The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 4 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 5 “Ajeet - 2022”: The Editors’ Tribute to the Cadets of Sainik School Bijapur. The purpose of “Ajeet” is to provide a platform for young thinkers to express their thoughts uninhibited and as a form of self-expression. In the words of Owen Feltham, “Of all trees, I observe God hath chosen the vine, a low plant that creeps upon the helpful wall; of all beasts, the soft and patient lamb; of all fowls, the mild and guileless dove. Christ is the rose of the field, and the lily of the valley. When God appeared to Moses, it was not in the lofty cedar nor the sturdy oak nor the spreading palm; but in a bush, a humble, slender, abject shrub; as if He would, by these elections, check the conceited arrogance of man.” The aim of this publication is to honour the inspirations and aspirations of our cadets, who are being guided to communicate with clarity of purpose with all the possibilities that life has to offer, to make us respond to the fire within and remain true to themselves. With any creative writing activity comes the opportunity for selfexpression. Some cadets have fecund imagination whereas others struggle to express themselves, ‘AJEET’ provides an opportunity for cadets to adopt a safe and comfortable form of self-expression, which is not reined with format or structural limitation. Our budding writers have been encouraged to write so that each paragraph exhibits its own integration of content and structure. Penning their thoughts down in the form of an article, a poem or an editorial can be self-rewarding for our fledglings. “AJEET” is an amalgamation of the avant-garde thought process of the young minds, who are the beacon of the future generation. The compilation of these writeups is a glimpse into the intriguing world of thoughts and dissolutions regarding pertinent issues which concern the youth of today. Cadets-imbibe on-campus ethos and translate some of them in the form of creative writing. ‘Ajeet’ is a step towards creating an opinionated yet flexible mindset among our learners. “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will.” – George Bernard Shaw Mr. KNB Rao Chief Editor Editorial

The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 8 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 9 From the Administrative Officer's Desk. I am honoured to be part of this great institution and write few lines in the columns of annual school journal ‘The Ajeet’. I am reminded of a beautiful couplet by Robert Frost “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep…” Sainik School Bijapur is one amongst the best schools in residential schools. The deserved reputation that school has achieved over the years in every sphere, speaks volumes about the hard work, team spirit and dedication of each member of the school fraternity. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 10 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 11 School Report 58th FOUNDING DAY SAINIK SCHOOL BIJAPUR (16 SEP 2021) Good morning to all of you, 1. Honourable Chief Guest of the day Maj Gen U Suresh Kumar, YSM, VSM (Roll No-797, Wodeyar House), on behalf of the entire Sainik School Bijapur fraternity, I would like to express my gratitude to you for having graced this auspicious occasion by your online presence, despite your commitments and time bound schedule. Your benign presence on this occasion is a source of encouragement and motivation to all of us. I also accord a cordial welcome to our distinguished Guests, Proud Parents, Members of staff, my dear cadets, ladies and gentleman. Good Morning to all present in this august gathering. It is indeed my proud privilege to accord a warm welcome to all on this momentous occasion of the 58th Founding-cum- Annual Day Celebration of Sainik School Bijapur. 2. Sir, as an alumnus of this school, you would be aware that, Sainik School Bijapur (the pride of Karnataka) over the years has successfully carved a niche for itself and is today held high amongst a select group of schools. The alumni of the school has held the highest echelons in the Armed Forces and in other walks of life. I sincerely believe that the virtues “Ajeet hain, Abheet hain" - the school motto imbibed in the cadets at their tender age will help them burgeon and ease into the footsteps of their illustrious predecessors. During the 58 years of its existence the School has lived up to the expectations of the founding father Late Shri VK Krishna Menon, the then Defence Minister of India , by sending a large number of cadets to the Armed Forces. However, those who couldn’t make it to the Defence Services, they have excelled in various other careers. We are proud to place on record that eight of our Old boys have reached the rank of Lt Gen or equivalent in the Armed Forces. The School is really proud of them. 3. I deem it a rare honour to head an institution of this stature. It would be my endeavour to take it to greater heights. 4. Undoubtedly, the Pandemic is a trying time for all the practitioners of education. The idea of making children learn has never been so closely worked upon and each method was improvised through research and practices to ensure qualitative - learning for cadets. We wish to create a learning society in which each cadet is a partner in spreading knowledge and engaged in knowledge transfer. There is no doubt ‘knowledge is power’ but the manner in which knowledge has been democratised over the past few decades is an extraordinary development. In the present society, you just cannot move along without access to knowledge and a healthy respect for it. The formal system of schooling needs a thorough revision and a paradigm shift in thinking if it has to play a responsible role in our ongoing march towards a knowledge society and the challenging scenario of today. Sainik School Bijapur has been engaged for more than five decades in the onerous task of grooming its cadets to excel in academics and other spheres to serve the society as well as the Nation in all ways of life. We, at Sainik School Bijapur are cognizant of the huge responsibility on the shoulders for the present and future of the young boys who join this institution with dreams in their eyes and after having studied in this institution pass out from the portals with wings to their dreams. We assure you that we will continue to give our best to our students for their all-round personality development.

The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 28 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 29 TIME Flies...... From far across the diverse lands of India a troop rather a band of brothers were to have a rendezvous for 7 long years at the most beautiful 'palace' ,not any ancient palace, it was a 58 year old heaven on Earth. To begin with, I feel quite nostalgic to pen down our experience at the portals of the school and at the same time a bit worried for if I leave any stone unturned. It was the year 2015, when the herd of 104 'students' were going to be transformed into a troop of 104 'cadets' . The journey of seven years was a marvel of happiness, joy, grief, motivation probably filled with the 'NAVARASAS' {The nine penultimate emotions}. In class 6th we were naive inexperienced and raw. All of a sudden we were in middle of a fast paced military culture , not knowing the usage of cutlery, unaware of the fact that we were allowed to meet our parents once in a month, we enjoyed a week and then nightmares of a few started. We all were alloted incharges from class 7th who comforted us to the alien environment, they joked with us and even were tough on us. Days and months rolled, we were promoted to 7th, we felt that we too had an authority and power to correct and make things, a responsibility of having an outcharge and teaching him all the rules and regulations just like an elder brother to his younger brother, even punished them for their mistakes but had a brotherly relationship. It was a good experience. Saturday was the most awaited day of the week, not because Sunday followed it but because of the movie which was screened in the auditorium, the inquisitiveness inside each cadet was way too high. Saturdays inhibited academics but promoted creativity. A creative idea of hiding eatables and devouring in the auditorium, I still remember one of my pals sneaked in a big packet of potato chips without even being noticed. The most interesting part was of the negotiation or inquiry of who was the culprit behind any mistake. A hard punishment prevailed after it. Seniors used to say" accept your mistakes honestly and you will be left" but it was sure that we were to have a ragda! And in Class 8 we were for the first time in our lives called as a 'sir' this had a great impact on us as our juniors looked upto us we had to live as an example or role model for them. In the 7 years of experience we learnt that in our lives 'Integrity' holds good rather than 'Honesty'. An integrated team can do wonders. It was 15th August when we were in class 9 where our batch wholly represented the school in the Independence day Parade and brought home a shiny trophy. We proved that "discipline is the bedrock of drill". The most curious part of the year was the end of the first semester, not beacause of the results of exams, it was the time when our Educational trips were held. Exuberated us couldn't even sleep the previous night before the advent of trip..! Those nostalgic nightouts still linger in my mind. During Down the Memory Lane
The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 28 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 29 exam days, the days seemed to be too long though we seated in recreation halls from morning to afternoon, we would dose off out of boredom or play our own made games while some would read novels and thus float another dimension disconnecting from reality. Class 10 board exams hindered our joys but for good cause, boards gave rise to new academicians, South zones and athletics gave rise to marvelous athletes. During the cross country finals, it was the 'JOSH ' which was at peak. Planning our run accordingly and making our run buddies the previous nights gave us a feeling of some thing like going out to wage a war. That moment when you see your satisfied block all your coordinated breaths get relieved, Ahh..! That feeling can never be expressed in finite words Even interhouse competitions triggered many favouting emotions towards house and its spirits. I just want re-live those 7 years once again!! Class 11 was like a meeting on a brief note due to the prevailing pandemic but we enjoyed a lot even in those 2 months which was incomparable to that of previous 5years. With thrashing birthday boys in the stinky ponds, grabbing chocolates of the poor birthday boy who wanted to distribute equally. I am sure there are many things missing in my musing which I have personally not witnessed. I beg your pardon for the cause. We are indebted to our school for keeping us on right paths of our destiny and a 'GURU' behind us. Cdt Vivek S. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 30 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 31 Blaise Pascal once rightly said “Most of humanity's problems stem from the man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone”. As the digital era has stepped in, giving rise to countless distractions a place where you get everything in just a click, focus has become a rare skill. You may wonder why we need focus? Let me help you to understand this with an example, a documentary was to be made on the richest and successful persons. So, they invited Bill Gates and warren Buffet separately. They were asked to write one letter word answer for their success. They had no conversation while writing as they were called separately. To everyone's surprise when the word was unvieled both had written the same word ‘Focus’. Cal Newport in his book Deep work mentions that work done is Intensity of focus. Time taken. A Focused person can achieve incredible results in less time. Now the question is how to enhance our focus? Here are some tips on how you can improve your focus. Here is a disclaimer: Don't think that within a few days you will attain the high power of focus. Remember great things take time. 1) Fix a time slot. Ensure that during this time period you don't have any work. Get everything done prior to this be it your meals, sending a message to a friend or anything else. Initially, you can fix the duration to your convenience . 2) Clear the clutter. Clean everything that's there on your desk or study table except the books that you have to read .Bring all the necessary things that are required. Be it a sharpened pencil, water bottle, Compass etc... Of course turn on the DND mode of your phone and distance it from you. 3) Commitment. Commit yourself, you can move mountains. During this time period initially you can keep as 30 mins, You must not get up and get you work done. There will be endless thoughts running in your mind Every time your mind wanders off. 4) Perseverance during the first few days it will be arduous and as they say “no pressure no diamonds.” Do it for straight 21 days and you will see amazing results. If you fail then bounce back that is only the key. Embark a wonderful journey. Cdt Ravitej M. Jamadar 5495, Class X A Wodeyar House How to Stay Focused in a Distracted World
The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 30 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 31 Basically it is a book written by Robin Sharma, but on a broader field of view, it wouldn't be wrong to call it a group of people, who are rise before the sun and are lifelong genius. Quote unquote Robin Sharma, " Own your morning, elevate your life." Using or spending the beginning hours of your day fruitfully are shown to increase the capability and quality of work of that person greatly. One benefit of waking up early is that it reduces stress. One can start the day on a more optimistic note and gain heaps of mental fitness. Not only does it increase one's sleep quality, but is also shown to help a student get better grades. Apart from this, it keeps you healthy, helps your skin glow, gets you rid of those dreaded dark circles, enhance your productivity and helps you enjoy your quietude alone, which many are weak at. The main benefit of waking up early is that it makes you way more happier than you usually are. How does it help your career, craft and business? Waking up early improves concentration and memory power of students. They get better at studies. On the dim side, people who have less hours of sleep experience low levels of energy and creativity. And yes, it is scientifically proven too. Getting up early for business persons or rather adults, helps them accomplish their tasks when they don't face distraction as people feel most alert in the beginning hours of their day. Waking up early is a dreadful, painful task for anyone. I've evn seen memes say " Today my bed wasn't feeling well, so I stayed home to take care of it!" Haha. But wait there are a few easy techniques to accomplish this mammoth task. • Stay in a strict but flexible routine, which bars you to at least two 2 hour non technology zones a day, one in the morning, one in the evening. • Start gradually. Getting up 30 minutes earlier than you usually would in the beginning and then so on. • Keep the alarm clock away from your pillow, so you can't slap it shut as soon as it screeches. • Before that analytical brain of yours stars giving you excuses on why you should sleep more, jump right out of bed. • Also, reward yourself with small prizes on achieving goals. It's time to introduce Sharma's magical 66 day rule. All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end! It's scientifically proven that anything you do for 66 continuous days reaches the Automacity point, after which it is a habit, you do it, even if you feel you cannot. Just don't give up until you complete 66 days. I'm sure you would ask for scientific proof to accept such a horrendous schedule. Actually its not. Rising early makes you happier. Dopamine- the pleasure, happiness hormone is at its highest levels during this pocket between 4 am and 6 am and harnessing it with the right tools, with intense physical activity will get you touch phenomenal heights, there by making The 5 AM Club
The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 32 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 33 you more happier and optimistic. Also, during this period, Cortisol- the fear hormone is at its lowest level, from midnight till early morning. Still need proofs? Yes I have it! A study in 2014 on about 120 people claims that people who rise before the sun have better problem solving skills, better skills to deal with negativity, all thanks to the low levels of cortisol throughout the day. A disclaimer: Getting up early doesn't mean to get less sleep. Sleep for at least 7-8 hours a day, with power naps of 10-20 minutes at once, for 2-3 times a day, that leave to feeling more alert and refreshed. To make yourself the quintessential LIFELONG GENIUS, you need to balance your schedule such that you rest and work in the right proportions. At last, let me share a few positive words, " Success comes to those who have the willpower to win over their snooze buttons." OWN YOUR MORNING, ELEVATE YOUR LIFE. I am not that bad, you see... Afterall I am a result, hard truth, no lies And yes I have a really odd profession Okay I didn't opt for it Neither was I hired Sometimes I just wanted a holiday Actually I deserved I holiday So I took it granted one day and left. No one died that day, no soul-shipping to the eternity belt Next day on duty I heard echoes of joy all over that ball of mud. 'Miracle' is all they shouted. 'Oh dear' I gasped realizing my mistake. Received a warning notice from The Supreme. "No holidays pal, Get back to business mate" Yes that was Supreme otherwise who addresses Death with such politeness? Flew through the sky To see if someone dies, Seeing faces stitched with weak smiles Eyes sometimes hazel or brown staring at the end of miles Thousand of deaths everyday, thousands of soul-shippings Some die by bullets, some disease or Sometimes by accidentally tripping Some die seeing last of their dreams, some at the watch of their loved ones. Some die, content and satisfied while some unsatisfied with the greed of earning tons. You see I am usually busy, a lot of deaths here and there. I don't look the way you see me. "On a black cloak with a deadly axe" No, I'm a gentleman. Not a murderer. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 34 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 35 The matter of environmental protection is of utmost urgency because of the maximum danger that the environment is in right now. Owing to various humanmade activities, the situation is under a dire threat. The damage is tremendous and has reached a point of no return. However much we try, we cannot undo the destruction that has already been inflicted. Thus, we need to lessen the human impact on the environment as much as possible. Environmental protection implies taking care of and rescuing the environment. First, awareness about environmental protection should be spread; the familiar people should know about the need and requirements of environmental protection. Environmental degradation can be kept under check in some ways. People should be encouraged to plant trees. Forests and vegetations are being cleared extensively for farming and construction purposes. It has led to the depletion of forest resources by and large. The number of trees has diminished to a great extent. Trees are our only source of oxygen in the earth; clearing trees and plants results in depletion and a decrease in the amount of oxygen available in the air. This puts the entire humanity at risk. By facilitating the growth of trees, the greenery can be restored. The loss made can be compensated. Waste management is yet another tenet. Management of waste implies proper disposal of trash. Practices such as dumping of untreated wastes on water bodies and land should be stopped. Appropriate waste bins, sewer systems, and garbage dumps should be present, where people can get rid of the waste. The municipality should adequately treat it. Thus the number of ways in which to bring about environmental management is numerous. People need to be more aware and responsible. They should understand the urgent need to be careful in their day-to-day dealings with nature and the environment. They should be more cautious. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 36 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 37 Education is an integral part in people’s lives, it can either make them or break them depending on their careers. But the education today is not the same as it was a year ago, when this corona pandemic hit the world. The children are the most affected ones due to this pandemic. The children are not able to see their education as they used to before. There are certain advantages also of having online education, but as everything which glitters is not gold, in the same way, this online education, looks very interesting from outside, but the real condition is known to only two categories of people, students and teachers. The online education can be gained at home or any place, we don’t need a school bag for such education, just a mobile phone of 2 by 5 inch is required for this kind of education. Children can download any study material they need and read it for free. Moreover, this education helps children to use the technology around them properly. Children can learn new skills from their mobile phone. But we can’t consider online education as good for a bunch of advantages. There are disadvantages too, which may be less in number but effect the growth of children in a vigorous way. The most common effect of online education can be seen in the handwriting of the children. According to a survey conducted in Rajasthan, most of the children have no difference in their handwritings and ant’s legs and they are also taking double time to write anything which they were able to write very easily. And obviously, 10% more boys have lost their handwriting because of the online education. This is the disadvantage which came in sight of all the parents very easily, but there are certain disadvantages which are not visible directly. Dr. Sanjay Patil, ophthalmologists, Chairman of the Hospital Board of India says that he has got 30 % increase in the cases related to children who are attending online classes. He said “Patients are complaining about dryness and itching in eye” Online classes may cause stress on their growing brains, which can lead to improper growth of brain as well as other body parts. The children do not have to think much in the online class, they can easily get any answer from Google which is reducing their sharpness and creativity. The children are also getting addicted with mobile. Education is not only limited to textbooks, there is also something called as practical and physical education, which children are not able to get during this pandemic. Sitting at home without any exercise is making children weaker. The teachers too are facing much problem while taking online classes. The thing which is most painful is that being cadets of Sainik School Bijapur, we are sitting at home and disturbing our parents. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 38 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 39 “Better keep yourself bright and clean because you are the window through which you see the world". First, let's understand what a attitude is? Simply put, it's a person's mental outlook. How a person thinks or feels about Someone or something. We often hear advice like 'Be positive, Think positive, Have a positive attitude towards life etc... So, what is the positive attitude? When you think of a positive side of the situation or someone etc.... THEN if you will acknowledge the lesson that it is teaching you and see the positive side. As rightly said by Napoleon Hill “Every adversity carries with it a seed of equivalent or greater benefit". The question is how can we change our attitude. These are some of the steps by which you can change your attitude 1. Reflect on your content. Take a pause and think of what you see, hear, read etc... If our input has good content then automatically our output will be good. You cannot expect positive results by negative thoughts. Select carefully of what you watch, hear and read .Gradually, when you begin to do this your thoughts will change and you will see a different perspective. 2. Associate with positive people. We become part of what we is around us. As, we are social animals we are greatly influenced by our friends, relatives or people around us. It is better to leave the company of those friends who are negative. After listening to them you feel listless and drained. If the people around you are positive then you feel enthusiastic and supportive. You are filled with zeal and energy. Don't expect that you will see a profound change in an overnight Repetition is the key. “We become what we think about" Cdt Abhimanyu Singh 5491, Class X A Hoysala House Change your Attitude change your Life

Peer Pressure can be beneficial but in most case it is observed that its impact is Negative. The thought, behaviour and taste everything is influenced by the people or peers. The change in way of life of our peers may often force us to change our way of life and reading it .It is human tendency to do what crowd does , and only few have courage to resist it and try to be themselves. Peer pressure is bound to affect positively & negatively. The distinction between positive and negative peer pressure lies in thoughtful analysis of the views or masses, following your peers blindly leave a negative impact on your life while an analytical approach or looking at peer can help you act positively. Teenage is the phase of life when you are exposed to world outside. It is phase of life when you curve your personality, it is phase of life. When you set up principles for your life. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 40 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 41 Gone are the days when one had to wait for a teacher to get back to you to clear your doubts. In this age of technology. We can learn things at any time, from any place. We need not wait to begin learning until the start of the semester, as e-learning has become popular around the world. A person sitting in a remote place can learn anything the world has o offer. Student belonging to different countries can learn the courses offered from a country they cannot afford to go to. But does this mean we no longer require teachers? Of course not! E-learning is made easy because there are a set of learned educators and teachers working together o put in the information required and organising thing. You may think that you will be able to completely rely on technology to get the answers for all your questions. But the truth is that you will still require a guide to take you through the right path. Times you may not be able to get the right answer but will be led into a look where to everything you get as an answer is not relevant. E- Learning is a virtual learning process. Just imagine actually you are interacting with nobody but only a programmes machine. It is incomplete is here if nobody to update the data or guide you through properly or answer your queries as and when they occur. Nothing can take over human intelligence and the teachers who share knowledge without hesitating. No technology or manmade robot can ever replace the old reliable teacher. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 42 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 43 Atmanirbhar Bharat, which means ‘self-reliant India’ or self-sufficient India, is a policy, which was introduced by Hon. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It’s main ojective is to make India a bigger and more important part of the global economy. It was actually came into main effect when our nation was suffering from pandemic and a fragile relationship between China and India ... to more dependence. Of late we can see that our import is going down and export is enhancing. It helps to pursue dreams that are efficient, competitive and resilient and being self-generating and sustaining. It doesn’t mean ‘’Self containment,” isolating away from the world or being protectionist. The first mention of this, came in the form of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ Abhiyan during the announcement of India Covid-19 pandemic relate economic package on 12th May, 2020. Subsequently, two more ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ packages were announced on 12th October and 12 Nov, 2020, bringing the total economic stimulates to 29.87 each crore. Further, in May 2020, PM Modiji laid down the five pillars of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, which were economy, infrastructure, technology driven systems, vibrant demography and demand. On 15 Aug, 2020, he also said that ‘The mindset of free India should be ‘Vocal for local’. We should appreciate our local products, if we don’t do this then our products will not get encouraged.” Annual managing Director R.S. Sodhi explained that the phrase vocal for local meant that products be made competitive vis-a vis global brands and that “ It didn’t mean that on must only buy products that have a logo ‘made in India’ on it . An extension of this slogan is ‘local for global’ that local products in India should have global appeal and reach. In my opinion on this. We must cooperate with Government (known as good diplomatic leaders) to tackle problems and reduce the dependency on other countries. We should also more focus on Primary sector. Since we know that 65% of our country is engages in farming sector. As farmers grow more and more, exports automatically will increase and will contribute to the GDP. Last, our country must unite together and tackle this problems. Cdt Abhimanyue Singh 5491, Class X A Hoysala House Atmanirbhar Bharat

The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 44 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 45 In the past 50 years or more it has been an increasing realization by medical professional. The ailments caused due to stress or trauma result ]in more and more deaths. It is very surprising that something like stress about which we were not so serious these many years has become a part of our everyday life. Today, there is a flood of literature on stress related diseases and their treatments. It has now become a fashion to write or speak on effects of stress on modern men and women. Many people thin stress as a feeling experienced by our mind and body in response of catastrophic events like terror attack or plane crash. According to psychologists, stress in small quantity is good and also necessary as it motivates a person to be productive, but excess of it is can be fatal. Hence, the way in which we deal with the stressful events determines its impact on our health. As stated in the Gita, man can be is his own best friend and his own worst enemy. To be my best friend, I have to spend more time with myself and I have to learn to love and respect myself. So as to love others and respect them as well. Cdt Supreeth 5842, Class 7 B Adilshahi House We live in an age of wonders and miracles. It has been called the ‘Age of Science’ and different aspects of our life that have changed in the preceding centuries have been attributed to science. For example the Internet on one hand gives access to information and knowledge at the click of a button is a boon to everyone making over lives much simpler butOn the other it has severely limited the actual contact with teacher, friend anddear ones. In my opinion the rapid development has created as many problems as it has solved. The reason is man's greed and the pursuit of money. Money and happiness are considered to be synonyms in our present society, but actually it is not so. In this mindless pursuit of money, nobody has time to appreciate the beauty of life or to care for one another. So there is an urgent need to press the pause, breathe for a moment and think about where, we are actually heading- is it development or destruction. Remember the pandemic has opened our eyes...Let us live life. Cdt Tanmay 5423, Class X A Hoysala House Managing Stress Positively The world today

Cdt Akash B. K. 5399, Class X B Wodeyar House My Dad; My Hero “I was sad because I didn’t have shoes but then I saw a man with no feet”. This quote by Mahatma Gandhi puts up everything about Gratitude. First the very fundamental question, what is Gratitude? In simple words its being grateful to someone or something. It’s the quality of being thankful. Let’s take for instance you are struggling to comprehend a chapter of physics and then one fine day a person comes and explains everything in crystal clear manner then your action towards that person is called being grateful. Coming down to the next question Why should you be grateful? Now you browse this question in the internet and there you behold plenty of reasons as to why you should be grateful and so on but I feel that it’s our duty to express thankfulness who has showered help or generously towards you Right? In this busy fast moving world of hustle and bustle the percentage of people who practice gratitude is very less. It’s now high time that we must do it. First, take out some minutes of your day, sit silently and mindfully recall for all the things that you are grateful for. It may be for your friend, or expressing your thankfulness to have such loving parents a roof or your head and the most important wealth that is your health. You can also maintain a diary in which you jot down all the things that you are grateful for. By developing this habit, you become or inch closer towards your success. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 46 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 47 Reading is everything you want for healthy and a better life. Reading helps you see things from different perspective and makes you tension free and the best way to read is to read in silence. You find it easier to understand and it also helps in faster reading. Reading also makes you as a confident speaker because when you discover new words that can be used while you are talking to someone giving speech. Reading always teaches you something new. If you have a healthy habit of reading everyday let it be or comic novel, newspaper, magazines etc. You will never get bored and reading doesn’t mean reading on mobile phone because they can affect your eyes. It can also cause you sleep deprivation. Due to advanced technology people now a days get more attracted to television and mobile phones. The number of people using smart phones for reading has increased due to pandemic. My advice to them to not to make this a habit. I think people should understand the harm and start reading and make a habit of reading actual books and not e-books and enjoy its pleasure. Cdt Ganesh V. The Ajeet 2022 Sainik School Bijapur 48 The Ajeet Sainik School Bijapur 2022 49 Phrases like "how time flies"; in the nick of time", "time and tide waits for none", "it was a cruel hour" etc . would not have come into English vocabulary if mankind had made correct use of it time. Time is never destructive if it is rightly made use of . Time never flies, it is we, who to make it fly by wasting every minute of it. Although we have experienced many times that the more organised we are in our time management the more pleasure we are likely to have, such a conclusion implies that the fault lies within us not with the time. Time is not the monopoly of one person, it is a possession of all those people , who know the value of time and know how to spend it. Those who spend it wisely will reap benefits, while others who misuse, will spend their life crying the lack of time. Time is valuable. It is that treasure which, if handled carefully leads a person to name, fame and glory. The most obvious sign of a successful person is his punctuality in discharging his duties. He is aware of the eternal truth that money if wasted can be recovered, Health once lost can not be regained ,but every minute that is wasted is wasted forever. As he desires to accomplish a great deal in his short life span he makes the best use of every second that is at his disposal. Time has another enemy in the form of idleness. "an idle mind is devil's workshop" As long as the mind remains idol it is plagued by doubt ,sorrows ,desire ,and other destructive thoughts. Such thoughts disturb us but the moment we settle down to work they disappear. Idleness also gives birth to evil thoughts which are harmful for both society and self. The habit of postponing things for next day a is the second thief of the time . This habit act as an obstacle in the way of moral and material progress. Leisure time has a valuable role to pay. Care should be taken to spend leisure time in a healthy and profitable persuits. Entertainment and excitement should not be the only end of a leisure time , In fact they should be persuaded in moderation. Reading good and informative books, acquiring new skill and cultivating artistic tastes should be our main persutes during the time of leisure. Such habits enablesus to gain honour, riches and sophistication, they mould a human being into a complete person. At last what I would want to say is "proper use of time and enhances the lifespan of a person. Time may not increase the number of years of a person, but it's certainly increases the amount of work in a person leige time " The good deeds and accomplishments of a person, keep his name alive in the world . Hence everyone should learn the value of the economy of time. Cdt Mayaraj R. Tavaragerimath 5492, Class X B Adilshahi House The Correct Use of Time
