EDITOR'S
LETTER
Diafano started out as a free modern art digital magazine geared
toward emerging artists. After the first issues, we saw that emerging
artists have little or no help in distributing their art. Exposing in large
galleries often involves high expenses that are difficult to assume,
especially for those artists who dedicate 100% of their time to artistic
production.
Beginnings are never easy, and Diafano was no exception. Starting
from scratch is complicated, but the support we receive from artists
from all over the world pushes us to improve day after day. Thanks to
this, little by little we decided to offer more services, until we reached
the point where we are today.
We are happy to be able to turn our online magazine into a
community, while expanding our catalog of services. We know that
Diafano has grown a lot, very fast, leading to many changes in a very
short time. Those of you who have been following our humble
magazine from day one will know that the project has improved in
terms of design and content. We believe that modern art is very
important, now more than ever, and we will continue to do everything
in our power to spread it around the world. We hope you enjoy
Diafano! Join us!

grabbed some mylar, paint, rags, and palette knives and just went
crazy; moving around the mylar, making marks, adding and
subtracting until my feeling was sufficiently released. I stop when the
piece is 'saying' what I want it to say; when the feeling is visual. I
believe that when we can find something in the tangible world that
accurately describes what we are feeling, whether it be a painting,
music, or poetry, there is a sense of closure because we have
something to hold onto; something that someone else has made that

Double Bind "Adding a more linear space to this piece, 'Double Bind' is a painting I created that expresses tension in both a

This painting is an emotional response to the time
spent in quarentine. Each ring encapsulates a
separate day in lockdown. Some pleasant days and
some not so pleasant. Quarentine was a scary period
for me financially. The uncertainty of my financial
situation. I have had a lot of work and shows
cancelled, lost my job and couldnt pay my mortgage,
Bill\'s and groceries. Hanging on to every penny, I
managed to invest a little bit into this painting. I made
the canvas water tight with a few layers of varnish and
let it dry. Once it was dry I poured in 10 liters of water
mixed with ink and then waited for it to dry. I left the
outcome to chance. Not knowing the result became
daunting and stressful. With not much material to
hand I spent most of my days of the lockdown sitting
next to the painting and watching the painting dry.
Day by day it revealed a different layer which allowed
me the time to reflect on what ever was going on in
my mind.
