In collaboration with ACET Innovates Sdn. Bhd., they gave us information about bio-fertilizer – a substance which contains living micro-organisms that promote plant growth by improving nutrient acquisition. This is a new project ventured by the company, thus they neither have a ready brand/corporate identity nor packaging and storage space. Therefore, though the collaboration, ACET Innovates acquired us to propose the fertilizer packaging and storage, as well as recommendations for the brand name of the new product. Based on the provided information by ACET Innovates, we developed several ideas and designs of packaging that keep that the quality of the fertilizer and does not deteriorate rapidly. ACeT Innovates Sdn Bhd was established in 2016 and initially produces enzyme for the retting of kenaf. In 2017, our team was the Grand Winner for Tech Planter Demo Day conducted in Malaysia and was chosen as Malaysia's representative for Tech Planter Demo Day (Asia Pacific Round) and was awarded with Glocalink Award. In 2023, ACeT Innovates Sdn Bhd is moving forward by the additional of a new product which is ACeTGrow. ACeTGrow is a type of biofertilizer made from agricultural wastes and contains a type of microorganism which acts as a biological control for Fusarium wilt disease in banana. This collaboration with Adaptive Wear Global is rooted in a shared vision of improving the lives of individuals with health conditions, particularly the aging population. Adaptive Wear Global proposes to create the concept of healthy aging in its upcoming project, which aligns perfectly with the goal of developing solutions that promote overall well-being and functionality. A group of researchers led by Prof. Dr. Nazlina Shaari from the Faculty of Design and Architecture (FRSB), UPM, won the award through its innovative Adaptive Wear - a clothing innovation for health focused on elderly and disabled patients. This innovation was an outcome of Prototype Development Research Grant (PRGS). It is also the innovative product of a start-up company under InnoHub, Putra Science Park, UPM, which is the first innovation lab aimed to nurture technological entrepreneurs who convert UPM’s technology and innovation into marketable and viable products. The information provided by Dr Haniff, the founder of Astera Food, will be used to produce several ideations and designs that can be an improvement economically and practically for Astera Food. Began with a simple start, Dr. Chong and his friend Mr. Chew recognized the difficulties and timeconsuming nature of preparing bird nest soup for their mothers and wives. They also empathized with the busy lifestyles of young working adults today. In collaboration with a team of UPM students and their supervisors, they joined forces with InnoHub UPM to generate ideas and find solutions. As a result, they developed an instant edible bird's nest using a patented processing method that only requires the addition of hot water and is ready to serve in 3 minutes. Their aim was to create a fast and convenient product that enhances consumers enjoyment, thus giving rise to the birth of Sarang, a new startup. This could be achieved by identifying target markets and consideration of the company's relative novelty, to propose potential product packaging design.


BUMIL is an automated ready-to-drink bird nest drink dispenser, which comes with the Sarang cups. Each cup contains a freeze-dried bird nest, that is provided with the dispenser. An enzymatic bioassay of heavy metals has been designed at UPM based on the inhibitive properties of protease by heavy metals and the sensitive assay of this inhibition by the casein Coomassie Blue proteolytic assay. Provided information allows the students to propose several design ideas that can make use of discarded textiles. The information obtained helps them to plan a circular design system by using used textiles without wasting any textiles to landfills. Life Line Clothing Malaysia (LLCM) was formed in 2013, located at Port Klang. They collect used textiles and household goods across Malaysia by working closely with the communities, corporations, local governments. They have many textile recycling bins, such as at Ikea Cheras, One Utama, Lot 10, etc. LLCM also often held many communities program and often organizes clothes collections from different place and area. Their goal is to reduce Malaysia's fabric waste pollution as well as to aid and assist underdeveloped countries by giving secondhand clothing. They also aim to also deliver the most efficient and cost-effective textile recycling programme that benefits the community. The simple design sweater is intended to help refugees to survive in a cold weather, especially during winter. This project does not only help the refugees, but it also reduces the textiles waste. Lönge Medikal is a new startup company in the medical field and focuses more on marketing techniques than product design and sustainability. Chief officer Mr. Izzat Sabri gave us valuable advices and he shared his outstanding experiences in business and marketing, especially on competing with big firms. Though this collaboration, Lönge Medikal promises to provide technical assistances when possible, including 3D Printing, Laser Printing, and 3D scanning, to assist the students’ projects. Lönge Medikal is a healthcare information technology start-up, co-founded in 2016 by Ahmad Sobri Muda, Izzat Sabri, and Yusri Mohamad. The company specializes in medical technology and accessories to improve minimal invasive medical procedures. They have developed patient-specific organ replicas for image-guided procedures, pre-procedure planning, post-procedure evaluation, and medical device simulation and training. The company is familiar with 3D printing techniques and can produce realistic simulators with body casing, muscle pads, and x-ray compatible spinal bone and disc. They offer EVSim, a simulator for image-guided procedures that provides a high-fidelity tactile experience and is portable for mobility. Besides the simulation, the company also contributed on other segments of medication. In collaboration with My Rimba, the company share their expertise on school children behaviour, behaviour of the public towards environmental knowledge, as well as useful information about other typical issues pertaining the environment. The company also allowed the students to use the likeness of their main animated characters as part of the aesthetics of this project. In return, the company looks to gain design-oriented problem solving in creating unique new products and services to further improve the main focus of the company, which is to nurture a green generation. My Rimba is a company founded in 2021 that aims to produce future green generations through the use of mixed media education, mainly through educational entertainment, or edutainment. They provide a superhero icon, Putra Rimba as a protagonist and his adventures along with his friends as a guardian of Mother Nature. Children can experience for themselves all the knowledge, skills and expertise demonstrated by the Skuad Rimba. This will further enhance the awareness about the state of nature in them. DEVELOPING HEAVY METAL IONS THROUGH PORTABLE COLORIMETRIC DEVICE FOR POINTOF-CARE DETECTION CoMEON is a colorimetric device equipped with microfiber cloth to easily wipe the cuvette surface. This feature is found to be more efficient as it can reduce the cleaning time. CoMEON comes with a sliding rack on the side of the device, designed as the eppendorf and cuvette holder. This way, users can put or arrange the cuvettes in the holder, while conducting the test to detect heavy metal ions. Nanoezinn Technologies was founded by professionals in the nanotechnologies field. The company product, Nanoezinn, is a fungicide made specifically for Ganoderma disease in oil palm. During the collaboration, the researcher has many chances to learn a lot of new things about chemistry, nanotechnology, and the oil palm industry. For example, the researcher got to know what happens when different chemicals react together, how the fungicide is being delivered using nanotechnologies, the knowledge about oil palm, and some economical knowledge in the oil palm industry. By using the knowledge and information gathered, the researcher will provide some ideas and designs that will make good use of the product, the fungicide, to develop a better way of using the product and hopefully maximize its capability. Nanoezinn Technologies Sdn Bhd is a growing company, established in 2019 by Prof. Dr. Mohd Zobir Hussein in collaboration with Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and University Putra Malaysia (UPM). The main product of the company is a potent antifungal nano delivery system for Ganoderma disease treatment of oil palm called Nanoezinn. Nanoezinn is a nano fungicide delivery formulation, formulated based on nanotechnology using biopolymer as the carrier and fungicide and/or fumigant as the active ingredients. Due to its nano-sized and controlled-release properties, it displays superior properties with 9 folds efficacy compared to its counterparts, the conventional fungicides.
