Chronicle Edition 4 107 Rotaract is something I never thought of joining but joined accidentally. Certainly I think that accident made me to take one of the best decisions I ever took in University Life. I always had a feeling in my mind that I need to contribute something for the society and Rotaract gave me the perfect platform to that. I certainly owe the club for that. Year 2023-24 was a year filled with so many ups and downs but yet the journey was always filled with moments to cherish. It was really a great experience to work with new friends from other faculties of the University. Certainly to be honest I earned a bunch of good souls through RACUOK. With the projects I did with the club I learnt and improved my soft skills alot. And the experiences I gained will surely be something for my future.The year was very well planned and that credit should go to the EXCO and the BOD. Chronicle Edition 4 108 Joining the Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya and participating in various projects such as ස්වභා සමුද්ර, Click 2.0, Jingle Bells, and Ignite Sri Lanka has been an enriching experience. Each project offered unique learning opportunities, from organizing beach clean-ups, turtle conservation, tree donations and coral cleanup in ස්වභා සමුද්ර to fostering creativity and community engagement through Click 2.0 and Jingle Bells. Ignite Sri Lanka allowed me to contribute to the development of Giribawa in six different sections broadening my understanding of social responsibility. As one of the team leaders in community service avenue, I developed my leadership, communication, and project management skills, learning to navigate challenges and inspire my team toward common goals. Rotaract gave me many opportunities to improve my personality which I always greatful. Chronicle Edition 4 109 The Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya is another turning point in my life. When I joined the Rotaract Club as a first-year undergraduate in 2021, I had no idea what was going on here. Gradually, I was able to become an active member here by contributing to the projects. I was able to contribute to about eight projects as an organizing committee member within these three years. So, the 2023–24 Rotaract term is the term I like the most in my Rotaract journey because I was able to become a team leader in the club service avenue. It is the place where I was able to gain a lot of experiences, improve my skills, reach achievements, meet many friends, and gather many memories. Rtr. Participating in the Ignite Sri Lanka project and helping establish the palmyra industry in Thammannawa village as a sustainable income source showcased our commitment to community service. Leading Project Arogya, aimed at enhancing rural health, was a deeply rewarding experience. As the Corporate Relations Coordinator for Career Fair 2024, I honed my communication skills and built valuable connections. Coordinating Rota Wasantha Udanaya further enriched my leadership journey. These experiences, along with active participation in various club events, culminated in the honor of being named the Most Outstanding Team Leader for 2023-24. Chronicle Edition 4 113 My Rotaract journey in the year 2023-24 was like a wild rollercoaster ride with a lots of ups and downs. I started out as a super inactive member, practically invisible. Then, out of nowhere, I got the chance to chair the 14th Installation OC, and that changed everything! After that, I was honored to be selected as the team leader of the Club Services Avenue. From there, I took on various responsibilities in organizing committees for events like Christinzel ‘23, RotaTomorrow 4.0, and Career Fair ‘24. Despite all the chaos and the challenges, every moment was an incredible adventure that taught me so much.
