| P a g e Srishti SNGC 2019-20 SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING "When you say you're working on' yourself, what do you mean? Because if it's continuing the same routine that you've had for years in hope that you'll find what you're looking for within - then you're doing it all wrong. If you're working on yourself then truly work on yourself. Start a journal. Begin saying 'no' to things you don't want to do and make more time for things that you do. And if you don't know what you want, then do a brainstorm. Start cooking fresh meals and make an effort to grab a chai with your friend, and talk to your mother to have that difficult conversation that you've been putting off for so long. Do some traumatic work. Focus on ways to ease your anxiety. Go on walks. Listen to health and positivity podcasts. Watch comedy skits. Read self-help books and romance novels, or thrillers, or none at all if books aren't your thing. But the point is to be in motion. It's not enough to continue the same routine that you've had for the last few years. Because working on yourself requires effort. It requires change. It requires you to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. It requires you to talk about the difficult stuff, the scary stuff, the painful and heart-breaking stuff. Because if you want to grow then you truly need to work on yourself and for that you need to do something, anything, rather than nothing at all. Its Okay to Not Be Okay!!! You are already physically beautiful but itss the beauty of the soul that excites another, I don't want to see a picture of you, Show me your heart, show me your soul. It ain't about the looks, Its about vibes. It's okay to be afraid, its okay if you don't know who you are yet. It's okay, don't judge yourself for not knowing everything. We all have different timelines of discovering life, our own unique ways of figuring things out. Maybe you still don't know if the path you are taking is right for you. We all find our ways through falling and rising, by taking chances. There are no shortcuts to live this life, and if we keep waiting for the right time or the right way to truly start living, we will have to wait forever. They build our character and instill knowledge, Without any expectations they strive hard, They struggle day in and day out To see their students, grow. When they enter the class, they look fresh and cool, They carry stack of books in hand, With all this they transport us to the magic land. Teachers have patience and help us move in our own way. With a smile on their face, they make our day. Teachers are the gift of God. Let's salute them for this noble cause. ' 'She', the Savitribai Phule, Mother Teresa and Rani Laxmi Bai, But for what reason she has to ask the question 'Why, Why, Why?' - By: Parigha Waghmare (11th Science) A peep into the life of Ruskin Bond “When World War 2 broke out, my Dad, who was in the Air Force, went to war. He sent me to live with my maternal grandparents in Dehradun; I was 6. It was tough– I missed Dad terribly. A year later, Mum and Dad got divorced; then just before the end of the war, we got a letter saying that Dad had died of a bullet; I was shattered. I grew very lonely. A few years later, Mum remarried, but I couldn’t accept another man in Dad’s place–as a child, I resented my step-dad. So, I tried to create my own little world–after school, I’d curl up with a book and forget about everything else. In a way, books were my escape–at the age of 12, I used to read more than 5 books a week. All I wanted was to emulate my favourite authors, so I started writing short stories. And in 1951, my first story was published in a local magazine; I was 16! Thrilled, I told Mum, ‘I want to be a writer.’ But she didn’t take me seriously–I was shipped off to England for college. The next 4 years taught me how difficult it was to sustain as a writer. After college, I’d juggle 4 part-time jobs and chores. At the end of the day, I’d be exhausted, still I’d write at night. On weekends, I’d go from one publishing house to another, but my work was rejected everywhere. So, after college, I decided to move back to India. But just as I boarded the ship, I got a postcard saying that one of my stories was selected by a publisher; they’d sent me a cheque of £50! In India, mum and my step-dad had moved to Delhi and my grandparents had passed. So, I rented a small apartment in Mussoorie and lived by myself. Every day,

| P a g e Srishti SNGC 2019-20 I’d bombard newspapers–one published story used to earn me about Rs.50; I was content with that. And in 1956, I wrote the Night Train at Deoli, which became a bestseller. I was 24 and wrote a lot about falling in love with girls at train stations. But in reality, none of those girls reciprocated. I mean, here I am, at 87, still a bachelor! So in the 1960s, I adopted my grandson— now he and his kids are my family. But being a writer meant living hand to mouth, so I’d often go to Delhi and do odd jobs. And when I had enough money, I’d come up to the hills to write. It was only in the 1990s that I realised I was popular. I was at a station when 3 kids pointed at me and exclaimed, ‘Ruskin Bond, Ruskin Bond!’ Relieved, I thought, ’At least someone knows me!’ In the past 30 years, my routine hasn’t changed much–I enjoy my morning hikes, watch TV and munch on my favourite mutton cutlets while writing. With age, I’ve started enjoying my naps a lot more. On weekends, I go to the one bookstore here and talk to people. And now, my godsons have put me on Instagram–they keep teaching me how to use it. But I’ve given up! I chuckle and tell them, ‘I’m very happy with my books, don’t make me a part of this online world.’’” #WorldBookDay. What is 5G?.5G is the fifth generation of mobile broadband network which boasts about the possibility of high degree of speed up to 20Gbps data, negligible latency, more reliability with low costs and low resources consumption.5G promises to be high quality of service option with higher availability for multiple kinds of services such as mobile broadband, mission critical systems and Internet of Things. Why do we need 5G? Because present 4G LTE is reaching its limits of sustainability.4G can not keep up with the demands of future services or support newer techs that requires better data rate and higher efficiency. 5G is supposed to meet all these expectations.5G is supposed to offer speed up to 20Gbps but in actual commercial use 5G carrier broadband will give up to 1Gbps of speed which is still 10 times faster than 4GLTE. What are benefits of 5G? If deployed with its full capabilities as predicated by the Telecom providers, It could be the better replacement option for home broadband, and not only that but also much more than that. If its deployed successfully, 5G will be able to provide better connectivity of all IoT devices given IoT system accommodate mobile broadband connection, It will be able to support Virtual reality and Augmented reality technologies because of its massive data rate and negligible latency and also because of 5G small cells which will make data processing easier and more close to user compared to Google or Amazons hyper scale data centers. Because of 5G’s speed and connectivity among variety of devices we would potentially step into the new age of self driving vehicles and automated systems, cloud computing, AR/VR, smart homes and cites and what not. What is the future of 5G in India? Many countries around the world had already started implementing 5G since 2019. India had also planned to start 5G back in 2018. Reliance jio, Airtel and Vodafone had already prepared themselves for 5G. Airtel have already announced that its network is ready for 5G, while Jio announced that it will start its 5G services in the second half of this year. While jio is using stand alone, 5G architecture for trials and testing, Airtel too has started 5G testing in Gurugram. Its expected that 5G services will start from early 2022. What would you need to access 5G? If one wants to use 5G network with the high speed as commercialized, will need a phone that supports 5G. There are mobile brands that have launched 5G phones in market. But that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to use 5G in a 4G phone, 5G will still work on top of 4G connection but it will not give user the high speed as top as 1Gbps. You may or may not need a new 5G sim card depending on the operator you are subscribed to. You’ll need to be subscribed to a 5G plan offered by your service provider to access 5G network. I was completely unaware about what cancer is when I was kid I use to see it in cigarette packet written cancer and I had a thought that it is a dangerous disease. When I faced cancer at the age of 13, I had a feel that I am going to die but I got cured with many ups and downs at the age of 15. Like other student my studies were going on and I was pursuing my 7th std, on 15th march 2015 night I had a vomiting and few hours later I had gone to washroom thrice and in the third time I was unconscious in bathroom and next day morning I was conscious my parents and my family members were worried about me. On next day my parents took me to the private hospital, since it was a holi festival most of the hospitals were closed and few hospitals which were running but doctors were on leave. My parents took me to P.M.C.H (Patna Medical Centre Hospital) a government hospital. I had been admitted there for 1 week and on 3rd day my blood samples had been took and within one day my report came and in that we came to know that I had a blood cancer B-ALL (B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). The doctors over there refereed us to TATA memorial hospital Mumbai for further treatment. I and my parents reached Mumbai, I had been admitted at TATA hospital and in Mumbai we had no room to leave so we stayed at hospital for full one day than villager’s colleagues helped us for shelter. Then I had started with check up of blood test and the report were normal and on next day my bone marrow test occurred and report were as same as in Patna, a blood cancer. The doctor Vasudev at TATA hospital called my parents and said about cancer I had and the duration period of the treatment. My treatment had been started with 4 chemotherapies of 6 monthsand 2 years of maintenance, during my chemotherapy treatement I faced lot of common sideffects and undergone full 2 years 6month treatment of cancer and in 3 years I was fully cured on 20th september 2017, but we had financial problems because of which my parents forced to sell their lands hearing this hurted me a lot, then finally I was cured. And during my treatment I had a talk with Sandeep Yadav who is a KCK member at CANKIDS he explains that they do awarness on cancer and also give financial help for cancer patient. So, I joined CANKIDS as a KCK member and after my treatment I started attending events of CANKIDS and doing awareness on cancer by running marathon etc. During my follow up at TATA memorial hospital Ameetha madam a social worker said about GIFT OF LIFE FOUNDATION Moscow Russia where, under 15 cancer survivors game occurs in which all over the world from 18 countries cancer survivor student participate in it. So, I tried for it and been selected for 5 games chase, running, football, swimming and riffle shooting hearing it my parents were so happy and were proud of me. I am also proud to represent our India. I have won many certificates in sports at school level and dream to win the same in my visit to Russia on 1st August 2018. I want to really thank Ameetha madam for giving this golden opportunity and to thank the entire person who is sponsoring my trip to Russia. My dream is to become a film director the reason behind it I want to show to the world that how a cancer patient life is and what are the difficulties they face throught their life according to me media is the place where we can give the message to people easily. Through my life story I have learnt that however your life difficult may be seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at and I hope you do the same in your life. - Ibne Ali Testimonial for Fundraising Page -Some say that cancer disease leads to death but according to me cancer gives you a rebirth and makes you stronger not physically but mentally it does. Myself Ibne Ali, I faced cancer (B-ALL a type of blood cancer which affect the immune system) at my 12 years old when I was a cheerful teenager. Cured in 2 years, seeing many up’s and downs. At that time CANKIDS gave us a hope financially and emotionally. I thought that cancer lessen the opportunity but it actually increased and I got chance of playing under 15 games in Russia with childhood cancer survivor from all over the world. I am not thankful to cancer but I am thankful for what cancer has taught me. TEACHERS DAY SPECIAL Piyanka Asware –Teachers “TEACHERS IN MY LIFE” This one is a wonderful theme which takes me back to the past, a takes me relive my memories, rack my brains and

My father: set goals and achieve them. 2. My mother: Keep going, all is not lost 3. My grandmother (Amma): cooking, thin chapatis like paper, be independent 4. My sister: new technologies, now apps, new worthwhile websites, clarity of thoughts, respect, value and feel good about yourself, self esteem 5. My teacher: sincerity, discipline in every task, achieve goals, handle team, how to sort out issues, leadership skills 6. My books: made me think differently and grow professionally Kohinoor Khan HAPPY TEACHERS DAY “The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves” as said by the Former President, Teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.Today on the auspicious occasion of his birthday. We all celebrate Teacher's day. Teaching is not just a word it is a noble profession and every person is a teacher for others. It is said that today's student will be the future for tomorrow and a teacher is one who makes the future bright. They are the one who carves and brings the beauty within the student. As we say "Mata-Pita-Guru-Dev”. In our life we meet many gurus’ in different form who teach, educate, guide, inspire, and motivate us. Parents give birth to child but teacher bring life into the child. Being a teacher isn't like a 9 to 5 job, teacher is one who is available whenever we need. A teacher is a parent, child, sibling, and friend. They stand as a backbone of every student. Teaching is one such profession which teaches all other profession. Being a student I am very grateful towards my teachers they are the one who uplift me, give me advices, oppurtunities, they correct my mistake and show me the right path. SYBcom- Shruthi Sreebadharan Teachers are not just a person who teaches us but a person who moulds us for our bright future. They are the people who guide us to follow the right path in life. As we were told that parents cannot be with us every where therefore we have teachers, they protect and guide us like our parents and take care of us like their child. Patience and Sacrifices of our teachers should be celebrated every day not just on 5th of September. Teachers you have enlightened a thousand souls with the light of your wisdom and ignited in them the everburning flame of imagination. Hats off to every teacher for never giving up on their students and always working hard for their betterment. All that we have heard about college life is most likely to come true. The tedious school days are over and it’s a new phase, the best phase of life. even though we had only one best year of college. Looking close by to that one year with endless schedules and nearing exams it was kind of hard to keep track of rest of the things that was going on in our life. At the beginning we used to discuss and share everything with our school best buds but slowly we lose touch due to busy schedules. We all use to think life couldn't be more miserable. But then we find someone, to share all these crazy experiences. This is someone who doesn’t just listen but also experience all those things with us. We connect instantly and within no time we have a GANG. A college gang really and we are a part of it! This is perfect. The common memories we all have is definitely goofing around with friends. And how that one particular gang of friends walked around the college in style. I started realizing that I was missing the structure to my day that that the college routine gives me which was more or less like classes, exams, classrooms, to events, to

| P a g e Srishti SNGC 2019-20 bunking lectures and cancelling of movie plans andowhere to go. In the absence of it, I think a part of me has become socially impaired. Time flies during good times and we are in our final year, at 2am sitting in our room and remembering that one amazing year of our entire life. A realization that yeah! Actually all those things that we heard about college life are true. Entering year two of the pandemic is very strange. It hardly seems a day since the pandemic began, but it also come off as a lifetime. Slowly and steadily virtual classes began and being alone really set in. I missed my friends and us being together. The isolation felt real with just my parents, my sister and me even though we spent time together having movie nights, enjoying being in our own little bubble. Sometimes I still find myself worrying about my final year whether college will be opening and also about how we all will be applying for jobs very soon. Finding a job after college and growing to full on adulthood is stressful enough. Despite everything I’m confident about my future and the future of the friends that I graduate with and we will find our way, though it might take a little longer than usual. In a way I am in a similar place to last year looking for some change. Lock-down has been difficult for many people for some economic hardships or unemployment, for others difficult relationships made worse. No matter what Instagram tells you, you don’t have to learn a new language, redecorate your room, or get a first all in one day. Sometimes just getting out of bed is a victory, and you know what that’s completely okay. Within my family unit what I have learned that this is a temporary situation and will soon come to an end. And will start appreciating our new normal every day and outside world. Our mornings will soon be back to the usual morning rush to get up, get ready and to not to be late for college. All this quarantine life was not more like a dream but a lesson in each one of our life. A quote that I saw while scrolling down on Instagram which I would like to mention here is that being in lock-down and quarantining ourselves “we shouldn’t take freedom for granted, freedom is a privilege, that we should appreciate and be thankful to have.” By: Smruthi Omanakuttan Tybms/A (12th Commerce) TURNING PROCRASTINATION INTO MOTIVATION ‘’I don’t really need to do this yet; it can wait until some time in future’ ‘’I work better under pressure. I’ll wait until it’s almost due and then the work will be even better’’ ~Typical procrastination excuses we tell ourselves. 5 WAYS TO MINIMIZE PROCRASTINATION AND MAXIMIZE MOTIVATION 1. Start projects immediately if you have idle time. Once you actually start something and get into the flow of it you’d be surprised at how easy it is. Don’t just think about doing something ACT. 2 Remove all distractions from your environment. Anything that makes you lose your focus will set you up for procrastination. 3. Eat well, sleep well and get exercise. From personal experience, a healthy mind and body is less likely to procrastinate. You’ll feel better, you’ll be more upbeat and active and more optimistic about accomplishing your goals. 4. A messy workplace is a distraction too. Likewise, all the clutter on your computer is also slowing you down. Declutter your workstation and organize your files and documents. Don’t get lost in the abundance of menial paperwork.

| P a g e Srishti SNGC 2019-20 5. Keep your thoughts positive, and recognize when you’re entering a cycle of procrastination. Here is where you will need to address mind over matter. An addiction is a chronic dysfunction of the brain system that involves reward, motivation, and memory. It's about the way your body craves a substance or behavior. In simple terms, you might find difficulties to quit those substances and activities which are not really beneficial even though they harm you in the long run. According to U.K, Charity Action on Addition, 1 in 3 people in the world have an addiction of some kind. So, I believe that it's a much needed topic to be discussed specially for youths in today’s world. Addiction is a chronic complex disease but it's treatable when we go to a deeper understanding about how it works. When we hear the word something like addiction, the first thing that comes to our mind is substance abuse like Drugs and alcohol. Now the question is, is it the only type of addiction? NO. Nowadays, most experts recognized two types of addictions: • Chemical addiction refers to addiction that involves the use of substance. -Addiction refers to addiction that involves compulsive behaviors. These are persistent, repeated behaviors that you carry out even if they don’t offer any real benefit. It seems to me that our desire to stay in our comfort zone is also a sort of addiction. I can’t deny the fact that the most well known and serious addiction is drugs and alcohol. A U.S report has shown that nearly 1 to 10 persons have an addiction of both. As we know how serious the problem of drug addiction in our society and how it ruins lives. It is necessary to aware those people who are curious to try illicit drugs and also to those who are already trapped that untreated substance addiction can lead to longterm consequences like: 1. Physical, such as heart disese, HIV/AIDS and neurological damage 2. Psychological, emotional such as anxiety, stress and depression 3. Social, such as jail and damaged relationships. Serious complications can cause health concers or social situations to result in the end of life. Behavioral addition usually involves an inability to control over a specific behavior. This can result in job loss, health issues and relationship concerns and among other things The idea behind this is that

| P a g e Srishti SNGC 2019-20 someone feels the symptoms of addiction, but not to a substance. Rather, an action or set of actions that creates some calming effect or even euphoria in the user. The scientific reason behind that, A neurotransmitter called dopamine which is also known as a reward chemical, is produced in our brain in an exceeding amount when we do such types of activities in a repetitive manner as compared to natural and productive activities. I am in favor of we didn't heeding that, behavioral addiction is not equal but also has dangerous and harmful effects like substance addiction. The hideous fact about that is they become a part of our life before we notice them or are unaware about what their consequences will be. As addiction develops it is common to lose interest in hobbies and other things you once enjoyed, this happens because your brain no longer produces much dopamine in response to natural triggers. Consequently, you may decide to quit those substances or behavior, you might feel like you still need them in order to feel good about anything. I believe that addiction does not lie in the criteria of logic but it’s our emotional response to a substance or a behavior. (E.G, A. chain smoker also knows that smoking is injurious to their health but their cravings and euphoric memories towards smoking that they previously enjoyed may trigger them and make them difficult to quit.) As Albert Einstein asserted that “Every action has a reaction”. Hence, always before indulging in any activities be a logical being not an emotional animal. Moreover, ensure that what are the consequences of such individual activity whether it would be a short term pleasure to long term regret or vice versa. On the other hand, self-discipline plays a major role to prevent us from any sort of addiction and encourages us to stay healthy and productive. As we know that prevention is better than cure, so build a healthy lifestyle and avoid toxic relationships, spend your time with your family and loved ones. Surround yourself with people who appreciate your efforts and lift you up, part of self-love is having a higher standard in your inner circle. Don't let the past steal your present. When your past calls, don't answer. It has nothing new to say. There is no doubt that daily meditation (minimum 10 mins) helps you to cope up with anxiety and stress in day-to-day life which leads to reducing the triggers of your addictions. Avoid negativity, be positive & productive, stay motivated&healthy. He might look strict and stern, But his care, we do yearn. He is our strength and confidence, And leads us with his guidance. He follows us everywhere, As in our name, he is there. His emotions, we fail to gather, He is our support, our father. By: Sheela Narasimhan (Asst Teacher) (English Department
