As the Head of the School, I have always envisioned an ideal education system in the school that prepares students for an ever-changing world by cultivating critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and adaptability to finally set their foot in the world as responsible global citizens. Our school strives sincerely to emphasize on setting up a culture of respect and empowerment where students are respected as active participants in their education, students here are encouraged to voice their opinions, ask questions and take initiative in their learning journey. We, at The Maurya School, value diversity and inclusivity where all students are respected and embraced for who they are regardless of their background, abilities, or circumstances, have equal opportunities to learn and grow. Celebrating diversity and promoting understanding among students is a fundamental aspect of our teaching-learning voyage. Dr Shalini Bajaj From The Head of the School’s Desk

Dear Students I have read somewhere that there is a tree by the Serpentine Lake in London’s Hyde Park. It is shaped like a giant umbrella. For the first time when he, the writer, ducked under its drooping branches, nestled against the trunk, he found a copy of The Secret Garden, a novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Our Mentors In today’s world of wires and sockets, WhatsApp and Instagram, books soothe stress and give tranquility. We, at The Maurya School, try to inculcate the habit of reading amongst our students from their foundational stage. Using this opportunity, I want to encourage you to give yourself a target of reading a decent number of age-appropriate books every session for leisure. It is good if these books are physical books. The smell of pages, the feeling of using your favourite hand crafted book mark, to dog ear pages is beyond words. It doesn’t mean that I am against reading e-books. I believe that it doesn’t matter from where you read, as long as you read…that’s the best habit one can inculcate to benefit for a lifetime. Garima Manglik (Vice Principal) He told me that there is a tradition to leave books here to be found by other readers. In return, those who partake must leave a book behind. Isn’t this tradition as great as the tradition of reading a book before bedtime or reading the newspaper with breakfast?

"Education is the key to unlocking the golden door of freedom and opportunity." - George Washington Carver Education is a crucial component of personal and societal development. It serves as a foundation for intellectual growth, critical thinking, and skill acquisition. Through formal institutions like schools and universities, individuals gain knowledge, cultivate abilities, and foster a sense of curiosity. Education not only imparts academic content but also nurtures social skills, ethical values, and a sense of responsibility. It plays a pivotal role in shaping the future by preparing individuals to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the global society. Kids & their Budding Emotions Abundant happiness and love to all of my students. Today, I want to talk about something that's not discussed quite often and that is, "Budding Emotions of Kids". Whether it is an exam or not, there are n number of Emotions that you feel on a daily basis! No matter how much the world thrashes the very existence of the gift that God has blessed humans with, You, my little bundles of joy, promise me, never to belittle yourself or anyone based on how you or anyone feels! Vulnerability is and always will be the expression for the highest form of Strength the world has ever seen! Your Emotions make you Human, whereas, the lack of it, makes you a Robot! Practicality is nothing but the skill of taking decisions and working efficiently. The comparison of Practicality and Emotionality is nothing but a poisonous joke of a comparison! Access to quality education is essential for promoting equality and fostering innovation, making it a key driver of progress and prosperity. Education significantly influences life decisions by providing individuals with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives needed to make informed choices. It equips people to analyze situations critically, consider alternatives, and weigh potential outcomes. Education broadens one's understanding of various subjects, cultures, and ideas, fostering a more comprehensive worldview. Furthermore, education often opens doors to diverse opportunities, impacting career choices and professional paths. Well-educated individuals are better positioned to pursue their interests, engage in meaningful work, and adapt to a rapidly changing job market. Education enhances problem-solving abilities, decision-making skills, and the capacity to navigate complexities in personal and professional spheres. Additionally, education contributes to personal growth, self-awareness, and the development of values and ethics. It instills a sense of responsibility and social awareness, influencing decisions that not only benefit the individual but also contribute to the welfare of society. In essence, education serves as a guiding force, empowering individuals to make sound life decisions that align with their goals, values, and aspirations. Purbasha Mukherjee Pre Primary Coordinator Smile and never hesitate to pour that precious glitter of your emotion that God has blessed you with! It takes a good heart to be kind! Be the kind, Be the smile, that the world always needs more of! God bless all of you my little magical kids! Anuradha Singh Primary Coordinator

Messages From Dignitaries

We all have a dream waiting to become a reality. With constant hard work, empirical perseverance, methodical training and a positive mindset, we get the equation of success and fulfillment. The Maurya School had the honour of being in the presence of the one and only Ms Sakshi Malik, the woman who figured out her equation of life. While telling her journey to the Mauryans, she inspired all of us and left an indelible mark in our hearts. We followed her speech by a set of questions we were all so curious to know the answers to. What are some of the sacrifices you had to make to achieve your goals in wrestling? I chose wrestling as my career path when I was really young; I was only 12. So, I joined the training while I was studying. I was supposed to balance both. Supposedly, I was good at studies and I didn’t wish to ruin my scores and grades. So, I used to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning for my training and then go to school. I was so dedicated towards my training and wrestling that I would practice wholeheartedly, and I was able to see the results – changes in my physical appearance. What advice do you have for young athletes who aspire to excel in sports like you? I’ve seen young kids being quite fragile and scared of failure. They usually tend to give up very early on their journey. They should realize how normal defeat is and how important it is to experience defeat to appreciate success. Can you share some tips for young athletes that can be adopted to a healthy lifestyle like you? As I said, discipline is the key to success. One must keep going forward. No doubt there will be a lot of difficulties and struggles, mood will fluctuate but never take it to heart. Learn from every experience. Hard work is very important, I know it’s a cliché but it makes the world of a difference. Mindset plays an important role. I paint that particular picture in my mind where I have achieved what I am working hard for and when I have that picture, I work more eagerly and enthusiastically. In fact, my peers used to pick at me and say that I look like a boy, obviously because I was gaining a lot of muscle weight. However, I never thought of it as bullying because I knew that I was getting stronger and better. Rendezvous with Sakshi Malik

Can you please share an anecdote that demonstrates the power of perseverance in sports? I have been a champion for 10 years, but this one time, I lost to a junior. That was a little humiliating for me for some reason. I also had a knee surgery then. I used to overthink a lot and I used to get worried about my comeback. However, I always told myself that this is not the end and God has written better things in my destiny, so, my journey won’t end on a sad note. That’s how I started believing in myself and stood up again. How do you overcome the feeling of anxiety before an important match? Anxiety is very common, because there is constant pressure, but one mustn’t let the anxiety get in the way. During those moments, my coach, my family members, and loved ones support me and help me feel confident. I also trust the process and hard work that I have invested in this field. How did you feel at that moment when you won the medal? I was startled, I couldn’t even realize that I achieved something this enormous. I can’t even frame it in words. At that moment, I didn’t know whether to cry or laugh or how to express my feelings. It took me two-three days to realize that I had made it! Can you share some mental strategies that you use to stay focused during competitions? Yes, definitely. During competitions, I usually watch videos of my potential opponents to understand their style and get more knowledge about their routines and previous performances. I also have a book titled ‘Secret’ which I read before any competition and listen to its audio book whenever I get some time. Rendezvous with Sakshi Malik

“Life itself is a privilege, but to live life to the fullest - well, that is a choice.” It takes immense pleasure, prestige and privilege to announce that Mr Navratan Aggarwal, Director, Bikanervala Foods Pvt. Ltd. visited The Maurya School and truly inspired everyone. He not only did the honour of adding flavours to many ideas put forth by the opportunistic teen entrepreneurs but also passed on the wisdom he possesses to the Mauryans by answering some of their questions. This entrepreneurship opportunity is such a revolution and a great exposure for all the aspiring entrepreneurs of today. What laid the seed for this idea? Are there any similar projects that you are planning to introduce in the near future? New ideas are always appreciated. In every part, be it marketing, selection of human resources, packaging, supervising, technology, etc., we need new perspectives and new vision. I believe the youth of today is so talented and efficient and they should be given a chance to prove themselves. With God’s grace, we’ll try to reach out to as many schools as possible. Hopefully, the initiative by The Maurya School will motivate others. Since, this has been a generational business and your whole family has been highly invested in this business for decades, you’ve seen your grandparents and parents working on it. So, what was it that made you get interested and involved in the business? My father always taught me that the customer is our God, and we all worked hard to make our customers feel that way. We ensured that we were serving the best and giving our 100% at every step of the process. The ultimate care was our motive. I have explored a lot of businesses but there was something that just felt absolutely right when I was working for Bikaner. It’s like the universe was telling me to work here and here only. Since then, I never thought of leaving the business. I love it! Meet the Legend Behind the Famous Brand

12 Sir, you are truly an inspiring individual for all of us! What is it that inspires you? All of you inspire me, daily! The youth is so talented and driven. Your generation is so fact oriented; you involve in a lot of research and focus on outer and inner development, not just materialistically but spiritually too. Meditation, too, truly inspires me. It is the best way to connect with one’s inner soul and the universe at the same time. It takes years to excel that but it’s all worth it! It emits optimism too and positivity is the way of life! If you had the chance to go ten years back in your life, what would you change about your story? Nothing! Everything that happened, it happened in the best way possible! I am so happy with the way life turned out. I would never change anything about the past. What kind of a work culture does Bikaner as a company promote? Serving the best is our priority, that too, at a reasonable cost with high quality. Ensuring the health of our customers is very important, and hence, we use the purest ingredients. Sir, as a Mauryan, I am completely enchanted. I wish all the Mauryans were here but unfortunately that couldn’t happen, but I want to share my learnings with them. I would like to request for a piece of advice for all the Mauryans. Live life like it is a festival! Enjoy each and every moment, cherish every experience. Music, dance, education, even business, whatever that makes your heart beat, follow that path! Life is very small; it must be lived optimistically! With whatever resources I had, I tried doing my best. Even the mistakes have their own charm. I focus on the present, I try to make my present great and give my best! “As you sow, so you shall reap.” Meet the Legend Behind the Famous Brand
