“Allright, who's responsible for this?” Happy Birthday, Miss Bailey!

"But, you see, I’m lazy. I’d do it this way; it's much easier." "No, the attendance isn't ready yet."

The 1982 Cross Country team ran in
many meets this year culminating
their season with participation in the
State Championships in late October.
Runners in this meet were Bryan
Combs, Scott Miller, Marcus Houston,
Bob Spencer, and Patrick Ahearn,
who led the team to an eleventh
place finish. Good performances were
also turned in at the Ravenscroft meet
by Terence Healy, Tom Rix, Steve
Wagner, John Bennett, and Jose Isasi.
Thanks go to mascot, manager, and
good sport, Beth Sisel. The only major
disappointment of the season was the
failure of the team, and friends, to
hurl their fearless leader, Coach

dollar fine for each head in the water)
Eklund into a fetid lake for a victory

CHRISTMAS

A CELEBRATIONS

Christmas was celebrated in a
special way at Bishop McGuinness.
Early in the morning the band and
the chorus joined together to present
“The Sounds of Christmas,” a merry
program of traditional Christmas
carols and modern holiday songs. The
band set the joyful tone with a
collection of carols. The chorus
followed with several of its members
singing contemporary solos. In the last
part of the program, the true meaning
of Christmas was presented with a
song by Father Frank, a narration,
and several religious songs presented
by the band and chorus.

Christmas was also celebrated at
Bishop McGuinness with a traditional
Moravian Love Feast. The service, led
by Rev. Jerry Befus, included a
special sermon in which the minister
acted out the thoughts of the
innkeeper who, in a monologue, tried
to justify his turning away Mary and
Joseph. The students were then served
a simple meal of buns and sweet
! coffee. The service ended with a
candlelight ceremony and the singing
of Christmas carols. The Love Feast
was a fitting conclusion to the last day
of school before Christmas vacation.

WINTERIM

The 1983 Winterim program
offered students a valuable learning
experience as well as a much
appreciated break from their
studies.

Working at various businesses,
seniors did everything from
programming computers to
apprehending criminals to teaching
some of the courses offered to the
underclassmen.

The seniors explored such fields
as advertising, interior design, law,
and pharmacy.

This year some of the
underclassmen were also allowed
to spend the week off campus.
They worked at charity
organizations such as the Samaritan
Soup Kitchen, and Crisis Control as
well as the Children’s Center.

Students who stayed on campus
during Winterim were by no means
left out. They enjoyed Italian
Cooking, Candlewicking, Trivia,
Sports Medicine, Counter Culture
and many other courses.

PROM 1982

Gretchen, Tracy, Jennie and Peter The 1982 Prom theme, “Don’t Stop
Mr. Eling Believin’,” was certainly an
appropriate one. Throughout the many
preparations and fund-raising events,
the spirit of the Prom was never lost.
The time and energy spent by Miss
Albert and the junior class helped to
make the 1982 Prom one to be
remembered. Faculty members as well
as students enjoyed an evening of
dancing at the Downtown Hilton.
