Phyto Enterprise innovates a soil-like substrate called fortified growth substrate, used as a medium to grow plants. There are three lines from the fortified growth substrate; the substrate itself, seedling balls and seedling sacs, which are meant for urban gardening. The students involved in this collaboration organized a Focus Group Discussion with the company to gain insight before developing design ideas for them. This was to understand the products of Phyto Enterprise and to understand in depth on the company’s problem and issues that they are facing. Afterward, the students began to brainstorm ideas before proposing solutions for the identified problem faced by the company. The university-industry collaborations can be an effective way to promote knowledge and technology transfer, support the development of sustainable products, and help to achieve the circular design. Phyto Enterprise was founded by Lead Researcher Arina Sukor, Team Members Anuar Khairoji, M.Arch and Zulhasnan Hadanan, B.Arch. Students were collaborating with this UPM InnoHub's commercialization startup to propose a circular design project focusing on customer experience and customization. The project involves a small group of students and Proville Tech, represented Dr. Nur Aliaa Abd Rahman. The students and the collaborating company exchanged knowledge and values to propose diverse design ideas. They engaged in a Focus Group Discussion and a Design Workshop to identify various factors before proceeding with the design process. They communicated regularly for updates on project progress and discussions. Proville Tech Sdn. Bhd. is a startup company under InnoHub Putra Science Park UPM programme founded by Dr. Nur Aliaa Abd Rahman and Dr. Azhari Samsu Baharuddin in 2015. Although Proville Tech is the company’s name, they are more well known as Appétit Ice Cream, which is the company’s ice cream brand. Proville Tech established their brand and entered the market in November 2020. The design concept of ''EmpireDuri'' was inspired by durian as a ‘king of fruit’ character for its shape and color.'' EmpireDuri'' ice cream packaging comes with additional container with toppings. The container features a rotatable lid sprinkle the topping on the ice cream. It also can change colour when being exposed to cold and hot temperatures. DEVELOPMENT OF WAFFLE BOWL MAKER THROUGH SHOP EXCLUSIVE EATING EXPERIENCE FOR CUSTOMERS The Waffle Bowl Maker is made from a metal plate top and a metal pan bottom that are hinged together and connected to a wood handle. There are two bowl mould sizes with convex patterns; the smaller one is attached to the metal plate while the bigger one is simply put inside the metal pan. Waffle Bowl Maker needs to be preheated first to a certain temperature, before the waffle batter can poured to make the waffle bowl. Students also had the chance to learn more about how the solar panels produce electricity from the sun. It is crucial to be aware of every aspect of the product before proceeding with idea generation. The task of generating and updating the current design is something that students can offer to the company. Rimbun Grow is a company owned by Dr Mohd Hazwan from Faculty of Education, Universiti Putra Malaysia. This company is located in Selangor and was founded in 2021. The goal of this company is to maintain the use of environmental-friendly products. They are very committed to use solar energy to supply consumers with electricity, particularly for agricultural use. This company's goal is to assist farmers in performing agricultural tasks with less electricity and to reduce the electricity costs.
