three boys.
Her husband, Mr. Federman,
teaches at Beverly Hills High
School. She comes from a
family of teachers (her mom,
her sister, her brother, her
grandmother). It wasn't until
she had her first art class in
10th grade that she knew she
loved art and wanted to share
that passion with kids. She has
taught Art at BV, El Rodeo,
and now Hawthorne!
Mrs. Terranova is a music
teacher at Hawthorne School
in Beverly Hills. She grew up
playing piano, she has had a
passion for music since she
was very young. She loves
teaching at Hawthorne School
because she likes making
students feel proud of their
musical talents.
Mrs. Gutheinz decided to
become a teacher after
attending a class about
teaching young kids music.
She enjoys working with the
Hawthorne community to
create a positive school
culture. She, along with Mrs.
Cress, provides students an
upturned to explore acting
through their musical theater.
During her spare time, she
enjoy sewing and has made
clothing and bags!
Madame Rousseaux is married
and has a young son at home.
She was inspired by a teacher
earlier in her education who had
a positive impact on her. That is
why she wanted to become a
teacher. She loves teaching at
Hawthorne because she has a
wonderful class of students
very interested in French.
Señor Foldvary began as a
Spanish teacher in 2006,
and then as a social studies
teacher at Horace Mann in
2007. He loves being a
Hawthorne Viking, and the
great energy and talent of
the Spanish students at
Hawthorne!
Mrs. Crane became a teacher
because climate change is real
and wanted to educate her
students on the growing issue.
She loves teaching at
Hawthorne because of the
community of teachers,
parents, and students. She
has a daughter named after
the aurora lights, and works
with dolphins every summer.
Mr. Sharmokh is married with
two little girls. In his spare
time, he enjoys hiking, sailing,
and playing volleyball. After
graduating architecture
school, he reflected upon his
life and his most memorable
experience involved teaching
kids to swim. He decided that
he wanted to teach. He loves
teaching yearbook because it
includes elements of graphic
design he learned from college.
Coach Ash was a collegiate
athlete in track and field and
basketball. She continues to run
daily. She wanted to inspire
health and fitness in young
people that lead her into a career
as a physical education teacher.
Coach Ash has two children who
attend the school. She loves
being a part and helping this
community, this is why she at
Hawthorne today!
Coach Paysinger loves sports
and saw teaching as an
opportunity to share this love
with kids. He enjoys coaching
different sports and working with
a variety of age levels. The best
thing about Hawthorne for him is
the change to inspire young kids
to becoming athletes.
