GEMS New Millennium School celebrated its 5th Annual Athletic Sports The chief guest , Mr. Vishal Bhatia declared
Meet on the sprawling Dubai Police Stadium on 29th January 2020. It was a the sports meet open and released
day filled with fervor and exhilaration, amidst thrills and cheers. The event
commenced with our proud student council Guard of Honor marching with balloons symbolizing the vibrant hopes of
the NMS Band followed by the felicitation of the venerable Chief Guest, Mr. the sporting students that were flying high.

Dubai Police.The Chief Guest , and our top NMS athletes lit the ceremonial
torch followed by the spectacular, impressive and well-synchronized March
Past by all the four Houses, coupled with some stirring marching music by in-
house student’s music band.The students entered into the spirit of the
occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports
captain. An energizing callisthenic display of drills from all phase students set
the tone for the rest of the event. These drills mesmerized the audience with
their energetic performances. Once the races began, the air was filled with
cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.All the athletes
joined the popular events like 100Mts, 200Mts, 400Mts, Long Jump, Shot-
put, High Jump & 4X100 Mts relay race and so on under the age categories of
under 9, under 11 & under 13, under 15, Under 17 & Under 19 – Boys/Girls.

As a part of the Coding Week, Grades 9 and 11 students attended an enlightening workshop on 27th
November 2019 conducted by Microsoft Edutech. The session was led by Ms. Rawan and Ms. Nisha on
Humming Bird and Microbit Kits which enabled the students to create a magnetic compass and a
distance sensor. The students enjoyed the process of learning how to program a compass and distance

innovation is a culture and mindset at NMS. Six students along with
Ms Sumi and Ms Venetia attended the ICAN Children’s Global
Summit 2019 in Rome which comprised of three students from
grade 9 (Bhaggwanth, Lohith and Kevin Sam). The summit from
26th November to 1st December offered students an opportunity to
present innovative ideas that solve challenges to a global audience.
The projects were ‘Recycling Washing Machine Water’ by Lohith
Verma (9B), ‘Multi Disaster Shelter’ by Kevin Sam (9B) and
Baggawanth Shyam (9B). The students have had collaboration and
interaction opportunities with students from across the world and
had a rare blessed interface with the Pope in Vatican City. Visits to
culture and heritage sites in Rome has enabled students to expand
their horizons as global citizens. NMS innovation representatives for
the I CAN Children’s Global Summit 2019 in Rome meet Dr.
Abdullah Al Karam, Director General of the KHDA and share

International Space Station (ISS) he conducted
scientific experiments and introduced his fellow
astronauts to Emirati culture and food. On 5th
February 2020 Emirates Airlines Literature Festival
