C E d i t i o n T h r e e hronicle A Dance with Nature In this world, There is a magical thing Which no one can see It has inside and outside And me? I am a person In the outside Standing alone But, Doesn’t that mean I am strong enough To handle things Al l by myself? Know that chi ld , Blaze burnt the brightest When the conditions are At their worst So make it best! Coz, Life is a shining glaze In the twi l ight When the break hissed and screeched, I stepped into the train looking for a corner seat. As I kept the heavy luggage aside, I felt that al l the sorrows, tensions and burdens went off making way for the sweet memories of Jesmie and me. It has been a long time since I received a vacation. Due to the war, I was prisoned among the gun fires, huge noises and I was fed up with the platoon of soldiers. Although I was busy with a bunch of duties I was always with my loving Jesmie. The most terrible thing was there was not any communication between us for eight months. My journey to the vi l lage wi l l be a great surprise for her and my new-born baby. I bought a bouquet of carnations which is her favourite kind of flowers. And, I bought some l ittle toys for the baby I had never seen before. I was so excited because I did not know whether the baby was a girl or a boy. I had only seen the l ittle baby through my loving Jesmie. After a long journey by train, I hurried my steps to reach the doorstep of my home. Final ly, I was It s a Hasty Farewell With open arms, I embrace the rain, as it drenches me to the bone. I dance around, without a care, with nature as my throne. The chaos around me disappears, as I twirl and spin in glee. The drops of rain, l ike crystal tears, reflect the joy in me. I feel al ive, I feel so free, as the rain pours down l ike a vei l . My worries fade, my heart is awake, as I dance without fai l . So let the rain pour down on me, as I dance my troubles away. For in this moment, I am free, and nothing can ruin my day. CREATIVE CORNER It’s Good To Be Alive By Rtr. Isora Liyanaarachchi By Rtr. Chamathka Devindi

C E d i t i o n T h r e e hronicle near the main door. My fingers were trembl ing whi le ringing the doorbel l . The heartbeat was also high and audible. After a few seconds, the door was opened by a l ittle girl . She is a chip off the old block. Al l the features including the thin eyes, round nose, smal l mouth, and blonde wavy hair were simi lar to my loving Jesmie. The si lence was broken by the l ittle girl when she said ‘Ma-ma’ . My old mother – in – law came towards me with the walking stick and as soon as she saw me her eyes were fi l led with tears. At the same time, I saw my loving Jesmie’s smi l ing face through the white flower chain tied on the photo frame. Al l wished they could be so. Lying on a comfy sofa Looking out of that glass door The green yard gl ittering with sunshine Licking the edge of a fine ceramic cup Decorated with tiny blossoms and leaves. Golden l ine marking the brim. The locks of hair messing up with the breeze Not them but they occupied the tiny basement. Flooded with sewage water, Smoke coming per month, To get rid of those bugs and cockroaches. They too had dreams! Yet, unattainable. So, they decided to be parasites. But was it their choice? “If we had money, We could have been nice No more l ies Stronger ties”. And won’t be si l ly. To l ick tea and make merry with golden cups Made of heat and sweat. Parasites and Merry Lives Inspired by the Academy Award-winning movie Parasite Storm, wind and the breeze Are al l gentle by themselves, Could you notice that? The breeze, once sighed Twice sighed and she was to sigh Once again, when I asked her this. “Are you so egotistical?” The breeze swept away with si lence, Letting the fresh daffodi ls dance And my whole flesh and blood soothed in her vigour. The wind, sprang, In a bl ink of an eye Withered them, The sweet blossoms down to the ground. The wind, invited his fel low Who bounded and, The entire blossoms vanished Like they were stricken by a peri lous thunderbolt. Cal l her! She appeared, “You are gentler, my lass!” “Identity is not egotism!” Kissing my hands, she fol lowed me. CREATIVE CORNER To the Breeze By Rtr. Wickshi Kalani By Pavani Premarathne By Rtr. C E d i t i o n T h r e e hronicle TODAY, a mouse is not something that eats cheese, but it is something to cl ick on, keys don’t only open doors but it type words, Bugs don’t fly around but cause trouble in your digital device and so on goes the l ist where technology overtook our vocabulary. Technology not only brought a change into sectors l ike communication, healthcare, education but also employment too immersed into it. Technology is a forever advancing element which has been deepening its journey, creating new jobs and opportunities along its way. Machines, digital tools appl ications and systems have increased worker productivity over the past few decades in every industry. It enhances human labour by boosting employer productivity and fostering the interaction between service providers and their cl ients. And further exceeding expectations, technology has created new jobs and income possibi l ities. A few decades back, if people came across words l ike Data Scientist, Software Developer, Information Security Analyst, Computer Systems Analyst and so on it would have been phrases with no sense but today they carry much significance and high requirement to operate the business world. With the emergence of the internet, World Wide Web, advanced digital devices and social media these employment roles popped up expanding the scope for new jobs, which are intermediates between technology and the organization process. Then came the game changer into the play; ‘Social Media’ taking employment into a different dimension. Content and information are the most valuable wealth in today’s context and with Social Media people are being given the opportunity to market content and earn an income. Websites, Blogs, YouTube channels are platforms of income possibi l ities enabl ing individuals to become entrepreneurs; more specifical ly addressed as ‘Social media entrepreneurs’ which is defined as individuals who use the power of platforms l ike Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok to create or promote digital content. You can never predict the l imit or destination of technology and hence it continues to create novel jobs and opportunities for enthusiasts who seek technology as a key to unleash potentials. As time passes by we are definitely going to come across many more innovative roles and opportunities in the corporate world, which wi l l be unleashed with the advancement of technology. C E d i t i o n T h r e e hronicle "I want this." She pointed out a smal l statue that stood among toys in the wal l cupboard. "No, it wi l l be easi ly breakable." "So, just watch it." "But I want that smal l dog." She cried without tears. "Listen! It is made of glass. I can surely bet that you wi l l break it if you take it out. It is not a toy; it is a statue gifted to your mom by her parents. You have these dol ls, cars, and everything. Shut up and play with them." The big eyes traveled from the glass statue to my face. It seemed that she obeyed my words. She rested her head on my breast. Her cute dol l with golden hair was sleeping on her hands. "Don’t shout now." "She is sleeping." She whispered to me, keeping her chubby finger on her rosy l ips. I just nodded to accept her request. It was raining! The covered calmness shattered with the loudness of rain, and I woke up. "Where was that l ittle girl?" I was confused. A few abnormal minutes were spent to real ize that it was a dream, cuddl ing my chi ldhood by the young me. The curtains in my room started to dance softly, letting the coldness admire my sleeping mood. Suddenly, my smartphone rang. I jumped from the bed to my table. A cal l from Dad. "Good morning, Putha, Happy Birthday!" "Thank you, Thaththa." CREATIVE CORNER The Gift By Hansini Dambadeniya

C E d i t i o n T h r e e hronicle I peered upon the window at a world eerie amidst the chaos. Like a scene in a dystopian age of a fictional world. And I grew envious of my own faint reflection in the glass staring back at me, in the outside looking in. Time to breathe, time to think, time to reflect. Waiting for the si lence to cease; Trapped in the peace of a si lent war.
