Math class. Ms. Eads has
an indepth knowledge of
her subject which she
transfers over to her stu
dents. Mr. Koepf is an
excellent Algebra and
Calculus teacher. Where
else can you learn Algebra
and get the Grateful Dead
tour dates in the same
class? Then, there is his
Joke day w here one feels
more comically com pe
tent. In his class there
never seems to be a dull
moment. All the teachers
try to reinforce the fact
that w e do need these
math skills to function in
life and make it interesting
at the same time. When
you add up this obvious
m ath equation it equals
Bishop McGuinness math
teachers.

Science ‘■If,

By Gemma Saluta
BMUS has been blessed w ith a varying array of sci

entific studies. Students of science at Bishop have
m any opportunities to explore interests in science,
ranging from Chemistry to Ecology to Genetics to Biol
ogy to cite a few.

There have been m any days w hen w alking into Mr.
Eklund's room and everyone is a buzz w ith the new s
on the tw ins or CHRIS. Or what about w hen you w alk
into the chem istry lab w hen AP was making stink
bom bs (they claim to be just testing chemicals). Then,
there w as Mr. Sequeira's infam ous w orksheets. All
and all, I'm sure w e can all agree that w e learned
som ething that w ill stay w ith us for a long time, like the

gives students to outlet
their curiosity by challeng
ing them to overachiex'e,
in projects and trips, it
might even spark an inter
est that can be explored
during winterim and then
beyond in college.
Sooner or later w e are
going to have to realize
how much science effects
us, especially in tim es of
\ such pollution and intimi
dation of our natural re
sources. Teachers like
Mrs. Sheets, Mr. Ecklund,
and Mr. Sequeira are the
teachers to lead us on this
journey, to set us off on
the right track to be envi
ronmentally sound and
give us doors to study and
doors to enter.

En^lidh

By Maricelis Tim othee
Call it "anglais" or "ingles," English is still the lan

guage that everyone shares here at Bishop
McGuinness. The head of the English department,
Ms. Noble, is seen teaching senior English, AP En
glish, and Creative Writing. She hopes that all her
students feel com fortable and are w illin g to share in
her classes. Hopefully, everyone learned som ething
(writing?Maybe?!?!) and had fun in the process. Ms.
Lawrence hopes that her juniors and sophom ores will
take aw ay the ability to be s’c^id, clear and concise
w riters in their experim entation w ith her "off the wall"
essay c]uestions. Mr. Ganzert teaches freshm en and
.iipnior English and a Journalism class. He

hopes his classes achiex'e
an appreciation and under
standing of literature, its
importance, and value
each aspect of this lan
guage. He hopes his
students w ill take away
the knowledge of the
books they read in class.
Finally, w e have Ms.
Kennedy teaching sopho
more English. She hopes
her students become
m ore critical thinkers in
respect to literature, and
also of life.

All the teachers strive to
teach their students the
knowledge of the English
language w hich w ill take
w ith them through college
and the rest of their lives.

Social
Studies

By Tricia Smith and Carol Taylor
T lie Social Studies classes at Bishop McGuinness

this year are offered from grade ten through twelve.
The students enjoy being enlightened about the histori
cal pasts of our country and the w o rld around us. Mr.
Korb, Mr. Streich, and Mr. Carter are a great additon to
the teaching of history, and the student body of Bishop
McGrtinness are very fortunate to have them pass their
great love for history on to us. Carol Taylor said," Mr.
Korb's teaching of history is not o nly enlightening but
also entertaining." And Tricia Smith said," 1really en-
jo \’ed the historical tunes Mr. Carter played for us.
